Yup, not seeing many hands...
^^^ Is this the real situation? How many accounts do you all have? if there is an average of say, 2.4 accounts per person, then really wen the 'players' count at logon says '17000' it really means about 5000.
Looking in another thread, i see one mod/dev/important person has FIVE FREEKIN' ACCOUNTS! LMAO! so... hands up if you are an EVE player, only 1 hand per account hold, not per account please...

I don't see how big the difference is.
Normal RPG = multiple/char accounts for mules and alts
EVE = infinite storage so multple char/accounts for better crafting/alts.
I garauntee you if there was finite storage space but 1 person could mine/haul and defend all at once you'd still have alot of extra accounts/alts.
I know people who play Wow with multiple accounts and they have 10 char per server 50 per account total. we get 3.
And yes I have multiple. Sometimes I wish I'd stuck with one, sometimes I'm glad of what I can achieve solo. It's a catch, you lose personal immersion for achievement.

I'm not afraid to admit that my BF and I have 4 accounts. Two we inherited. We love EVE and do play both accounts quite often. So really why are you wanting to know how many accoutns people have??

Heh. Only one account/character here. Don't think the thought of making a second account hasn't occured to me though. Still, I think I'll be fine with one.

If you can afford it why not? Not only that alot of people took advantage of the get 6 months for a cheap price offer for ure 2nd account that was out a while ago, so alot of people problerly kept that going i think thats partly responsible for the increased players online.

I have 3 accounts. One of which is not linked in any way to ricdic & ricdics. It is great for doing those things that you want to do, but know you would get your arse kicked by fellow corpmates for
And yes, I cashed in on that second account deal for 6 months thing. I think it was a superb deal, and if it came around again, I would probably sign up another 1 or 2 accounts (at least for the 6 months then a spot on the WTS forums)

I had two (I used the power of 2 campaign) Trained up second account to have absolute perfect refine, scrapmetal and all. Then I merged him into my main account, So yeah I only have 1 atm.

2. This is my main, trained in combat, then i have a (rather new) industry char on the 2nd account.
Eventually theyll both be able to run 5 R&D agents each ^^;

2 accounts, one still in trial. And i would only have one if not for the training restriction. I'm training a char to RP with as Mr. Floppyknickers isn't the most... shall we say... immersed name. And one I am comfortable with the second chars skill postion, likely a couple months, it'll be a transfer and back down to one account.

well 70k active paying accounts another 15k trail accounts
Poential on the paying accounts up to 210k characters thats 3 alts for every paying account
That doesnt include pepole that have paid and played in the past there might be another 100k such accoutns sitting on the database waiting for reactivation or removal

4 accounts, but I don't play them all at the same time, since I have only one computer.
I use only one in PvP at the same time and two for npc'ing and usually there's pvp in the evening so only one of my accounts count for these 17000+ numbers.

I know somebody having 10 accounts (she doesn't macro-mine)...
Many have hight speciality and some manage small corporations.
She also has 3 computers and I guess a lot of time...
Personaly I have 2 accounts, one character on each one (alt being hauler/miner...AKA as "carebear")

Would be nice if CCP released details such as this, not just paying customers (which iirc is somewhere in the region of 60,000) but UNIQUE paying customers. I, by the way, have 2 accounts, of which one has been inactive for about 4 months.

I once had 3... traded them for isk (legal) in game...
No point in having so many accounts. If your good, you can make alot of isk on one account.

4 accounts. 8 characters that I use regularly (No alt spies, I don't believe in that. Some are just regional market watchers). Bhaal gets 75% of the gametime however...
I realized due to RL I'd never get to do all the things I want to do in EVE with 1 character. I had 2 accounts virtually right from release onward, and it snowballed a bit.
4 will be my max, and once I have my "4th main" trained up I may consolidate back to 3 accounts, or even down to 2.
Multiple accounts is a part-time players best friend IMO.

I got 3, but I'm going to ditch one of them because I never use him at all (okay, maybe to watch the market or check a gate for camps or something). He's getting sold but I'm going to train him up a little more to make him better value. The other two accounts are specialised - one combat and the other industry.
Yes, the 17,000 is a marketing joke. Especially with the BP lottery, it pays to have multiple accounts with each one whoring research agents. That is probably one of the main reasons for subscription number increases. I don't doubt there are more players, but I bet there are more additional accounts than new ones by a mile.

I have four now. I only had one after release, but after I found out of value of having a scout, I got a second. Also helped me mine for my first ships (1 miner, 1 hauler).
The third was an effort to go in a totally different direction in the game, but ultimately it got used as an alt as well, and I very recently got a 4th for no really good reason.
Having 2 accounts is invaluable. I've never lost a key cargo when hauling or got uber ganked at a gate since I got the secnond. More than 2 is diminishing returns, I'm currently using my third account mostly to train an really good alt, and will probably cut out the 4th account this month, and move the third account main to one of my two accounts.
The money also gets a little tight with 4, although I subscribe at 6-mo intervals now and that reduces costs some.
By the way, I'm a little offended at the tone of the original post. Having just one account doesn't make you special, it's just a gameplay choice you've made that you prefer, either for personal, ideological or economic reasons. For me one account would mean I would enjoy the game less, especially running into huge bubble gankfests with a tech-II equipped BS . I save time by losing ships only in fleet combat or fights I consider even or worth fighting.

I think you are missing the point. The point is that they hold the bragging rights for allowing more accounts logged in at the same time and in the same world than anyone else has before. It's the same story no matter what MMO you go to, many of the players have multiple accounts. But some MMO's only have the capability to hold up to 3 or 4 thousand players at the same time, in the same world.
I don't know. Maybe I am missing the point? But that is what I see.
I have 2 accounts myslef. And when I played Ultima Online several years ago, I had 3 accounts after playing for 3 years.
Either way, I very rarely log more than 1 in at the same time.

One account, I can't afford two accounts, and if I could I probably wouldn't.
I prefer the social atmosphere of having to team up with others to handle situations that require mutliple players. I've got one main character that gets trained, and one alt character that hasn't been trained, or used since the day he was created.

one account, but I am tempted to make an empire carebear account. When your about 40 jumps from the nearest empire system, going back there to do purchases and other assorted things is a pain in the arse, even more so with the proposed changes to insta's.
So im considering starting up a series of trial accounts (I'm not going to be paying for it, i dont have the money, and haulers arent that hard to train.) in order to haul stuff between empire and 0.0 while I mine/rat/pvp on the main account.
