If you want to open a bar - hire me, that's where my skills lie (I do have a comp sci/soft eng degree, but tbh, I hate programming)
I can make a mean martini tho... ----------------------

Originally by: Caiman The main software used by the CCP graphics department is Photoshop CS2 and Maya 7.0, although we have been exploring ZBrush on the side for some time. <snip> ...Since it is my belief that it's easier to train an artist to use new tools than it is to train a tools-veteran to make art.
A person who has a solid traditional art background but also has experience in realtime 3d would be our primary candidate.
damn! an art director who is more concerned for artistic standard and integrity, over package skills? that's something I've not seen every day. Looks like I'm going to have to make an application now.
the page is a bit vague, so would you prefer... CD-Rom, DVD-Rom, VHS, Email attachments, Webpage links, or a full traditional media portfolio with digital media enclosed?

Hi, I wonder if you could provide us which more details on the forums/website pls. I have a computer science degree and just completed a master in intelligent systems. What kind of background do you need for content development hopefully general AI/optmisation stuff.

What would CCP's stance be on placement positions? For my uni course I have a work placement year coming up and doing it in CCP would be a dream come true.
Anywho sent in an app to see what happens (sacrifices a turkey for luck).

Nostradamu5's poor formatting has confused me
In any case, since CCP is in Iceland, wouldnt the appropriate joke be what they call it in Iceland?

Why? You dissing my MCDBA?!
No but can you imagine what life must be like for the guy... with a billion different things that can screw the DB over each day. From POSes to buggy code that makes stations disappear with one shot and people copying thousands of bms and generally doing stupid things that make it a mess :P
You forget one thing tho... he who holds the DB has the power ;)
oops an extra zero in the wallet, an extra t2 bpo in the hangar or increase the veld respawn rate ;)))) (altho I doubt one would be employed long by changing the wrong values)
Careful, SengH. You should know that MCDBAs suffer from major inferiority complexes since they are not Oracle or DB2 DBAs. If you ever meet a MCDBA in person then just smile, don't make any sudden moves, and slowly walk away. Or they may take out their frustration about 'Administrating' such a crappy database on you.
Heh heh, just kidding.

Edited by: Red Horseman on 15/12/2005 17:45:26 I don't suppose you're looking at summer internships?
Working for CCP would be great, so would moving to Iceland, but I still have 3 semesters to go on my interactive digital media degree.
Just wondering if you would consider such a short-term position.
Besides, I just finished a class in MSSQL if you need a second-string database admin. Edit: I got an A in it too.

It's already pretty enough, dammit!

Hmm would really like to work for ccp but i'm only in my first year of Network Infrastructure Design and i don't think ccp's needs more guys managing and developping there network cause IBM does that for them. I'd would love to know what there running and in what configuration but that's a companey secret i guess.

LOL! So true!
Oracle 4TW!
NOTE: Actually I'm suprised that the guys at CCP managed to keep EVE working on MSQL. That DB has to be getting quite big right now. Kudos for that!

For those artist-types that don't know how to use Photoshop yet, I'm going to quote Bryce Cochrane from EA Sports; in the book I'm holding at least 10 people said the same thing
Originally by: Bryce Cochrane
When I look at someone's portfolio, I'm most impressed with an artist who has drawing and painting skills - not just Photoshop touch-ups and 3D model tweaks. I feel I can teach any talented artist how to use a piece of software in just a couple of days, but it would take me years to train him or her to be an artist.
Quote is from the book Game Design: Secrets of the Sages, a collection of interviews compiled by Marc Saltzman, and published in 2000. ---
