Could you use a blackbird for pvp?
Say in a gang of 6 with T1 ships no bigger than a cruier?
What would be the ideal ships for a gang of 6?

Edited by: Roba on 13/11/2005 03:36:28 The blackbird's only use is PVP. It is the best ECM ship in the game, the best being its big brother/sister the Scorpian.
You would want in your group 3 blackbirds and 3 damage dealing ships. If it is all tech I crusiers I suggest this.
3 blackbirds 3 thorax
Arm the blackbirds with
3x 650mm Proj (because if you use missiles the target tends to be dead before a bb gets some dmg in, so artty are nice since the dmg is instant and high per volly) 1x Remote Armor rep
5x ECM Multispec II 1x Sensor Booster II
2x WarpCore Stab (plates are also good, but gonna suck after patch)
Thorax:
5x Ion Blaster II (medium sized) 1x Whatever
1x 10mn MWD II 1x Warp Scrambler 1x Tracking Disruptor II
1x Medium Armor Rep II 4x Magstab II and Capac power relays
How to use this group? Jam the crap out of the highest dmg targets. One blackbird per battleship target. A single blackbird can jam 3 ceptors or assult frigs pretty easy. If your jam on a BS target fails and its a gank ship you eill all die. Also each thorax should tracking disrupt a battleship with turrets. It will render them helpless, or at least buy you 15 seconds while they change ammo.
If you have the skills to fit thorax's such they will gank a battleship in about 15 seconds as a group.

3 BB and 3 throaxs sounds good to me, but the blackbirds i would fit with 2 assualt launchers and 2 mediums hybrids(you pick) mainly because with all them medium turrets about drones will be a bugger to hit. and any 1/2 wit in a BS is going to know who jammed him. the drones will swarm all over the BB's. also for this reason i use 5 hypnos mulites and 1 decent shield extender, just to make u live that little bit extra.
i also use the 5 hypnos multies as they use less cap energy to activate for the same strength as the multi II's. altho they are hard to find and are expensive. in the 2 low slots i use 2 cap recharges, an extra 30% recharge is much needed when u using that many jammers. also dont activate them all at once, conserve energy, by only activating untill u jam. if u jam on the 1st or second, wooo u got lucky and save alot of energy. b4 the jam times out, deactivate all your jammers and run thro them again untill a successful jam. wasting energy is not wise idea
But then my setup is for a BB that likes to get in close.

I've always been partial to fitting a 1600mm plate and an adaptive nano to a BB. Because everyone shoots you first, and this way you last long enough to start jamming :)

I like the idea of the 1600mm plate, what guns should i use if i have thay on? The plate takes up 500/630 power!
I could always settle for an 800mm

Ive actually heard of a few rare people who do really well in a blackbird. Go EW and you'd be a great asset.

Try this setup:
Highs: 3 x 150mm Railguns II, 1 x Assault launcher Meds: 4 x Multi Specs, 1 x Sensor booster II, 1 x web/AB/cap recharger/sensor booster II Lows: 1 x 1600mm plate, 1 x Small Armor Rep II
Your job is to jam, so your gangmates can kill unmolested. You need the plate in case the cycle misfires. Be ready to warp out at any time because EW boats tend to be main targets for the enemy.
As far as usefullness in PvP I think Blackbird is very hard to beat, especially in larger gangs.

This is an excellent setup.
