I don't know where else to put this. I'm a semi-veteran (or scrub) of the game, but I don't know where it should go.
CCP DOESN'T MAKE IT OBVIOUS WHERE IT SHOULD GO. Is their even a tech support forum? It should be a little more obvious, if you wanna be a company that should be taken seriously by it's customers, thanks.
Sigh... And now, onto the actual question I have...
The launcher won't launch my game, which is what I figured it's supposed to do.
So... it's not doing that, I guess?
It's trying to verify, but it doesn't load the verification. It's firmly stuck at 0%. This has been going on since yesterday, and Devs haven't acknowledged it??? It can't just be my computer (I use windows XP home edition). |

So the launcher doesn't launch. Hence its a technical issue as it isn't launching.
Now if we take around 10 seconds to load the forum, scroll down and read the forum we can find a "Issues, Workarounds & Localization" area.
Next we can post or Issue (Namely the Launcher not Launching) In a polite, friendly manner rather than just bashing the keyboard because we have a low IQ and haven't got very good reading skills.
This will not only get a decent answer with regards to how you can fix the issue but also stop spamming up the Newbie Question Area with stupid things.

Also, if you look in the Eve install folder, there is an exe to start the game directly. %installfolder%/bin/eve.exe My twitch stream to help new players:

And we can avoid smarmy responses.
Why the hell is it at the bottom of the forum? CCP still sucks for this, sorry. I'm gonna bash CCP all I freaking like, because it's my right, thanks for being their policeman though.

Doesn't the game need to update through the launcher though? |

EDIT: As I figured, the update process is now preventing me from starting my game through the exe.
Take a deep breath and smoke a doobie...run the repair tool then go to the EVE folder, find the bin file and use the .exe in there. It should by-pass the launcher....yes it does suck big donkey balls.

I can't help but think that all these people that run into errors with the launcher AND the repair tool have something in common...
Could they all be XP users maybe? Only thing I can see sticking out.
And since this guys is running an older OS I think it'd be a good idea to point out this: http://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/new-system-requirements-for-eve/
But tbh we can certainly bash you back all we like. It's not that everyone here is a CCP fanboy that had to defend them for every weird decision they make. In this case we were simply calling you out on having missed it and having the seemingly childish need to blame it on someone's "bad design".
I dunno about you, but neary every game forum I visited in my time on the internet tended to have their technical support section at the bottom as well, unless they were in active beta or they had some stability issues. It's not like it's going to be the primary topic of discussion or anything. Actual gameplay topics are :D
And just to prove my point here's the world of tanks forums that also have their support section at the bottom, right above the international section. http://forum.worldoftanks.com/
Oh and btw the official support section to the devs is in the top right menu labeled "EVE Universe". The Drake is a Lie |

Everyone says that, so it's cool.

It should be the most important topic of discussion though. Gameplay topics are frivolous and 'childish' (to use your words), by comparison. |

step 1 - don't panic step 2 - take deep breath, relax step 3 - rethink attitude step 4 - ensure all eve-related open windows are closed and any running eve-related processes ended step 5 - run repair tool in your eve file step 6 - repeat steps 1-3 as needed

None of that **** worked. Good day.

Except that you're totally doing that right now. Good devs need to speak for themselves - or at least have a charismatic representative speak for them.

The forum section you're looking for is Issues, Workarounds & Localization. I would move it, however...
Quote:3. Ranting is prohibited.
A rant is a post that is often filled with angry and counterproductive comments. A free exchange of ideas is essential to building a strong sense of community and is helpful in development of the game and community. Rants are disruptive, and incite flaming and trolling. Please post your thoughts in a concise and clear manner while avoiding going off on rambling tangents.
22. Post constructively.
Negative feedback can be very useful to further improve EVE Online provided that it is presented in a civil and factual manner. All users are encouraged to honestly express their feelings regarding EVE Online and how it can be improved. Posts that are non-constructive, insulting or in breach of the rules will be deleted regardless of how valid the ideas behind them may be. Users are also reminded that posting with a lack of content also constitutes non-constructive posting.
Since a large part of the thread is composed of stuff that breaks the rules above, the thread is locked instead. Feel free to start a new constructive thread in the appropriate forum.
Additionally, if you would like to reach out to CCP about this problem, please file a ticket under the Technical Issues, Installation & Patching section.
