Edited by: Jamius on 29/11/2005 13:25:00 I have only been pirating for a few months but so far I have to say no. I have fought a few great players but I don't think they were specifically anti pirate.
The obvious anti pirates I have fought have blobbed me and done it very badly too with little or no chance of catching me out or using clever tactics to do so.
I have also always said to such blobs that I will fight each and every one of them 1 at a time (without jamming) but not once have any of them risen to the challenge.
Not that they should trust me nor I trust them but please. A respected anti-pirate would show up to fight me alone, scope out the surrounding area and if they are in a ship that I am willing to fight then I'll fight them. And that means any ship apart from probably a scorpion (and even then I've taken a few of them out though generally I avoid them like the plague). I'll even take the same class of ship out to fight them if I have one so it's a fair fight.
But Eve is a very cloak and dagger game I suppose so it will be very rare to get such a fight.
It's happened once to me where a guy in the same BS as me floats around belts where I am, obviously wanting a fight. I engage and what follows is the best fight I have ever had. I win but with 10% structure left. He then came back again the next day, same ship type and we fight again. I hate to say I jammed him though (it wasn't a pre-arranged fight with any rules)as I knew he would have modified his setup, knowing more about mine - oh the shame . I won easily taking very little damage but it was totally un-satisfying and no-where near as good fun as our previous battle when I could so easily have lost.
So slightly off topic - scrap jamming - it ruins a good ol fight
Anti-pirates - act like the person above did and you will gain respect (though hopefully avoid the dying part ;). I maybe won that encounter but have massive respect for the guy and would fear fighting him again - your supposed to be bringers of justice, striking fear into pirates through your power and gaining respect through your values - your not meant to act worse than us in many respects

But more importantly,
Why is there a need to create a survey/poll on who hates who the most every single week??
hmm, maybe thats spelled weak....

Oh, please. People, myself included, mine all the time in lowsec. I've never, ever been killed by a pirate.
Why? I'll tell you why - because any lowsec miner worth their salt will:
1) Choose an empty system 2) Detach local chat and pop it by your cargo can window, so you're always looking at it while you mine 3) Align for warp 4) Instawarp to station if anyone you don't know comes in local 5) Wait for them to get bored and leave (takes 2-5 minutes normally) 6) Depending on mood, maybe scout them in a shuttle, and instawarp back to refit for PvP as soon you know what they're flying... hello, racial jammers

In your experience who has been:
1) The most consistently anti-pirate over a long period of time:
Corp: Celestial Apocalypse, PIE, Imperial Dreams, Amarria Auxillia Alliance: IRON / G and CVA
2) The most successful - in terms of causing you difficulties in sustaining pirating operations:
Alliance: IRON / G in the north, Pureblind, Deklein and Fade.
3) The most respected - in terms of people that actually worry you when you see them enter local:
No One Worries Me, Fortunatley.
4) Who would you would most like to turn to the dark side and start pirating along side you:
Individual: Siobhan [PIE] Alliance : A lot of the members of CVA, there are some KICK ASS pvpers in there, and they're a great bunch of guys.
5) Your most hated/disliked anti-pirate foe (please do not give reasons) that you would love to pod repeatedly:
Alliance: The Whole of IRON and G, even though really, they're a top bunch of guys and gals.

CVA
2) The most successful - in terms of causing you difficulties in sustaining pirating operations:
Overall, probably PIE as they used to send lots of ships to get rid of us.
Auctoritan Syndicate... they'll always fight, and are the most effective anti-pirates according to our killboard.
3) The most respected - in terms of people that actually worry you when you see them enter local:
Siobhan... can't resist having a go against her uber BS setups.
4) Who would you would most like to turn to the dark side and start pirating along side you:
Solusar, Sidyous and Reash from Auctoritan Syndicate... they're excellent pilots and can tell they're tempted to turn evil
5) Your most hated/disliked anti-pirate foe (please do not give reasons) that you would love to pod repeatedly:

Originally by: Heinky But most effective and feared where prolly celestial apocolypse, simply because every noob they came accross they just called him pirate or pirate alt/scout and killed him. So they killed alot of "pirates"
To my recollection Celest have killed quite a few BE, back when they were considered to be pirates. Furthermore, you don't seem to know Celest, or make an honest post, coz those who do, know they dont shoot neutrals, nor anyone not considered to be pirates in any way, save when wars were going on, but those were mostly considered pirates anyway. _______________________________________

Cult Of Cthulhu, Nemesis and Celes would generally worry me if I see them in my local.
Other pirates tend to make me more worried then most of the anti-pirates

I'm honored, and we are evil, just not in the "im evil, yarr" sense, more the "We're going to kill you because your a minmatar and not a slave" type of evil

I have been playing for over 2 years now and it is always the same some pirate complains about superior tactical forces (blobs)that come after them after getting their kicks out of ganking some hauler or miner. then they go smacking on the forums when the carebears stand up for themselves... Now getting back to the topic on hand i would have to say the anti pirate I have most respect for is the person who goes out and at least tries to fight the good fight.

How about the real pirate oldtimers step forward in here?
The truth, smack pwns smack. All blob in the same way all just sit 151km from a gate in a 7WCS fitted tempest aligned with the sun and warp if more than a shuttle comes through the gate.
Tempest has 6 low
And about pirates.. well, Waywatcher really scared me when I saw him in local .. he was the first one to pod me AND kill my first battleship ( about 1.5 year back ).
The best pirating group would be the teddybears but thats just because they always give me a good fight when I really want it.

Celest definitely used to be the best anti-pirates. Haven't seen much of them lately though. In the last year or so the only antipirates that stand out in my mind are:
1) PIE (and CVA, but mainly PIE) 2) CoC 3) Whatever corp Marko Debrault was/is in. I'm not even sure if he was anti-pirate or just hired to kill us, but whenever he entered local somebody usually got ganked.
That being said, I still haven't seen any of the anti-pirates do anything that makes me think they are really spectacular PvP'ers. When I see some of the stuff my own corp does, I usually sit there and think how easy it would be to destroy us if anybody had some guts. So I guess the people listed above are the few people in eve I've seen that consistently have the guts to engage, and that's usually all it takes. Lots of people blob, but we can usually see the blobs coming. Its the small groups of decent PvP'ers that usually get the jumps on Pirate organizations. The blobbers just blob.

Yet to meet an individual anti-pirate because they only operate in large blobs, because they can't handle a fair fight. |

PIE used to keep us at bay in Amarr space, but I've not seen them for months.
No there's just the odd one or two that try to stop us. Every now and then you get a big blob jump into local, but when the number of people in local triples within a matter of seconds, it's not surprise what's going to happen. By the time they've come out of warp, you've already warped to your safespot. And then the smack-talk starts.
It's amazing how many interceptors and battleships is needed to take out just on battleship...

yep 3 inteceptors can kill a BS easily. if the bs is not setup to take on interceptors there is nothing the bs can do but wait until his ship blows up and try to get his pod out

In TWL we dont consider our selves has anti-pirates but we have made a good job securing the Arifsdald Area from Pirates ... we had some raids over there but things became very peacefull after some weeks... in the meanwhile we leaved the arifsdald/krirald/ansen systems so it must be hell down there again
