I understand that CCP playes in Jove space but I really wanna go there and meet Jovians. We need new enemies/ ally's to play with. Can CCP go play somewhere else? Jovian ships are great and I believe it is time to move forward with more races and different ships. I'm prolly alone in this thinking however I think this could bring old players back and new players in. Also make it an expansion or a great cinematic. Make Jovians curable and gain their trust. Or make a story line (missions) to unlock the system for a corp or per person. Not sure bout you guys but i want more. |

I prefer the idea of player-created space colonization via the creation of player owned stargates. In just the two years or so that I have played I had to have seen the "Jove Space" thread 1k times at least. They are currently balancing the four empire lines of ships. Could you even imagine the nightmare of adding a race that is lightyears ahead of the empires in terms of tech. Then you will have new players coming in, training merely Jove, and making the rest of us obsolete.
Now, I wouldn't be opposed to say a 250 mission or more epic arc, that spans every region of K space, with dynamic agents (appearing in different places), that may or may not give you passage to Jove Space based on your decisions, and then, when you get there, you are warned of the Disease, given some badass tech (frig, cruiser bpc's, or perhaps other "new" modules) and sent on your way. |

So the game is stuck forever in it's current position with people with moderate ships squabling over space and assets that by comparrison to jovian tech are space junk? Yeah I'd say theres a disconnet somewhere in a CCP slave implant. |

No see, that is where you are wrong. Beyond the borders of K-space, no one knows what is lurking. There could be empires of equal power to one of the current four empires. Pirate factions that kept to themselves, but begin attacking the current universe, the moment a player driven space colonization attempt takes place into their space. There are far more unique possibilities with player colonization.
I suppose if you really want to resurrect a race that has been dying of a disease that basically melts your brain in your head, we could do that. Hell, while we are at it, let's just re-open the EVE Gate, and let the Terrans pour through. We can have one final grand battle where the 4 empires unite, and the Jove come out of their self imposed exile to wreak havoc on the Earth dwellers. But eventually the advanced nature of the Terrans simply make our world burn, and then CCP turns off the servers.......forever.
The Jove are what they are. A mysterious and enigmatic race that makes for good storytelling. Nothing more. Gives the devs a section of space to call their own. The Jove, in itself, from a non-story point of view, are essentially the employees of CCP, gifting players with the chance to be immortal, in the form of a capsuleer. |

Alright, i get that. Very good point. Still, Amarr, Gallente, Minmitar, and Caldari, in space this vast, there has to be more than four races. Yes we did come through the gate with only four races but it is, for me, harder to believe we are alone, aside from pirates. |

The New Eden cluster is located in an unknown part of space that even the more advanced Terrans couldn't locate conventionally. We could be just outside the Milky Way or we could be several galaxies over. No one knows.
As for us specifically... We all started as Terrans. Different small factions... but still Terrans. After the EVE gate collapse most of the fledgling colonies from New Eden died off. Of those that didn't, five came out as the strongest (Amarr, Minmatar, Gallente, Caldari, and Jove)... and the Jove were the only ones [we know about] to retain space age tech through the disaster. The others regained it over the course of 20 thousand years. What other small colonies that also survived either remained primitive cultures or never got to a level where they were "competitive." Usually they were just absorbed by the larger factions (such is the case of the Gallente's Jin Mei, the Amarr's Ni-Kunni, or the Caldari's Achura).
There are some factions though that have nearly reached empire status and have not been crushed (or completely so) by the main empires. Sansha's Nation, The Angels, Serpentis, Guristas, Blood Raiders etc. all have carved out space (however big or small) for themselves in 0.0 space. It's assumed that the only reason they aren't full on empires is because they are primarily military/criminal organizations and/or none of them are really strong enough to take on an empire in a conventional war.
Outside of this... we've come across the ruins of the Talocans, who may have been as advanced as the Jovians (or more so in some respects) but died out for some unknown reason... and the Sleepers, a product of an unknown race (maybe) with ties to the Talocans and Jove (possibly).
Again, everyone in the game is either human(-ish) or human derived. No freaky sentient aliens for us to band together against. And to be honest... I kind of like it this way as it opens up possibilities for mankind to be both the best and worst he/she can be for the best and worst reasons. It's so much more dynamic this way and there is a lot of material that has yet to be fleshed out in New Eden. Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective. |

I agree with you on this one. I would at least like the storyline to move on a little with the Jovians.
BTW, I doubt this thread will get taken seriously, because CCP allowed the threads to be overrun with trolls. You can already see it within the first few post.

the only real problem with the implementation of the Jove is not tech wise, well, maybe that too, but more of the battle doctrine.
which type of tanking would they use, hull?, both armor and shield?, passive+active tanking?
which type of weapons? all the current types have been covered already, and we cannot just make their ships jacks of all trades like with the Gnosis.
due to them being an empire on its own, in the case of becoming another piece of empire space, they would be almost unreachable due to being surrounded by null sec.
which role have the jove in warfare, we know they're advanced than us, but how do they fight?, frontliners?, ranged fighters?, hit and run?, masters of electronic warfare?. how would a jovian fight if it were a playabale race?
how many jovian ships are left to complete the whole lines in all aspects?, they have like 2 frigates, 1 cruiser 1 battleship and a single industrial. do they even need T2 ships or faction?, how would look a jovian capital ship? or a jovian supercap?, do them have T3 cruisers?
its more of the work it would take in order to make them playable. not just enabling to enter their space, it would require a whole expansion to do that, changing the sec lvl es certain parts of null sec, putting stargates, balancing the current tech of them, also, adding more ships and modules in the case they would require a new type of weapons. and most important, lore, NPC corps, more agents, more missions, a new FW interaction (do they even have allies?), among other things.

Well im pretty sure Jove frigates could tank concord. Not sure how they would do implimentation but maybe make them the next step up. I mean imagine a Jove titan ( should call it GOD HAMMER) it could doomsday a station and rip a hole in time or maybe add the terrans. Or open the gate back up and wage war in new eden/ new space to obtain explore conquor. Also get rid of the pods. We have a crew operating automated systems and I'm naked in a pod gooping it up with me and ma brain..... I see your point though. |

the only way the jovians could be a playable race would mean a big shift in the history, in order to be on par with the other empires, the jovians would have had to suffer another fall, this means, a complete restart of their civilization up to a level at least higher than Amarr.
that or buff the whole other empires, which would be crazy anyways. but i can see the Jovians in a tech scale between T2 and T3 right now, i mean. modern jovians shouldnt have the same technological power of their ancestors...right? |
