Wierd, runs just fine here, high/high aa/af. I hear its a question fo drivers with NV cards. FX-53/X850XT/1GB here.
I love it, btw. Its buggy and beta, just like X2 was at this point of time. It still rocks.

Rofl. The graphics in X3 put every other game ive ever mplayed to shame 
And if you cant handle downloading patches, then dont play ANY X-Game. X2 was much worse than X3 @ version 1.2.

im running eveyrthing on high/high aa/af with no noticeable slowdowns, and my system is AMD 64 FX-53, 1GB RAM, ATI X850XT PCI-E

X2.. a year or 2?
The US distributor is, unfortunately, Enlight, which blows - most us/canada copies of X3 have borked manuals and borked CDs.
