All rubbish.
Just been out again in my apoc, turkey shooting a barrel of caracals then killing some TCUs. The reconquest of Fountain is progressing, oh and look:

Picked the wrong side, Exe, picked the wrong side.
In other news 2 CSAAs were killed by Black Legion, aborting 2 titans. |

Our strat op is in progress. We're in PNQY melting Goon SBUs. After today losing 2 titans, 2 supers, a TFI fleet (with no prospect of getting more because Minnie have given up in Faction War), a couple of Caracal/Celestis fleets Goons have decided not to show up to fight us.
If we were broke, which we ain't, won't matter much if you don't come fight us. |

Proletariat Tingtango wrote:It's weird because test finds themselves in this position that even if they somehow win, ~*elite pvp*~ is just gonna cherry pick what's left of them and kick over the desiccated corpse. There is no real win here, just surrender fountain.
The thing is, and this is somewhat fascinating, it's become not a war between the new kids vs elite pvp it's become a war between the 2 relative new kids against each other while the elite pvp dudes get to play kingmaker.
And just as Goons were about to get everyone into carriers and become elite pvp in their own right.
The politics of nullsec is fascinating and it's impossible at the grunt level to guess how much is happenstance and how much sinister plot.
The chances however of TEST going wait, why are we siding with these elite pvp dudes? is close to zero. We like them as people (especially Uncle Shadoo) and they're not the ones who decided to extinction level threat us out of nullsec, you guys are. (And we see the invasion of Fountain as something which if successful would not stop at Y-2). |

Any large alliances with history are full of people going grrrr Goons or grrr Test.
It's up to the leaders which way we go.
The hostility between Test and Goons could, I think, have been managed instead it was escalated. And that's been going on a long time, probably over 2 years now. Possibly back to the beginning.
There are some compelling reasons not to alienate new alliances that seem destined to be massive, for instance Brave Newbies now (who Test really like and have good relations with).
But Goons have always gone with the "****** kid brother" approach to Test and Mittens has deliberately escalated this by sensationalising Test leadership behaviour eg "The Madness of Montolio" piece, the rage at Booda for supporting a blue, the manufacturing of a narrative that cries betrayal at leaked logs by someone who made his name and fame gaining access to information and leaking it, the recent demonising of Viktor our head diplo. All of these have an element of truth to them but have been exaggerated out of all proportion as a way of escalating tensions and also I think, partly for ego ("How dare you talk back to The Mittani).
It would perhaps have been in the long term interests of Goons to let Test break off and mature while maintaining friendship, just like Pandemic Legion have done. I don't know, I'm not privy to Goon management, maybe it seemed better to risk it all knowing that wulfpax faction war and good fights would be more of a return to Goon core values than a huge bloated space empire that blues everyone and rarely fights.
And there's a real risk of a massive massive CFC failcascade.
Look at the way pets are treated (and you can't begin to claim they're equal partners or whatever):
Quote:The leaked diplomatic logs include this quote from GSF diplomat Tector: "SMA currently has 2300 people and 1200 life jackets, You can hand out those 1200 lifejackets to the people you think are worth saving, or you can hum and haw about how unfair it is to let people die, and you all drownGÇ¥. This amounted to an ultimatum for SMA to cut away its bloat before it drags the alliance below the waves. http://themittani.com/news/slopes-slope-throne-sma-purge?page=0%2C1
No one accepts being talked to like that without resentment. Imagine someone telling Goons to kick a bunch of people. Someone did tell Test to kick a bunch of people and it was 07 to his coalition over it.
You've bullied your pets outrageously for years but it's always been in their best interests to take the beatings and keep their space. You've deliberately commissared people from time to time just to keep the rest honest, like Convicted. Some pets are so terrified that they've instituted draconian rules forcing participation:
Things get real

Come to Fountain. Mount a strat op to free up a moon. Drop 5b of modules. Mine Neo for a week. Lose the moon.
Pretty much the definition of a waste of time - if we can take the moons back soon. |

See, this is why TEST arent winning the propaganda war. There was a great opportunity to say 'They could reimburse anything, except someone sat in a Nyx', but our friend from TEST cant be bothered to dig up the dirt on the people they are having a go at.
It's CO2. In yesterday's meeting they announced TFIs will not be reimbursed. They also banned ratting for the duration. |

You show me which of your leaders (there's not just one, but there's only one Dear Leader-¬!) has helped lead your space guild for the better part of a decade to make it the most powerful in EVE.
