Hi there
I have now seen several offers in the Trade Channel listing these new Miners. Are they for real or just a scam (as i suppose)?

they don't need to patch to change what pirate's drop.
The Miner II is out in the game. I have seen them in my trade window for verification. This was a tech 2 device. Realize that CCP set up tech2 - tech 5 products to be only manufactured by PC's. There will be hight tech devices that you will need to either duplicat, when the skill comes avail, or make a BP from the item with Reverse engineering.
From what I can tell, a pirate dropped 2 bp's and both were copies.

Ive heard that a GM traded the Miner 2 BP to TTI in exchange for their Tech lvl5 Jove laser that they got ahold of.
just what i heard for 3 different sources... still not proven tho.

Yeah I think that CCP used the "Jove Miner" snafu for something good.. they did what several players suggested, and used the event as a chance to RP the introduction of some tech 2 equipment. The "jovian ambassadors" supposedly went to TTI's home base, and "encouraged" them to return the tech 5 laser(s) in exchange for a Tech2 Miner BP copy. It was a good solution that got the Tech 5 equipment out of the game and yet didnt shaft TTI by making them lose their investment that they spent to acquire the Tech 5 laser in the first place.

well these lasers do exist as i have bought 2 of em...... The story about TTI seems to be true as far as i know too.
Christy and 7sunami have the 2 Bp copies and sell the lasers for around 5.5 million each Or buy a BPc for only 1.45 billion isk.

Ok, I have a question about the price, which I have seen at 6 Million ISK now in the trade channel.
The step from a Miner I to a CU Vapor is an increase of about 15.93 Omber per minute (example). Now I bought my Vapors for 2 Million each before the price went through the roof for them. So 2,000,000 ISK divided by the 15.93 increase in Omber (again an example) would mean I paid 125,549 ISK per 1 increase.
The new Miner II's are an increase of 35.4 increase over the Miner I's and a 19.47 over the Vapors. This means if you buy a Miner II your looking at 169,491 ISK per unit of increase for the Miner II. The difference between the Vapor and the Miner II price wise is about 4 Million now since Vapors have come back down in price... So take that 4 million and the 19.47 increase from Vapors to Miner II's and your paying 205,444 ISK per unit of increase...
In my book the Vapors are the better buy until the Miner II's come down in price. Vapors are back to 1.5 to 2 million ISK now which is even better then the figures above if you can grab one for 1.5 million. The price of the Miner II's will come down, and until then I suggest buying the Vapors for cheaper and allowing the price to drop a little...
Note: I don't sell Vapors, this is simply some math to put the future price of Miner II's into prospective. I would say 4 to 4.5 Million ISK a Miner would be about right for what they offer over the Vapors...

6 mil?? HAHAHA
Go and buy a Thorax instead and you will have much better result then with a miner II.
5 lasers and up to 10 drones will do hell of a lot more then 1-3 miner II
the stupidity are in the people buying these things, not the people that have the guts to rob you of your isk

I would pay 4 Million for a Miner II for the simple fact that I am a miner, so the extra ore mined would pay for them in about a month or so. However for the average person I would not suggest these lasers.
If you have Mining Lvl 4-5 then sure pick them up, but don't stick them on a Frigate for god sakes...These types of lasers are meant to be used on Thorax's and Battleships, those that can hold 5 plus Miner II's... I have Mining Lvl 5 and I am not going to purchase any until they come down, cause even at an extra 7,200 Omber an hour it would take about 5.5 days (133 hours) of non stop mining for me to have paid for the lasers at 6 Million each...
Believe it or not, the customer sets the price, not the business. The business only sets the price for the stupid customer, or the gadget freaks who want the best no matter the cost...

I dont think its fair what CCP did... Now TTI is going to make billions of isk by having a monopoly on Miner 2's... CCP should have just said "You shouldnt have been able to get that Jove Laser in the game yet" and took it back from them.... now the economy is going to be even more fuXXored.

Edited by: PropanElgen on 10/08/2003 18:05:15 Okay, can some official CCP person tell us which CCP employee/volunteer are playing in the TTI corp?
They take back something TTI paid 50 mill for, and gives them something that is much more valuable?? What kind of bullcrap is this??
How is it that TTI deserves these "favors" from CCP?

I think the biggest disappointment here would be for the person who sold TTI the laser. I bet if they knew that it would 'turn into' a Miner II print, they would not have traded it for that petty sum. I would be seriously PO'd if I was that person.

For those that already have a Thorax, these lasers will pay for themselves in under 10 hours of mining Bistot.
If you mine anything less, don't bother buying one of these lasers at that price. If you mine bistot, the investment is worth it. :) ---------------- Blue Screen of Death CEO Exodus Enterprises |

BSOD you are so right.. if you are in a Thorax and mine bistot.. but why not use 30 mil for something else.. like making another 50 mil shortly and get a BS?
and I do say congrats TTI.. but I won't comment my feelings towards CCP who yet again disappoints me.

oh yeah, lets roleplay a serious snafu made by CCP by allowing a Polaris member to inform his TTI brothers of the Level 5 Mining Laser and how to aquire it.
And the to make it even worse by "trading" tech 2 blueprints in exchange for the item.
Its a well known fact that most of the Polaris team is also members of TTI so it would be natural that They would get all the prime items before anyone else.

Hell, to take away one level 5 laser and replace it with a BPC makes no sense... the BPC is far too valuable. They are making about 10 million ISK per hour selling miner2s. That's a quarter of a billion ISK per day.
That is total crap. If this kind of thing continues, why play? You can work for weeks and not make the kind of money someone is making as a result of a bad GM decision. Stupid, totally stupid.

Personally, I think this single minded distribution to one corp has hurt the game quite a bit. But it's just another step of illogic behaviour. Why would Pirates be able to research and produce better equipment when there's 4 empires full of capable scientists?

I completely agree, I can't understand WHY CCP gave an advantage like this to a single Corp. We all pay good RL money, so it's really bad what happened. Damn, why a Corp should have the capability to manufacture or use items that are not yet in the game??? And last thing, the other REAL, BIG problem is the stupid ppl that will buy them... can't u wait ? No? Ok, continue to let that corp be richer and richer... Sorry folks, I call it a "scam".

What makes this even worse is that CCP is burying their heads in the sand on this issue. The boards are full of it and not one post from a CCP rep.
SHOCKING!
So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong and to strike at what is weak. |

it's not only TTI that have blueprints.
And TTI could have made more money using the Tech V laser and then using reverse engineering on it after the skill's release.

Weren't TTI also the first ones to have battleships? Hmm.
If TTI got the tech V laser from a lucky loot drop or exploration, I have no gripes. But if they're being fed intel from people working with CCP, then its industrial espionage pure and simple. And rewarding them with a Miner II bp for giving back the Jove laser is like paying a ransom.
It seems extremely unfair to everyone else in game.
I reserve judgment as there are a lot rumors flying around and this could be untrue. --------------

Wah wah they have a monopoly. This isn't America we don't have to wait for years for courts to battle the monopoly before the courts run out of money and give up. Theres got to be some rival corps out there that are hurt by TTI. I know TTI is a huge corp and all but if you rally up a dozen or so corps and declare war on them maybe you can squeeze them till the isk comes flowing out. Cro out!

This hurt the player community, plain-and-simple. It has created a huge distrust in CCP, among many loyal players of the game. I wonder if CCP took into consideration the amount of real money they will loose, due to players quiting the game due to (for lack of any other description) internal corruption. 1) It is rumour that TTI has the BP - so far only confirmed owners are "Crystie" (belongs to starter corp) and 7sunami (belongs to OEC, a company that has nothing to do with TTI.
2) Polaris has no power to distribute items. The person who gave the Nibelung miner was an employee of CCP - Polaris is volunteers (players).
3) Polaris had nothing to do with the BPs getting into the game. That is purely under CCP control.

Yep thats true. Everyone keeps making the (incorrect) assumption that a person in Polaris is a GM. That is not true. All polaris members are volunteers. They are players just like you and me who go through a short training class on how the in game petition system works, and then get sent out to be the tier 1 petition answerers. Polaris members as a general rule get no more information about whats upcoming in the game than you or I do. They have ZERO control over giving out items or anything else (which is coincidentally enough why they have no power to help players who lose stuff due to bugs.... they simply cant hand stuff out at all). Anyone who is torqued about TTI alegedly coming into possession of a miner 2 BP in exchange for the Tech 5 mining laser they acquired needs to direct their frustration to the GM's, most of whom probably NEVER read the forums. The only game staff likely to see this thread are forum moderators, who again are just Polaris volunteers (albeit senior ones). If you really want to gripe, call CCP (you can obtain a contact phone number by doing a whois search on ccpgames.com on network solutions), of course the call is long distance for most of us, since CCP is in Iceland.

I petitioned today to get a stance of CCP towards this issue. The response was, that they don't have an answer yet but will release it in the next few days. Meanwhile, a Megacorp (who has enough cash anyway) will continue making 5.88 Mill benefit each 30 mins.
Is this fair? Hardly.
