Unfortunately they do. Now I am all for frollicing around in meadows naked, but civilizations require governments. We believe in them because there is a need for them. Governments are essential for civilizations, and for the most part civilizations are necessarily good things.

No thank you. What your describing is called chaos and would result in the near total extermination of our species. Without functional order, relying on the whim of the individual societies and by extensions civilizations crumble. As very few will do the unpleasant things that need to be done to maintain communities.
To put it in very practical terms. Someone is going to have to muck out the public privy sooner or later and folks that like to run naked in meadows usually won't volunteer.

Cipher, part of my education at the SWA required some reading of foreign political theory. A very interesting treatise from the Federation -- 'Temporary Autonomous Zone' or something like? I forget the author -- posited that all revolutions inevitably turn on themselves, as they establish a new power structure.
Come to think of it, this is commonly associated with 'festal' or 'rave' culture, whatever that is.

You counter a lot of my points. And you are right. You counter my points based on your life experience, on what you have seen and observed and what you believe or have been led to believe.
I like to think beyond the constraints of what has been presented to us by media, by education and by our peers. And that is my choice.
I'd like to provide insight in how for just a few hours we can let go of all these constraints, we can experience the freedom and at the same time the responsibilities that come with it. What we do is far from pointless, and the only way to see this is experience it.
