Check out the most recent entries in Drawingboard, Development and Testing. The new ships should all be "In Testing" but they are only on Chaos so I'll move them over from Development a little later.
Newest changes are always grouped together within the dotted lines, most recent at the top.

Edited by: Lygos on 14/11/2005 00:04:30 I think auto-transporting goods from starbases to outposts would be a negative to the game from a social standpoint.
Starbases represent capital assets, which I am delighted to see, and therefore enable one to properly use contract slavery, or "employees" if you prefer.
Simply having to transport things on a regular schedule from hangars to outposts is a good sort of middle management task for employees. It carries the pirating risk, yet it isn't mindnumbingly dull like ice mining. Therefore this sort of direct labor input in manufacturing is highly desireable.
More of this and less of ice mining and we will have real industrial empires evolving.
The best industrial timesinks are afk timesinks. Processing or reprocessing time in industrial equipment replaces the time spent on watching mining lasers cycle. It is much better from a central server managing standpoint to have players return day after day, or twice daily than to have them play hour after eye glazing hour.
Free the miners from 80% of their familiar drudgery without increasing their total output, and you have a ready crop of PvPers or at least npc runners. The bottlenecks to production should be in the industrial capital itself rather than the player's time.
Let them build. Let their machinery cover the skies, and when the empires grow too much, give them a new weapon to wreak apocalyptic attrition to check the intensity with which the new industrial behemoths grow.

I think you are misunderstanding. This only works within the same system, in which you have Sovereignty.
If you experience a lot of piracy from warping inside your Starbase bubble to the Station within the same system in which you have Sovereignty, I'd say you are doing something wrong

Are loot drones still getting put in or are they getting dropped for the tractor beam. I think i read something about them getting dropped for tractor beams but i still see them in the testing section so i thought id ask.
Twin Starbase jumping sounds scary, but without anymore details, its hard to judge :)

Quote: Time-to-Claim of new Control Towers is also increased. Estimated to be either 5 or 7 days until a Control Tower can claim Sovereignty.
Having to wait a week for the sov claim to actually go online is bonkers, id much rather see contesting a claim take 7 days, this gives defenders time to counter the claim and requires the attackers to actually put up some effort into their assault by defending their POS for 7 days.
Forcing random industrialists/other people/etc to sit around with their thumbs up their behind for 7 days waiting for the sov bonuses is bad. ------------------

I don't like the changes to the starbases that you are putting in Ovuer. You end up screwing over the people that don't have anything to do with claiming sovereign status, and you aren't solving any problems.
You should consider putting in an Alliance class control tower that is the only CT capable of claiming Sovereign status on the system. That's the one you make expensive (not the small, medium, large CT)...put in a check that ensures that no other alliance has sovereign status before allowing the incoming CT to try to claim sovereign status (it can have the "Claim Sovereign" checkbox selected, and, as as soon as the system becomes unclaimed, via destruction or removal of the opposing CT, it can start the process of claiming the system). This is the only thing that will prevent "POS Ping-Pong" that is the bane of alliance sovereign warfare now.

Surely you want piracy at more than gates though? I've never tried erecting a bubble at a station of course. With the new changes to instas.. oh stations are enormous anyhow. Seems we need more battlefields per system.
I can never decide whether you guys would like solarsystems to seem really big or really small mechanically speaking. You might desire to extend the soveriegnty mechanics of outposts to cover a constellation or multiple solar systems. It might excite confrontation more effectively that way and also throw pirates a bone. Any subsequent encouragement (such as this auto-transporting) of industrial empires to stay local would be counter productive.

I just want to know one thing... I love space exploration, soo are you going to enhace the scanner and probe system? IMHO they are very difficult and very limited to use. I would like to see full triangulation system and free warp travel to anyplace I want to go in a system.
