I agree with your contention that e-bay sales involve more than macro-mining; if only for the reason that it has taken CCP so long to address the problem. There is some complexity which is forestalling the simple solutions. I only trust that the game will not be compromised.

Originally by: Kira Natel I've been reading the various posts and witch hunting going on lately. I'm against farming and macroing but it got me thinking to look at Ebay.
A quick scan shows roughly 30-50 BILLION up for sale at this particular time. That's a lot of isk. One seller had 5 Billion in 1 chunk for sale. Further looking shows
Sellers:
US 10 China 8 Canada 4 Romania 2 Australia 1 Estonia 1 France 1 Sweden 1 Uk 4 Netherlands 2 Germany 2 Spain 1 Latvia 1 Russia 1 Iceland 1 ( A low level DEV possibly? )
Its a lot of isk, some of it from macroer's but I wonder if it also comes from unscupulous players with deep pockets who stay quiet in the background or become vocal in the forums demanding action against macroers.
Or maybe its a fat corps CEO or directors skimming the corp accounts. Not like its never been done in RL is it?
Another thought- Maybe that macroer you tried talking to who doesn't understand english very well and types chinese lives in London, New York or anywhere else but China and can't order a chinese fortune cookie in chinese, or maybe he does live in China.
Point being- never take anything at face value especially in this game or on the internet in general. I could type in a bunch of phrases in various languages and most would assume I'm from that country
Una cerveza, por favor
Food for thought
Ni Hao
I would just like to point out that the numbers of people from each country that sell on E-bay are slighty misleading. Firstly as a UK player i can set up an account for another country purely because nothing is physically delivered. Also the Pound and the dollar are very strong currencies and are used in alot of Eastern countries as a popular substitute for the countries main currency. Therefore its highly likley people in other countries are selling isk for pounds and dollars Which isn't their main currancy.
Yes i would say many eastern players make up most of the isk selling population and as CCP admit from their decision, to possible allow this to be done on the serenity server when it opens, this is a part of their game playing culture.
My opinion is that CCP's reason for protecting their intillectual property will become slightly shaded if they allow it on serenity. Also the increase in time card code selling for isk ( indirect isk selling ) has suddenly increased which CCP have turned a blind eye to because at the end of the day they get the real money. The way i read the EULA is that the the trading/selling of isk for out of game money/items/services is not allowed. This is contridicted by the current time card policy. Time cards are related to the game but are not something which exists within the game.
just me 2 cents

That's ~40 sellers. Let's say they have in average 5 clients running each. That means that constantly 200 players online are doing 24/7 mining ops. But that's just a few of the sellers.
There must be more selling channels, some are using more ships to mine etc. Say, 500 "players" constantly online just farming. 24/7.

@Avon : lmao at that joke :)
I dont know how much cash changes hands in a day, but every transaction is logged. If 1 guy gives out 100M ISK several times a day, to players who are not affiliated with him or his corp, that should trigger an alarm somewhere.

Hopefully the alarm could be disabled for the Eve-Radio DJs, then. I can see Stora being banned as an isk seller, for her habit of giving away bilions. bless her. :)

SIMPLE
Stop trial accounts from mining i.e. cant fit mining lasers etc (I know involves some code), then you can ban real accounts that use macro mining...
Just an idea..
It's a Dog eat Dog World out there and I'm wearing Milky Bone underwear

Somehow, just a hunch, I dont think this will work. You know, a lot of the macroers running around in covetors, have been playing for everything between 2-11 months. And, well, then they arent using trial-accounts, now are they?

Dont you think that it is scary that ASCN have $18600 worth of outpost's floating round their space. if you convert it from isk to $ at the current exchange rate
Just a thought.

And also if CCP really wanted to ***** down on ebay i am sure they would. But the fact - Free Advertising. Also shows how close of a world CCP have created to the real world. Market trading on ebay to me is a good thing although i have never bought isk or anything off it I dont see the problem with it myself.

I will say this again. I will keep saying this as many times as it is required until people understand. That's because they are most likely not using macros. They are living mostly in places where you can really hire someone to play the game for 1 dollar/day or something like that.
A little chinese kid is a powerful way to "macro" without triggering any "macro alerts". It's also cheap and though it plays kinda bad it does the job. And they don't react to you because what could they do? They can't understand a word of what you would be yelling anyways.

>< Guess what that is, it's me playing the smallest violin in the world for you. Just quit the game if you're leaving, and stop being such a troll. You've given your reasons, we all know, alot of people don't care.
Is this last bit of attention that important to you?

Yeah I got a better one.
A blonde is driving down the road when she see another blonde in the middle of a wheat field in a row boat and with a fishing rod, casting and reeling it back in.
The first blonde yells out to the other blonde and says "What are you doing?"
And the other says "Fishing, whats it look like I'm doing you stupid blonde!"
The blonde by the side of the road starts fumming and pacing back and forth.
She then yells, "You know its blondes like you that give blondes like me a bad name! And if I knew how to swim I'd kick your ass!"

I think your a moron and don't realize that Skills and actual individual skill control more than what you have in your pocket. Eve is just as forgiving as you -- i.e. not much. The depth of your analysis intrigues me -- did you come up with that before or after picking your nose?
