I was hunting in a 0.0 area and I picked this up off of a pirate cruiser. A show info says it is a bookmark and that is it. What the heck is this thing? A bug?

Its possible to drag bookmarks to your cargohold, however it should be impossible for a pirate to have it. Also it is impossible to find the location if its not properly noted in the bookmark.

It might be a bug or it might just be something which if you can figure it out will make you the single richest player in the game. Who knows? 
Edit - it's not impossible to figure out Dreamworks as the bookmark will always show you the number of jumps to the location....

Is it possible to drag those bookmarks back into your people/places? Now I am really curious.

No it's not, the bookmark includes all the information you need to find it.

Well, that's interesting indeed.
Drag it into your People and Places, you'll then get other useful info like how many hops, etc.
I don't expect you to tell us what it points to, or where you got it exactly, but if you'd tell us if it was worthwhile, that'd be cool.

Well...
Just to let you all know. You drag it from your inventory to your people/places bookmark window like mentioned above. When you do that, you see where it leads you to.
I took the trip, it took me to a location way out in the 0.0 area. I decided to go for it. There has been a lot of pirate activity lately near Obe. So, I decided to just get a shuttle and take it out there.
I will say that the best part of this was finding out what it is and the wonder of what was out there. Good way of sending out content.

sell copies of the bookmark... you do know how to copy it right? (or you could make your own bookmarks of the same location)
