my brother just lost his second naga to lvl 2 missions. this is insane. lvl 2 missions shouldnt kill tier 3 battlecruisers. human cattle mission 5 of 5 shouldnt have a support frigate with a warp disruptor in the final room. it says to warp out immediately and thats exactly what he does only to get webbed and scrammed. he doesnt have a remote chance at that point. if i was in his shoes i probably would quit the game at this point. u work hard to save up for a naga and lose it in a lvl 2 mission with bad instructions then work up to get another only to get scrammed and lose another. lvl 2 missions. are u kidding me? |

Attack battlecruisers, with their thin tanks and their heavy guns, are at a serious disadvantage in Level 2 missions, which are geared for simple cruisers. Mission boats need to be able to take out frigates; scrambling frigates are a routine worry at all levels of missions, which is why any mission boat with heavier guns is advised to have drones to take down the scram frigs.
The Naga's really not a good fit for missions of any weight; it doesn't have the Talos's drone bay, its tank is weak, and it depends on opening up the range, which you can't always do in a mission.
If your brother is geared towards gunships, he might try using a Moa, or maybe a Ferox; if he's got missile skills, he'd be well advised to use a Caracal, or if he can fly one, a Drake. If he really wants to be cautious, before the 3rd pocket, warp out and switch to a shuttle or rookie ship. Even if it locks and blows him up, mission complete and NPCs don't pod.
With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

Big guns (BS Guns) don't shoot little things well. They don't track well enough to hits any frigs close by. Don't be fooled by the big dps numbers. You need to take into account tracking, traversal, orbital velocity, etc T3 BC as mentioned really don't have proper tanks. With good pilot skills (manual Piloting) and gunnery skills it can be done, but until you get the mechanics right you going to battle.

this made my day, XD. as some people say, your brother should use a combat or normal attack battle BC or a simple cruiser for that. i prefer the battlecruiser in that matter, better tank, its like doing lvl 1s in a destroyer. |

Most has been said already. My five cents are just that: 1. Never ever expect "instructions" to be 100% correct. All instructions you find on the internet has been put there by players who gathered it through observation and reconstruction. As such they have a margin of error. If you loose things because of this nobody is going to pity or reimburse you. It is still your own fault.
2. If this happened once, for the love of god why do it again? I mean, if I see something not working why should I do the exact same thing again and then wonder why I get the same result?
3. Everybody above said this already. The Naga is bad for Level 2s. Even for Level 3s unless you know exactly how to do it. Any other Caldari BC or even Combat Cruiser will propably outperform it on any skill level. The large guns are made for shooting large targets of which you wont find any in Level 2 missions. Anything smaller will not recieve full damage due to tracking and signature issues. Save yourself the time and money and get in a Moa or Ferox (assuming you have no missile skills, with those you could go for Caracal or Drake just as well).
PS: Human Cattle This states the mission is complete upon warping into the last pocket. Since this is a level 2 it is not designed for BCs and while you will propably warp out fast enough in a cruiser or have a chance of killing the scrambler in time a BC will have problems with both and die in a ball of fire. |

I jumped into a level 3 the yesterday in my harbinger and immediatley got warp disrupted by a frigate. The damn thing was orbiting me close and i couldnt hit him for ****.
Unfortunately i'd also forgot to bring drones with me and i got a little scared, mostly that i was facing a very emabarasing loss.
but
i just activated my mwd and burned away from the rat. The npc apparently use warp disruptors not scrams. once i gained a bit of distance on him he was instapopped by my 600 something dps :)
anyway my point is doesnt your bro have a mwd or at least an ab on his fit? if he gets scrammed simply burn away from the rat in any bloody direction (preferably away from other rats) until u have enough distance to blap em.
hope this helps |

Tell him to run a caracal in L2s, better tank then a naga and better applied dps to frigs. Lowering the average to make you look better since 2012. |

Wrong ship for the job. Lvl 2 mission are best ran in cruiser than battlecruiser. A caracal with rapid light missile launcher for example since he's trained for caldari. |

Or even better a Navy Caracal its roughly the same price as a naga but will butcher lvl1 & 2 missions in no time. I use one all the time when i want to grind up fast a new corperation i want to mission run for. |

The smart thing to do would be to tell your brother to get 3rd Naga and try the exact same thing a third time. You know what they say 3rd time is the charm. |

Bigger is better? Then use a Charon for lvl2 missions.
Even in the tutorial there is a mission where you loose your ship, no matter what ship it is. So why shouldn't you loose a ship in lvl2 missions?
Anyway, if I really had to fly a naga in a lvl2 I would try something with a decent chance of hitting frigs, maybe like this: (and don`t fire all guns at a single frig)
[Naga, New Setup 1] Tracking Enhancer II Tracking Enhancer II Tracking Enhancer II
Stasis Webifier I Stasis Webifier I Adaptive Invulnerability Field II Adaptive Invulnerability Field II Large Shield Extender II 10MN Afterburner II

And to be able to GTFO fast beeing a good thing seems to be the idea behind that mission. So smaller is usually better in such a case.

You just need to full officer fit the naga, once you have the full officer fit you can't die.
I'm guessing you and your brother played a lot of wow, and just like in wow eve is all about getting the biggest and best items, once you have them you will be popular and girls will throw their panties at you. Officer items are the epix of eve, you can recognize them by the purple icon in the top left corner. This is what you need on the naga to be able to run level 2 missions, purple items in all slots.
Of course you can also just try and ship down to something with small or medium guns, maybe a couple of drones... you something that is actually designed to kill cruiser down. I'm a relatively respectable citizen. Multiple felon perhaps, but certainly not dangerous. |

General rule of thumb on missions: L1 = Frigate/Destroyer L2 = Destroyer/Cruiser L3 = Battlecruiser (medium gun fit, not large) L4 = Battleship L5 = "bring friends"/carrier
The reasons for the smaller ships in L1's and 2's is simple: You face mass frigates and a few cruisers.
Flying a battlecruiser with large guns against frigates and cruisers? ... Not a good idea. They don't hit smaller targets that well and if I really wanted to prove the point, I could go dig up a bunch of destroyer/frigate killmails on Battleships from killboards.
That may be PvP but the same situation exists for PvE. Large weapons against smaller targets are not a good idea. Use small or medium weapons systems and things go much better.
PS: With enough SP, you can get around that rule of thumb gig - it's a general "rule of thumb" and not hard. I've used an AF in L4 Angels Extravaganza before just to prove I could do it in the past but I wouldn't recommend doing this kind of long lulz stunt to most pilots. |
