Rather than posting these hokey workarounds, are you able to provide a log of what's going wrong in the Launcher, so that I can attempt to fix the underlying issue? Product Owner, EVE Launcher | Team Special Circumstances |

For those of you with low download speeds can you please answer me these questions: Do you have a proxy configured somewhere? Do you have any specific network setups like wi-fi, 3G or UMTS? Do you use any 3rd party software for download acceleration / anti-virus / firewall / malware detection? Are you running any other disk and network I/O related things in the background (f.e. torrent downloads)? How many download threads do you have specified in the launcher settings? Manually downloading the latest launcher installer fixed the issue.
Next small patch, if it happens again, I'll grab the log file and paste it here.
Please do. And just to make sure: You are not starting the launcher from an icon that was pinned to the taskbar, are you? Senior Programmer Team Special Circumstances Friend of Walking Avatars |

Enthropic wrote:Hi CCP, I also have a question.
The launcher, well enough has been said about it, but for TQ it works. However, when I click on my SiSi shortcut, it loads the new launcher, as in the new new launcher that comes with SiSi.
There are no buttons, and it points to TQ, not Sisi, I cant find a field where to log on, or press launch at all. From some forum feedback, I guess this is because I run Win8.
Is there a fix for the test server launcher in the works, or do win8 users fire up the sisi client via the exe file in the bin directory?
Have you checked that the shortcut is set up correctly? Senior Programmer Team Special Circumstances Friend of Walking Avatars |

First launchers's versions don't have this issue !!!
That message is actually coming from the proxy where it seems to have trouble resolving the domain name for client.eveonline.com. Senior Programmer Team Special Circumstances Friend of Walking Avatars |

In case you have set this up yourself, check if the SSL port (443) is also handled correctly by your proxy. Senior Programmer Team Special Circumstances Friend of Walking Avatars |

Thanks for replay. This proxy serves a lot of other traffic and other connections over ssl(443) don't have such trouble, early don't have this trouble EVE launcher, this issue being after regular launcher's update.
Can you provide a log file for the launcher via pastebin or a support ticket? The logs should be located in [path to eve folder]\launcher\cache and are called launcher.2013.10.27.log or something like that. Senior Programmer Team Special Circumstances Friend of Walking Avatars |

Just took a look at it, and according to that log file then the SSL connection via port 443 is failing. This is most likely because either the proxy or a firewall does not allow requests from the launcher on that port. Please double check your configuration, and take note that just because it works in a browser does not mean it works in the launcher, as firewalls can be configured to only allow certain applications access to specific resources . (-: Hi. I long time had no opportunity, to continue diagnostics. Yes, i too see in this logs, failed SSL connection to https://client.eveonline.com/patches/win_launcherinfoTQ_inc.txt, but this file i can open in browser. At the same time, i see in proxy, how launcher try get URL www.none.com:80. And I trust that more that I see on proxy. PS: And I don't understand that to you disturbs, it is simple to make opportunity to download patches separately and to import them through a launcher even if he has no successful connection. update: Launcher try open address 87.237.39.166(client.eveonline.com):443 irrespective of settings proxy in Browser, why ?? I see it when I look, what connections he tries to open from system where it is started.
The launcher should be picking up your system's proxy settings (e.g. the ones you specify in your control panel / in IE) without a problem. Which browser are you using? The None URL is because it could not get the info file so it does not know which places to connect to. Senior Programmer Team Special Circumstances Friend of Walking Avatars |

Right, I've done some deeper digging, and there is indeed a problem with the network module we are using and proxy-tunneled HTTPS connections. Oops. Looking into this, but this might take a moment to get fixed... Senior Programmer Team Special Circumstances Friend of Walking Avatars |
