The facts that have come to light in this mess.
1. A tech 5 object was given to a player by a GM. An admitted error on their part. Explained and understood. 2. Another tech 5 object was noted to have been in the game. No info I've seen explains how it arrived, or what it's disposition is. 3. An error in loot tables allowed a tech 5 BLUEPRINT into the game. This was later rectified.
The significance of this is that we the paying customers of CCP have no idea if these are isolated events or if there is a more pervasive problem. If there is no auditing done of items in the game then it's likely this has happened more often than we know of.
We've had questions as to the quality of the polaris volunteers and their access to and distribution of information and this has affected our confidence in the game.
We now have reasonable suspicions that there are players in the game with serious advantages due to having items that shouldn't be available.
The true significance is our confidence in the objectivity of CCP and those associated with the company has been compromised. And with good reason and verified facts.
CCP needs to address this issue of confidence immediatly. People will not stay or play if they think the deck is stacked against them.

CCP are dealing with it and all tech 5 items will be removed from the game, also it would be nice if some 1 from CCP did gain all our confidence back by explaining it and sorting it out officaly for every one to see.

There is already a official thread sticky at the top of the forum.
If your afraid your post is just going to get lost, well, it probably will cause most of the posts there are the same as this one.

Come on people. I think CCP has figured out that they screwed up already. No need to fill the forums with this stuff over and over and over again. _______________________________________________

Don't hold your breath on CCP coming forward with much more detail.
Even if they did it would just be perceived as another thought up story to quell the masses.
As I said in another post:
" I don't think the truth will ever come out as admitting anything would be akin to pulling the plug on this game "
" Two straight up questions that once answered will swell into an endless list don't you think? "
This whole affair wouldn't even be acknowledged if people didn't come forward. How many others havn't?

I read the sticky, a lot of fluff discussing the stuff in the game rightly or wrongly.
My point and one that was barely addressed in any of the messages in the sticky was the effect of these errors on the player community.
Any single incident is nothing more than a tempest in a teapot but the sum total and the patterns that are becoming apparent (real or not) are something that needs to be addressed and given an appropriate level of attention.
Again, my point is the effect on the trust between the customers/players and CCP and associates.

Well, you could have posted a response in that thread instead of starting a new one, Right?
Right.

Certianly, but I considered my thread a seperate if related topic. And the reality of posting a reply at the end of 8 or 9 pages full... Not near as likely to be read and acted upon.

Shhh, don't bring this up, you'll only be labeled a whiner. ------------------------------------------------ CCP please fix your patch so I can play with my corpmates again soon. |

Edited by: Lysithea on 08/08/2003 21:50:48 Don't forget about the Caldari Station Blueprint someone has (or had). Was dropped as loot, CCP did not take it back, but instead made it impossible to build bases at the present time. But when it is possible, that corp already has the key piece of the puzzle.

Not sure how interesting cheating is especially when it is an employee at CCP doing it.
So what are CCPs methods to prevent cheating by it's employees?
I guess it would be interesting too if a ref kept spotting the ball 10 yards ahead of where it was supposed to be whenever he felt like it during a game.
Sorry but I'm still not understanding how cheating is adding content? Anyone care to elaborate?

CCP uses SQL databases right? Then why can't they make a list of all tech5 items currently in the game and remove them?
