So I was staying up late to catch this supposed miniseries, two whole episodes. Already there I should've smelled something funny. I watch it all and it ends with an exodus for the humans vs their rogue drone nemesis.
What gives, was this a pilot for a series cut in two or was it supposed to leave it all hanging like that with no grand finale?
Remind me about The Maze.

The second season isn't finished yet in the States, and in fact, hasn't even started showing in the UK. In January, Season II carries on in America with episode 11, which picks up from a fairly big cliffhanger at the end of Episode 10, where the sci-fi channel decided to split season II into two parts, so as not to put one of their most viewed shows on at the same time as other major channels...bizarre but then the USA does have a heckuva lot more channels than the UK.
No idea when it starts showing in the UK, and it'll be a long while before the box set shows up :) -------------

Ohhhhh...I thought the Pegasus was the season finale and the second part of it was going to be the season 3 premiere. Anyway, keep watching Danton, it just gets better and better with every episode.

Being on the American side of the pond, I have to say that I like the way Sci-Fi Channel runs their seasons counter to the schedule used by the other broadcast (and most cable) networks. Means the best shows on TV don't have to go up against that "reality" BS, and I have something good to watch in the middle of winter.

Porkchop, you've probably noticed by now that in many ways, they've been going back to the 1978 series for plot ideas and devices. Sure, if you had never seen it, you wouldn't know, and there have been significant departures from the original, but between the Cylon attack and subsequent events, you can at least get a general feel for what has happened, or will happen, if you're familiar with the original.
The problem with this, of course, is what do they do when they run out of original 1978 material?

I was blown away by just how good this remake is compared to the original. When I was a kid the original was great but these days it's just plain funny. This new series is much darker, more atmospheric and cerebral. It seems as though the franchise has grown up with me (... yaaa, I can hear chuckling in the background ...).
I loved the first series so much I bought the box set on DVD and watched every episode, one after the other with beer, ciggies and indigestion (it was a BSG marathon). Hope to get the 2nd series for xmas, as I haven't seen it on Sci-Fi.
btw: Trisha Helfer semi-naked doesn't do the show any harm either. Probably Canadas greatest export .

Probably the best sci fi to come out in a long time.

Atleast they are showing it : here in belgium they never even heard of things like battlestar galactica , red dwarf, deep space 9, babylon-5,...
One thing they did do was air the horrible "new" enterprise. And the best thing they ever did : started showing voyager from season 3 somewhere halfway through it (they didn't show the first part of future's end) the series just started with "last time on voyager". WTF?!
And ofcourse 3 weeks later they suddenly stopped airing it like that *poof*!

Yeah, on behalf of Canadians I offer Tricia Helfer as compensation for the pain Bryan Adams' music put everyone through. We're sorry, and we hope this will make it up to you all.
As for the show, best sci-fi I've seen in decades. The miniseries was fantastic and it's only gotten better from there, and yes it was a pilot for the series. How about that opening of the interior of Galactica though?! A 5 minute single shot introducing the entire set and almost every main character with no cutting... ace. And the Vipers?! Dead sexy.

Then what do we offer in exchange for Celine Dion? I feel terribly guilty about inflicting her on the rest of the world

Here they just ran the pilot as a miniseries without any intention of ever showing the series from my understanding.
About BSG tech II, they actually revert back to tech I to be able to cope with the rogue drones, maybe there's a thing to copy, rogue drones being better at jamming high tech ships than lower tech ones...

Welcome to the Skiffy Channel and its bizzare season schedules. Back when Farscape was their hot thing, you'd often see 11 episodes of one season, three months of reruns, then the last 10 episodes of that season, then one month wait, then the start of the next season. Whatever.
I suppose it does help in not conflicting with "Who Wants to Be a Surviver's Big Brother?", or whatever is playing on those other channels, but it also makes for forum postings like:
"Hi all, I just finished watching the end of season 6, and I thought . . . "
Except the rest of us were watching new episodes in season 4 with full knowledge of the cancelation coming at the end of the season. You can't really blame the forum poster, though, since Skiffy's scheduals defy how things work everywhere else.
