Yes, because that wouldn't get the leak fired AT ALL.
I am willing to bet it is the same leak that sent us fearless and the Hilmar email.
Anyways, that being said some of what he says is true. For a lot of the developers it really isn't their fault. They were just doing their job as best they were able. The fault lies with Hilmar and the upper management who set policy. He is trying to correct this for now. I mean cmon, these guys have lost a lot of friends in the lay offs and morale has to be lower than Helicity's sec status. I wouldn't read too much into the statements. It sounds like typical morale building after having been slapped in the face a few dozen times with the reality bat.
In closing, lulz, you people actually took an unsub troll by an alt seriously. |

Reason why CCP cannot (honestly) give a simple yes/no (non wriggly) answer to the "game-impacting microtransactions" question is:
A) we already have game-impacting microtransactions - they are called PLEX
B) DUST 514 will be integrated (in some voodoo way) with sov wars in Eve and is MT for advantage from the ground up.
Hence they never gave a straight answer.
Of course one might rephrase the question to include the words "In the NeX store" but even then its ambiguous - in a single server player led economy like eve literally everything impacts the game. A well dressed avatar might well be better at scamming people in Jita - a custom ship skin can be used to effectively bait and attract damage to the maximum tank. Corp logos will give an advantage to brand recognition / recruiting etc etc.
The whole thing is bogus.
At this point their best play is to publicly end the NeX store, add those clothes in it to the character designer as a way of saying "sorry" to the player base. Give some isk back to the idiots that bought this stuff.
When DUST 514 impacts then use a MT currency that is obviously about hiring mercs (think Battletech universe C-bills) and keep it focused on merc payments.
Ensure eve stuff is provided within the subs model (including clothes, ship skins, logos etc) and breathe a sigh of relief that they still have a company after the appalling mismanagement of the last 2 years.

Product design from a creative sense is only part of the battle.. certainly the CORE element in success but not the only necessary element
to break themselve from a world view they probably gained as players and programmers they really should be reading more about how Retailers (like clothing or hardware stores or super markets) respond to what they learn from customers.
Its a complicated subject that isn't reduced down to a few sound bites... there is a daily free news site called "retailwire" http://www.retailwire.com/
that sends emails and links to a discussion site if you sign up with your email... forces me to at least see the headlines and look in some days.
The perspective programmers could get by stretching their minds that way might be very useful... not all ideas will cross industries but some will and ligthbulbs will go on. |

Well. when you ask somebody and use words NOTHING or NEVER how can you wait exact answer? You don't know REAL LIVE do you? Or in your REAL LIFE you never get any occasions, crashes or anything you can't predict?
One of answers was "We don't plan this until industry will change ...". I think this is enough. Because CCP CANNOT ignore industry trends and follow once given promises. This is business. This is simple.

FACT, CCP management over-extended the company, basically (as was said in the OP article) gambling with the careers of it's own employees. Those employees are out of a job, where as the people who made the actual mistakes (the management), hasn't changed. If I were some kind of Stake Holder of CCP. I'd be looking for some good, old fashioned George Bush style Regime change at the top (lol).
It cool that they are buying us off with Cake throwing new FiS stuff at us now, but they should have never been in this position to begin with. Sound, cautious, humble management from a company we are paying subscriptions too should not be too much to ask for I would think. |

Sound yes, but cautious and humble management in the gaming industry is rarely a formula for success in the gaming industry. Creating EVE in the first place was a huge gamble and a bold move.
