I love the look of this ship, and there's alot of different things I like doing in this game and I'm still trying to figure what stuff to do. I have a fully fit railgun brutix good to go, but I'm wondering what a Brutix is mainly used for?

Auxiliary Thrusthers and Polycarbon rigs increase your speed, and Zor's Custom Navigation Hyper Link and the Snake set are implants that increase speed. An afterburner or microwarpdrive is the best way to speed your ship up though.
Brutix is used primarily as a blaster boat for pvp, either shield tanked or active armor tanked. It can do okay at PvE too though it's not the best in that regard.

The Brutix is primarily used as DPS/gank boat... word is still out on whether or not it's just as effective as a tanker as the Myrmidon.
Also...
- do you want to use it primarily for missions or for PvP? The fits differ radically.
- why do you want to avoid using an AB or MWD? Both are pretty much staples of combat in general. Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective. |

As a short range in your face gun faesmelt DPS boat its really PVP oriented. Medium rails are just too ****, people do run PVE in Brutixes but that is suboptimal choice. Gallente BC of PVE choice is the Myrmidon.
For speed, check all the available skills in "Navigation" category and start learning. |

Nothing specifically. I liked the look of the Brutix, and it's bonuses seemed good, so I went with it hoping to do exploring. I really want to do PvP mainly, but I don't have enough money to fund my Brutix for PvP. For PvE fitting, I think I have it covered from a different thread I made, but if you want to check it out here it is:
6x 250mm Railgun I, Antimatter Charge M
2x Cap Recharger I 10mn Afterburner I Tracking Computer I, Optimal Range Script
2x MAgnetic Field Stabalizer 1x Medium Armor Repairer I 1x Armor Explosive Hardener I 1x Armor Kinetic Hardener I 1x Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane
5x Hobgoblin I 5x Salvage Drone I
Obviously I'm going to be training skills to upgrade all the above to tech 2, but atm I haven't.
Quote:- do you want to use it primarily for missions or for PvP? The fits differ radically.
Well the thing is is that I really want to PvP, but I don't have the funding to be able to replace my Brutix if it dies, which is why I only fly in high sec. I'm trying to get enough money to replace it 5x over before I actually use it for PvP. Which is why I have it fit for missions atm.
Quote:- why do you want to avoid using an AB or MWD? Both are pretty much staples of combat in general.
I actually use an AB atm, but I don't have enough room to equip a MWD, but I still feel slow.

He's talking about ganking mining barges.
Really thought the Brutix is a pretty crappy PvE boat, the Myrm does everything better with more versatility due to drones. I did the same thing (really I bought a Brutix on a drunken impulse buy) but got over that quickly as soon as I could afford a myrm. |

Don't start PvPing with a Brutix. Buy a few dozen T1 frigs first, and lose them all. Hopefully after that you will know a lot more about PvP, so find friends and fly big ships along side their big ships.

fit up a bunch of meta 0 frigates and go die in a fire with them. You'll learn loads about pvp doin that. Upgrade fits as you make more isk. I love a 20mil t2 fit thrasher as much as the next guy but you can fit up ten 2 mil thrashers while only losing maybe 30% efficiency instead and get a lot more pew for your buck. |

What does meta 0 mean? What do you mean dying in a fire? Just going after people in lowsec? Are thrashers better or rifters? I use rifters atm. |

Show info on an item and go to variations. Click compare button. Find meta level and compare the meta levels of the items. Generally the items named like Warp Scrambler I are meta 0.
What i mean by dying in a fire is goin out looking for a fight and not being afraid of losing your ship. Be it dueling people in hubs, goin to lowsec, goin to nullsec or even roaming wh's. Basically when i go out roaming in a 'die in a fire' mindset I'm literally out trying to lose my ship. This doesn't mean go lose your ship in stupid fights ( you might not know whats stupid or not at this time... you will quickly learn ) it does mean take a lot of chances. I've gotten some pretty hilarious or glorious kills trying to die in fire.
No ship is better then another in a general sense. Eve is about specializing roles. I only used thrasher as an example since its my favorite hull in the game. I'd recommend you using the cheapest fit frigates you can conceive. Rifters are awesome ship. Go experiment with different frigs and find what role you enjoy flying |

This is absolutely true, the thing is that when you know it and make it so you're fighting it in the 20km envelope of a T1 disruptor you can even go down to the web range slowly because the time the Brutix will be able to apply any any dmg ot you he's almost dead and if you use ECM drones he's already dead before you've even wasted time targeting it.
As with every Gallente ship don't play the fools game, don't play in web/scram range with and you have nothing to fear from them, they're simply harmless past this envelope (except for large blasters). Hence why they can and should be feared in the sole aspect in the game they're clearly meant for: gate/station kissing or gank.
For everything else you have better options. Notice I'm not saying you can't succeed, there are idiots everywhere from new to older players and I'm one of them, but a smarter pilot will never get powned by a Gallente hull unless specific situations as station hugging or gate camps with lots of rapiers/arazus tackling the target. *removed inappropriate ASCII art signature* - CCP Eterne |

If you're having fundamental questions like this, your best bet is probably to get into one of a multitude of new-player friendly starter corps that'll teach and show you about ship fittings, combat basics, skill queues, etc.
Eve University is one general, all-inclusive (missions, mining, some pvp) training corp, Red vs Blue if you want to learn to pvp--and do it A LOT of it, Fweddit is reddit's Faction Warfare corp (new player friendly), and Brave Newbies is another new-player-focused pvp corp. I'd check them all out. Talk to people in game who are in them, and they'll tell you how to join, what's involved, day-to-day activities, etc. This certainly isn't an exhaustive list, but it's some of the most well known.

Rifter is only decent anymore, its no longer the king T1 friglet. Condor is all around better, You can make arguments for Tristan Incursis, Executioner and a couple others.

[Talos, talos]
8x Neutron Blaster Cannon II (Federation Navy Iridium Charge L)
10MN Microwarpdrive II Large Shield Extender II Adaptive Invulnerability Field II EM Ward Amplifier II
2x Magnetic Field Stabilizer II 2x Tracking Enhancer II Internal Force Field Array I
2x Medium Core Defense Field Extender I Medium Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I
891 DPS with faction antimatter, hits 22km optimal + falloff with a ~0.1 tracking 30keHP 28km with null at 710 DPS and runs +2km/s overheated. That Irridium does 530dps to point range.....
That is big enough damage that 5 will break the tank on a baddon before reps land, factor in a dictor and some EC-300 loving and the Talos is a nasty nasty thing.
Oh and that itsn't all Vs I build that with my current skills. |
