Let's say I don't believe that manufacturing of tech level 2, 3, 4 or 5 items will be different from level 1. ;)

Doubtful.
Those with "superior" pieces of equipment will simply be targets, highly profitable ones at that, for Pirates and rival companies.
Any "GM items" won't stay in the same hands for too long, even a fool could see that.

the economy is ruined if this is turning out to be true about the miner 2 bps.
certain corps will make billiosn from those bps and will in effect be able to buy and sell the rest of the eve universe many times over and all because they got 'gifts from god'
totally disgusting and uncalled for. --

It seems GM are only acting to give a hand to their own friends...
I only hope I am wrong but that's the common way of some people think a roleplayed game should be: giving some godly stuff to selected people and everyone should be happy with this.

Edited by: Luc Boye on 09/08/2003 23:15:26 well let GM's and their friends have it, so they can pod each other over and over again. That would be fun, 300 people on Tranq. and the rest of the player base playing something else.
God I wish some interesting game would come, this sucks. And don't give me that "life is not fair, neither is Eve" crap, I'm paying for this game so it better ******* be fair.
I didn't whine when I got blown up by pirates or anything, cos they have to make it at the same terms as I do, divine intervention just sucks. --

Exactly the same as me. I'm just fuming. Haven't been willing to log in at all. If they handle it gracefully, then I'll re-integrate myself into the game.
If they say "suck it up buttercup, these are the thing's we're going to be doing in the game, it's FUN to give out sole production means to a few select individuals for no reason and we're going to continue it" then that button is as good as pressed.
If they don't say anything in the next couple days. Well, subscriptions cancelled.

I personally am more concerned with the complete inability of GM's to redress losses caused by bugs, whether it be ships, security rating, modules, etc.

If the pace of the game is going to be dictated by which uber corps get free gifts from GMs then they can kiss my swingers when renewal comes around.

Question:
If these parts do sell for "billions" and someone buys them, how is that ruining the game?
If someone is stupid enough to pay such an absurd amount of money for a _single_ item...well, something's very wrong with them.

Janet with them being pretty much sole suplliers and selling for 5.5 mill a piece and producing at a rate of 1 per half hour thats 264 million a day. 48 sold per day isnt too hard with the EVE population.
In my opinion if they did receive any compensation other than what they paid for the orignal item that caused this affair then it throws the role of GM's/Dev's into question.
If they found it fairly then no problem

Edited by: OverKill on 10/08/2003 01:28:47 I think that there is some serious internal evaluation which needs to go on over at the CCP headquarters.
I think they need to bring in staff who are not attached to the game, nor drawn from the subscription base and I think that GMs should be forbidden to participate in player run corporations upon pain of GM termination.
That won't stop the flow of "gifts from god" but it will certainly stem them a little bit.
Otherwise I am afraid EVE will not last 18 months.
If they do insist on "giving out stuff" then I think they should balance things. Say for instance two alliances are enemies... one gets a tech level 2 weapon, one gets a tech level 2 counter measure or something like that. I also think they need to NOT forget about the solo trader or player because they will be lost waaaaaay behind otherwise.

But back to original post, yes vote. If the GM's are to give Tech 2 BP's out, these BP's should have production run limits. I'd say no more than 4 items, otherwise you just fvk'd everyone else.

i am honestly unhappy with the way this has started and is being run
there are many things wrong with this game and they need to be fixed
hooking up your fav pet corp and trying to cover it up with the board mods as they are in said corp is BS
fix the war button fix corp tax fix the server crashs fix the ship mods going of line fixs the agents (way before you plan on having people use them for new stuff)
if by some "bug" you put tech 5 crap in game take it out delete it from the DB done dont give your pet corp unfair advatage just becouse they mod your boards for you ================================================
I just find laughable that, despite all the big talk, they end their "careers" in such a way. oO |

Edited by: Dre'ntyn Corbol on 10/08/2003 03:15:36 Basically it goes like this for me.. If things dont change. if the bugs arent worked out, the features i was promised when i dished out 40 bucks for the game added, and this lack of any organization or policy in regards to decisons involving the game are fixed, Well then see ya. I will be out.
I feel as if in classic mmorpg style another company has yet again released a game that was no where ready for debut. I learned this when Anarchy Online came out. I quit in a week. A year later, after the bugs and bs were straightened out, I went back and actually enjoyed the game for quite awhile.
Every time my subscription is due, I wince. I feel as if I am paying to beta test. Im not down with that.
I feel waiting it out for the past 3 months has shown patience on my end. thru all the bluescreens, CTD's, and assorted BS, lack of anything to do but repeatedly mine or kill the same damned rat, that I have stuck with it. believeing whole heartedly that things will improve. This latest episode make me question my choices.
Since concord attacked mo0 and interfered in the game, I have worried how much of a presence/impact CCP would have ingame. This BP gift tells me quite abit. It tells me i might need to find a new game.
so I say, hurry CCP, the clock is ticking. There are too many damned good games on the horizon. I'll ditch you like a skanky ho

I am rather puzzled at the mere fact that this thread mentions economy. I havent seen any "real" economy yet. The lacking use of the market features to set up anything resembling an economy, makes me doubt the CCP as much as the actual players. Either the realm is to big to make the actual market visible, or the things called economy isnt really happening yet.

And another "yes" vote here.
That little nibelung mining laser wasn't a big deal. So, one sole apoc could effciently mine with 12-13 instead 8 cu-vaps - don't really understood the shouting about that. Perhaps people thought TTI had more than one of them.
But THAT?? Giving a freaking Tech Lvl 2 BP in exchange? If it is true, that is, since we still have no dev response where the miner 2 BP comes from. ATM everything speaks it was exchanged for the nibelung, though. There were two Nibelungs AFAIK and now there are 2 Miner 2 BP - what a coincidence...
8 Miner II would have been a fair exchange vs the Nibelung. Some people would have *****ed about it for sure, but..oh well.. It wouldn't be really a huge advantage.
But a BP is TOTALLY out of order. If this is not handled AFAP by the devs and they don't make sure those giftings won't happen anymore in the future it will be the ultimate gamekiller.
Bugs, CTD, exploits..in the end they are not as bad. But seeing that someone else get's something not because he worked more or was cleverer - but only because he has the right...connections is something entirely else. Sure, it happens in the RW all the time, but this is a game. And people want to have fun - and, sorry, that is NO fun.
