We've just posted a brand new interview with Clover of CCP on the matter of EVE's current and future events as well as how they apply to both the players and the storyline.

"Aside from the purely monetary rewards there will also be all kinds of ego-boosting rewards, such as medals, prizes and stuff that has no real value on the market, but singles the recipient out as a special player. " CCP needs to figure out how to implement the equivalent of "glowy weapons" in DAoC.
For those that don't know what I'm talking about: Many NPC dropped weapons had "effects" associated with them - Staves with a glowing ball at the tip, swords and staves that glowed all along their length, an ice staff that had little arcs of lightning jumping all over it, etc. In some cases, such glowy items would sell for obscene amounts of money not because they had "uber stats" but because they looked cool.
One example of this: There is a weapon called the Sceptre of Intellect. It is relatively low-level (obtained from Lv14ish mobs, Lv50 is the max in DAoC, it's basically a n00b weapon). The thing is, it's a mace that is somehow marked as equippable by casters. It's the ONLY weapon in the game like this, and it's drop rate is extremely low. (Something like 1 in 1000 kills or less.) As a result of its rarity and uniqueness, people have sold it for as much as 2 platinum (More than most Lv50 items go for) even though it's useful as a decoration and nothing else.
I'm not sure how you'd implement the equivalent of "glowy weapons" in EVE though. ---------------- Blue Screen of Death CEO Exodus Enterprises |

Drifting of topic....
Seriously, lets be able to spend isk on, for example, changing our names. (Add Cmdr. Adm. etc. to your public name.

Quote: Clover: You will see changes in system ownership - stations can disappear (be destroyed) and new ones pop in, access to certain areas will become restricted depending on faction standing and race/bloodline. In essence, the freedom of movement you're now experiencing will become more restrictive and players will have to make tough choices about who to follow. As for the latter part of the question, we never insist on players doing anything in order for the story to advance - most events have multiple outcomes depending on the participation or what the players did.
If all your stuff was in a station that was destroyed, would you loose it?
