Some ships (probably all) are loosing some of their texture colors when zoomed out. I noticed it on Brutix and Enyo. Enyo loses colour only on tech1 parts of 3d model.

I think that's part of the point of LOD, no?

lod, Level of detail.
This is suposed to make the game "reduce" details to keep the FPS up and running when zooming out.
This works as intended afaik.

Good news IMHO. Too darned much detail generally. I'd like to see it rolled WAY back on drones, with an option to zoom in on them and show them in their glory, but otherwise them just be little x's in space.
Zoomed out there should be pretty much no detail at all. The whole point of me zooming out in the first place is for a tactical view of the situation, and all I'm really seeing is squares of various colours anyways.
Eve is pretty, and that's great, but it should only load the goodies when one toggles a certain level of zoom.

They really need an option that turns all models but planetery ones off, for large fleet battles. You can't admire the pretty graphics in the middle of fleet battles anyway.
And I looked and behold: a pale horse. And his name, that sat on him, was Death. And Hell followed with him |

Yes, it's LOD thingy but it works too soon. I play EVE partly for great graphics. I don't want CCP to reduce all things in game to points and symbols.
There is an option to turn off LOD but it slows game too much. I will welcome an option to set level of LOD with few steps.

its very badly done on some ships, zooming out a very small amount removes the normal ship skin and it looks terrible
two examples are the ishtar, zoom out at all and it turns into a dull grey/green skin, and the vindicator, not as bad as the isthar but zoom out with this ship and it turns back into a normal megathron

Get a better graphics card. The LOD makes zero difference on mine so I turn it off. And heaps off games have LOD settings that are just as aggressive, it is just that you can notice it on the T2 ships because it defaults to using the T1 LOD model which are not the same colour as the T2. If CCP put in LOD models with the proper colours then you wouldnt notice it.

Actually, a lot of T2 ships have their own LOD textures - they're still one colour, they just use the "highlight" colour rather than the "Hull" colour. Retri turns into a red ship when you zoom out.
