I've completed the tutorials, I've complete the SOE epic arc. Choosing what to do in Eve seems to be much simpler to me than choosing where to do it. I know I want to live somewhere between high sec and low sec near NPC null sec. I want to do a bit of everything. PVE, PVP, salvage & mine out those pve missions, explore the immediate surrounding areas, while having access to Research to optimize BPO's for industry. I want to setup a small trade hub. I want to eventually setup a POS, and even further down the road get into WH space ops. So yes, I want to do a bit of everything. I found what I wanted in Caldari space but just seems way too overcrowded, Lonetrek and Black Rise. So I looked in Minmatar space, same results in Heimetar and Molden Heath. Any recommendations for something similar in Gallente or Ammar space? I have also been looking into corporations. To me it makes more logical sense to wait to join a corp until I find a place to call home. I can join a corp and live where they want me to live, or I can live where I want to live and join a corp in the area. To me, my priority is a good home base then a good corp in my home base area. I feel like I have almost memorized the dotlan maps web page. I will keep looking, but any suggestions would be quite helpful. |

Your home base should be depending on what you do
For me it's the camp where the UNI sets as the official LSC (Lowsec campus) and I have a 2nd home in highsec when I feel like missioning.
For miners I guess it would be a station with 50% base refine and near the belts you wanna mine.
No idea for industry but I assume it will have to be near a POS and have manufacturing slots available.
For WH you dont really have a home station, you live in a POS. |

I was just talking to someone about this in game. For what I want to do, and it sounds like it's what you do, jump clones is my answer. I could have a JC (using Eve Uni as example as I have been researching the joining ritual) in Aldrat for classes, a JC in Solitude for general tomfoolery, a JC in Khandid for mining, and a JC in Simelea for SOE missioning; then have the appropriate fitted ships in all those places. As for the appropriate ships, I would in addition have a PvP fitted frigate & cruiser in each location as well as a fitted explorer in each location. Then use my other two characters as trade alts in Dodixie & Amarr (so done with Jita...). Sound strategy to begin with? Thank you Tsukino. |

sounds like you have done a lot of research so far :)
I'd concentrate on getting into a good corp first, E-Uni is recommended by many, and take it from there.
Eve is a long game, so there is plenty of time to realise your plans as you go along. |

First off, welcome to the game and I hope you find it to your liking and stick around for a long time.
As was pointed out above, a good corporation can make all the difference and will give you people to ask questions and get ideas from in game. E-Uni I have heard is a pretty good starting corp, RvB is great for PvP or there is Faction Warfare corps to learn it as well. Most of the big null sec alliances have some form of a hi sec training corp, a little brother or sister corp if you will as well. Any of these would most likely be very helpful for you.
You do seem to have done a lot of research and sounds like you almost want to do a little bit of everything which isnt a bad thing. I would recommend you pick one or two of those things to start with and start training into them. See if actually doing it is as fun as you thought it would be. Then once you are decent at it start considering to cross train a little to see if you like other aspects.
There are a ton of great things and ways to play Eve and thats part of what makes it such a great game. I have come to find that being able to do something very well tho is a lot more fun than just getting by. So once you do find something you enjoy doing, dont stop at just the minimum requirements.

Also, a home base doesn't have to be permanent. Home is just where you keep your stuff. It's not that hard to up and move across the cluster if/when you feel the need. |

Hi welcome to Eve.
as for advice:
Try to futher specify what you want to do, You'll notice some of the things you mentioned will be quite an adcievement on their own.
Jump clones, solve part of you problem, though it is wise, not to have them to far from eachother, so if need be y0ou can fly to them, when you still waiting for your next clone jump.
study the gallaxy map (do-maps) fastest path is usualy the most dangerous, where back roads can be mostly unguarded.
I'd prefere the Caldary/Gallente systems (Kinetic rats)
I'd advice to wait a little with NPC 0.0 as young as you are, or make shure you have a corp that can help you out.

1 thing I will add about home bases....they aren't permanent.
In my 3 years in EVE I have lived in (in order):
Lonetrek, The Forge, Kador, Wicked Creek, Geminate, Tash-Murkon, Etherium Reach, Tash-Murkon, Period Basis, The Forge and now my current home.
But about corporations...
You can first settle in a place and then try to find a corp that lives there AND does what you like to do
OR
Find a corp that does the same thing you like to do AND move there.
The first will be a bit harder as you will have to meet 2 requirements over the only 1 requirement in the latter. Are you in need of some nice chat? Are you new and want some help? Look no further and join: Crazy Dutch Guy |

I'm also in the process of planning my next move in New Eden. After checking out multiple options I decided to apply to E-UNI so I can get an even fuller understanding of this universe in a more structured way. Once I've completed their courses (if they accept me that is) I'm fairly certain that I'll have enough in-game know-how to move forward from there.
Good luck!

My advice is to keep your stuff as organized as possible from Day 1. Use containers for that. (I usually have four of them, named "High", "Med", "Low" and "Other".) And don-Št hang onto stuff you don-Št need/outgrow but be not afraid to reprocess/sell it. After all, you can buy almost everything again, possibly with a profit, if you need it.
That way, you can easily set up a "main" base and several "sub-bases" with the ships and modules and Jump Clone needed for what you want to do there. Also, there are professional movers that can freight your stuff around New Eden fast and reliably (and not even that expensively). Forum-unbanned since 2011.10.20. |

I have a slightly different take.
I have a home base where I keep my stuff. I then have another staging area where my corp is based or lives (I move my ships form home to the corp staging area as needed). This way I don't have to move all of my assets if my corp moves HQ or if I change corps. I also know that if my corp is war-decced my home is away from the corp and I am not quite so impacted by them. Start the day off slow and taper off from there.
