I'm sure there are plenty of thread on this but to be completely honest I can't be bothered to go wading through the forum to find them. After about a minute of logging in I get "socket closed" it is a constant problem now and the game is unplayable.
I've tried running the game through wire, wireless, with & without firewall or antivirus, no other programs running, with the launcher (piece of **** by the way) and without the launcher nothing helps. I'm on a fibre line getting 12mps up and down at peak time.
Any suggestions or links to other threads would be appreciated. Only been subbed over a month and all I have seen is launcher and server issues, not very good. |

My advice would be for you to take active measures to keep these sockets open. When one closes, find out why it closed, and see if you can do anything to keep it open. Depending on the diameter of your socket, you could try making a PVC pipe stent to keep the socket open at all times.
Your mileage may vary.
Oh, and Welcome to EvE.

I live in Australia and get ~80Mbps on average. Australia has the worst internet in the developed world. Except maybe NZ, of course. But they're not even a real country anyway.
You can have screenshots of multiple speed test from different clients if it helps you sleep better. I did mention this was at peak time when my area see's a lot of heavy usage. |

dark heartt wrote:Welcome to Eve. The issues have all sort of come up in the last month so don't get disheartened. As far as socket disconnects, I used to get them regularly, and the issue for me was my modem (a Belkin one), changed it to another brand and have not had an issue since.
So the only person who has attempted to give advice is basically saying "yeah it doesn't work put up with it". That's like buying a bus ticket then it not showing so you walk anyway.

IF ISP's get short on bandwidth they will start actively shutting down inactive connections. Just because you are getting 12 meg to your house doesn't mean there isn't a throttle somewhere down the line.
Sad part is some companies will offer high rates to your house but not have the trunks to support it. Basically they are counting on burst traffic to get them through. Web traffic, downloads, email are all burst traffic. Sadly for online gaming you need sustained traffic (real-time traffic). Truth be told a constant 1 meg is worth a lot more then a 12 meg burst when it comes to online gaming.
One work around is to keep an active in game chat channel open, ie open up the help channel and stuff it in the background. But that only works if they are trying to shut down inactive connections.
Another option is to reduce your MTU from 1500 down to 800. Technically you will be using more bandwidth but you are playing the odds that by increasing your packet count enough will get through to maintain your connection.
Hmm the thing is any other game I play online works just fine I have no connection issues. Constant disconnects are only an issue with eve for me. I'll give this a try anyway and see how it goes. |

I'm on win7 not OSX. I'm probably going to regret saying this but I don't know what you mean by ripping out the DED |
