The Red Moon of War is on the rise. Massive capital ships release their deadly cargos and death follows in their wake. Unless you have tested these ships, their abilities remain a mystery. It is a mystery no longer.
TomB has released a new Dev Blog. Contained in the Blog is an overview of the capabilities these new capital ships possess.
It is said Death rides a pale horse. I think the pale horse has been replaced.

Yes, clearly Binky would never stand for such nonsense as being replaced!

I can just imagine a Force Recon opening up a Cynosural field in the middle of an enemy fleet and a Titan activating its Doomsday Device right on top of them __________________ Retard's handbook |

Hahaha
At over 1+ billion Trit for the required components I think there's still plenty of time for WHEN

Edited by: Idara on 30/11/2005 21:43:29 I'm running like a broken record here, I want carriers in Empire. They'd be such a nice refreshing sight in the battlefields of Empire Wars that are constantly and only Battleships and the same ships that have been around since launch. Sure there are T2 variants, but there have been no new models or designs available for empire wars since launch, not counting faction ships.
Pwease let carriers be used in Empire. I'll be so sad if they're 0.0 only, because I prolly won't ever see one. -------------------------------------------------------- Lance Corporal BSC Military

Hmm, so, if there's a Titan in-system, and you have a cynosural field activated in the same system, the Titan can target the field and fire the doomsday device at it? Nice. And Bringing along your support ships is nice too. This will change the way fleets move through low-sec and empire. You only need one cov-ops ship, with a cynosural field, and then that ship can bring your entire fleet in. For a cost. Should be interesting.
Motherships look nice too, capable of deploying not only ships, but pilots for them too. How big a hangar are you talking about for ships though?

I just shed tears of happyness
the fact that carriers and motherships can field drones several AU's away from their original position is something that will change combat in EVE forever.
as much change as the doomsday devices imho. -------------------

Well done. I actually guffawed, and I wasn't aware I knew how.
Can I just say that my Dominix suddenly feels a lot smaller. To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield. |

Fighters can deploy/be assigned to other gang mates and warp to battles within the same system. That is scary, and sooo cool.

Carriers not being able to use gates really sucks... kinda had us all under the impression they would : ( but it all sounds cool nonetheless.

A lot of people are asking if the smaller carriers can be used in higher sec systems or are they going to be restricted to low sec and 0.0 like Dreads? -

As they are capital ships needing to use their jump drive, probably < 0.4 only.

With these titans and motherships being somewhat like stations, will they also be able to 'anchor' themselves in a player claimed (sovereign) starsystem, making them invincible like outposts are as long as the sovereignity claim holds? Would make them usefull for a corporation or alliance even when the players who can fly them (and that won't be a whole lot) aren't around.

When you get down to the fine print and realize that so much of the player base is excluded from this content kinda makes you wonder what the big fuss is all about.
Pretty pathetic that CCP has excluded empire players like this.
"Thanks for your subscription money, but you don't get to play with any of the new content."

I suggest that the goal is to cause players to leave empire...
