The 'old' Caldari titan model is here. But considering they've made a completely knew Minnie titan and a revamped Amarr titan, I think we can expect to see new models.

Edited by: Dreck Morrison on 30/11/2005 17:13:02 Edited by: Dreck Morrison on 30/11/2005 17:11:11 I guess I better get on that captial ship construction V skill.

Actually the little carrier is an "affordable" ship that should be available to most corps. Anyone who has 7 Apocs could have one of these instead.
And now I am actually torn between buying a Titan or 200! 90-day game cards. |

Jimjim and I are talking about the actual screenshots of the Caldari Titan we have seen, not the icon.

Now THAT is stupid. 3.6 minute recharge on a device that rapes anything within 5km? Yeah right. 60 hours for a ******* Doomsday Device is good.
But you can't even use the base Carriers in 0.4 and up? LAME. Carriers should be usable in Empire, sure not motherships or titans, but FFS, if you invest in a Carrier, you should be able to use it as a command ship in a corp war in Empire. -------------------------------------------------------- Lance Corporal BSC Military

As seen at the FanFest and demonstrated on SiSi by TomB, the range is a hell of a lot more then 5km.
But damn nice ships :D

60 hours may be excessive but 3.6 minutes are not enough for a freaking device dealing 50k damage :s Let's pretend it's for testing purposes and will be changed.

So I take it the carrier and the mothership are basically Large and Small versions of the same thing?
Originally by: darth solo iv been flying a Ragnorok for a few weeks now.. ill be trading it back in, it handles like a bus with flat tyres.
My roommate has a game called The Getaway. You can actually drive a bus with flat tires. Actually, it's a London doubledecker bus, so it has flat tyres instead. It's really quite hilarious because you have to hijack it at gunpoint, and then you can mow down the police with it. It's great for smashing through roadblocks. Cops, spike strips, and roadblocks are generally responsible for said flat tyres.

Totally agree.
They should at least allow the smaller Carriers in to high sec space!

I'll agree to that as well. They're smaller than dreads so not impossible to kill. _______________

I've been looking at the stats on the test server for these myself as well.
What I found interesting is that the components required to build a carrier are very similar to a freighter, which does not require Capital Jump Drive to build it.
Does this mean that Carriers will be able to use the gate system like other ships?

They themselves cannot shoot or destroy poor newbs, so since they rely on drones, and they'll get podded pretty fast by the sentries if used at a gate against a non-war target....

I think that'll be a projected area of effect. So you aim at a target and the effect is like a ship inside that target letting off a 50k dmg smartbomb.

My spreadsheet shows an estimated cost of 57,956,362,075.80 ISK for the Gallente Titan at today's prices.
That's before any research on the new components of course. Also - someone forgot to add the Capital Clone Vat BPO to the test server.
Whatever. I look forward to fitting mining lasers on a Titan and posting screen shots here.

Small Carrier costs, based on current mineral/component prices would be:
Archon 738 Million Isk
Chimera 695 Million Isk
Nidhoggur 733 Million Isk
Thanatos 818 Million Isk
The investment to build one of the above Carriers would be around 10 Billion Isk in component BPO's plus whatever the actual Carrier BPO costs (probably around another 2 Billion).
IMHO you would probably see them selling for around the same price as Dreads initially as people try to recoup their investment. Eventually, I'd say they sell for around 1.5 Bil each.

Outposts can be destroyed. It just takes a huge fleet about 8-10 hours to kill it. Check the video section for a vid of one getting popped. ------------------------------------

Not destroyable....only conquerable.
Once it becomes a station, it is permanent (at least under the current mechanics). It functions exactly the same way as the original Conquerable stations have for the past year or more in terms of ownership and attacking it. You have to make the own lose system sovreignty before you can take its shields down. Once you can take the shields down you can capture it and make it yours but you can not destroy it.

the old caldari titan looks awesome to me, they should just spruce that model up with some love instead of making the abomination that they currently have going
IT DOESNT LOOK CALDARI AT ALL
im sorry but picture a raven next to that thing, it just doesnt feel right to me..
i think the phoenix is an amazingly DULL design too, what happend to the unique and original ship designs? the other races look okay (esp amarr), but man, the caldari ones are looking rather boooorrriiinnnnggg.. ------ If Captain James T. I'm not a fan of the ferox or phoenix, the phoenix could look so much better, the ferox.. i dunno its very.. grey? i mean, completely solo grey and boring... the phoenix had potential, but it looks lame to me.. the lil ravenesque "head" on it looks too pointy and kind of retarded to me..
the cormorant, looks good, very good.. i wish they'd update the skins a bit in EVE though, i mean so many caldari ships look **** brown, others grey, gah..
anyways, uhm, old titan? that doesnt look like the old minmatar titan to me.

Who they meant to be flown by then?

"anyways, uhm, old titan? that doesnt look like the old minmatar titan to me."
Well, you got me confused now ^^;
the ship in one of pictures Seleene posted is old model of Minmatar titan, "minmatar drifter colony" or something like that.
the model for caldari titan from the same older time was linked by elFarto, it's still in the game files but dunno if it'll be used.
the picture i linked to is of a new model added recently, which has name (and size) that implies it's new model for caldari titan. Guess we'll see ^^;

After checking the database, it is indeed 216,000 seconds to reactivate it. 3,600 minutes or 60 hours.
