Edited by: nooooby on 01/12/2005 15:54:00 I have tried to make this post as nuetral as possible, and may update it if pertinent facts surface and it seems useful, not just a flame-thread. ASCN and G both have different versions of why G invaded Feythabolis. ASCN says that it was a cowardly move since G were set to positive standing and had travel rights and G says they did so as a pre-emptive strike. It does not matter since it is done. What matters is what has occurred since then. G had a station they took (rather quickly) from SA that was only 2 jumps from a core ASCN system, AZN-D2. This station was heavily stocked and supplied for the invasion, and aptly named "Spearhead". However, apart from the initial invasion and a totally lagged out fleet battle (both sides admit it was impossible to tell who would have won with the multi-minute lag), G has not seemed to make any progress. G claims they are winning, as they are killing many more ships, ASCN says they are winning because they have not lost any space. For weeks the stalemate has continued, almost exclusively in the AZN system. Then yesterday, G made an interesting move. Contrary to all of their claims of military dominance, and being a PvP alliance, they used the controvertial POS-rush tactic. In an impressive display of logistics, G deployed 35 small POS in AZN. ASCN proceeded to drop the POS into reinforced mode and a large fleet battle ensued. Two ISD reporters were on hand to witness and verify the conflict. From my interviews on the scene both agreed it was the first fleet battle with minimum lag. It was a hard-fought battle and raged for over an hour with fairly even numbers. At the end of the battle ASCN held the field and collected loot. Supposedly, at least 35 G Battleships were destroyed, ASCN losses unknown (can someone from these alliances verify?). But the very interesting thing is that ASCN then continued dropping POS into reinforced mode, and if you look at the map you will see that in AZN, ASCN is the sovereign. So, you decide, did G win or lose? You may make speculation about the war and progress (or lack therof) to date, but please do not bring up topics which are already heavily covered in other threads.

I was there for the whole thing and must admit it was a good fight. Props to Femme Extrema, the uber-jamming scorp pilot. Props to the G guys who stayed up late to fight for their zergPOS. First truly enjoyable fleet battle in awhile because we were actually allowed to fight each other and not the lag. I do not know the numbers.

Edited by: Risiru on 01/12/2005 16:02:15 Well not commenting on your "facts" let's just say they are funky :). Seems like some ASCN (sorry Gob that I assume it's an ASCN alt) still don't get the strategie involved. Well thats awesome and probably leads to more fun for us :) I can only comment for myself but I don't regret a little bit that I only got 3 and ahalf hours sleep last night and I sure my mates fell the same way (and I know at least some ASCN think it was awesome last night too). I already envy them for tonight because I won't be able to make it. PS: I have 10 gb of fraps so expect a movie but it will take a while.

I haven't looked at the numbers and I probably won't as I don't really care, but the 4 dread thing is pretty hysterical. All in all, was a fun night and I really think that's what is most important. I think a few on both sides tend to lose site on that from time to time but it can only be expected. I only wish I could be at home right now and not here, being a forum ****, at work. Netto

"LOL, what the heck does that mean??" Sorry, 'tis just when i read "fleet battle and there was hardly any lag", got this mental image of PvPers from all over EVE and every possible alliance rushing to the said system, so they can finally experience the same thing... ^^; (and obviously lagging the heck out of it in the end, but that's another story...

/me wonders whos alt it is this time... anyway, nice fight with very little lag (atleast for me), unfortunately someone in the [G] fleet decided to make me primary after like 5-10mins, so I cannot say I had that much fun I was able to get 6 hours sleep tho instead of staying longer for fight/POS pounding. Will there be more "RABBLE" in local tonight?

Edited by: Fitz Chivalry on 01/12/2005 16:19:14 I couldnt believe it, the first time in months I decide to use a BS rather than a ceptor, cruiser or AF and I spend about 1.5 hours getting from 68ft to AZN, spent another 1.5 hours in AZN waiting for something to happen, spent an hour shooting a POS, sat at the TRO gate wiating for G to engage, didnt look like it was going to happen so finally gave up about 00.30am and left, get back to 68ft and dock and it all kicks off. I hope we did use the Dreads in the fleet battle that would be cool - I would much rather have a dread on my deathmail than the usual collection of ceptors or frigates that is all you ever seem to get these days. Anyways, I look forward to shooting more of you later and please dont target me as my insurance has expired. With many thanks. Edit: The "rabble rabble" thing was to drown out all the pointless stuff that is always appearing in local from our guests like "lets log off half our fleet then you might engage us" that sort of thing - rather than reply in kind we thought we would just have a little fun with them. You will notice that we stopped rabbling and the G/IRON comments (I wouldnt go so far as to call it smack as it wasnt especially bad) stopped also so please present the whole picture mkay.

It was an excellent battle! Personally the best ever since my first fleet battle between KNONI and OC ( which I liked slightly more because it was my first time ) the thing was that lag was acceptable perhaps 2-3 seconds? There where huge numbers of ships over a 100 and heres the thing: both sides kept resupplying. So the reality was that the battle actually was about 1 hour. I only survived about 30 mins of it though ( I actually warped in and out about 6-8 times or so). Sweet fight though, hope to do it again tonite. Everyone was happy lots of 'gf!' in local.

Actually, I wonder if all the alt flames are there to hide something... Facts eh? Well, from what I can gather, the fleet battle were one of those, we gave as good as we got, sorta things, but as the lame alt said, we held the field. Also heard something about a 60+ fleet coming to reinforce G, but not really sure what happened with that. We put, I believe, 14 POS into reinforced mode last night, managed to destroy at least one. No current reports on what's goin on but I imagine G are starting to log in en masse, since it 7pm in Berlin. This is going to be one active weekend, me thinks. Which just sorta figures, considering the obscene amount of crap I have to do this weekend. bleh! Netto

It is sad that people jump to the conclusion that I represent one side or the other because of the title. Have we gone so far down the road of flaming that we cannot explore a topic and state our opinion, even if we are not in some mighty alliance? Although plenty of people had disparaging remarks or questioned my facts, no one offered any additional numbers. Yes, please lock this post, as no one seems to want to actually use their brain matter or their cajones to answer the question of "Who is winning?"

Essentially, the action was comprised of three distinct "engagements". Each Engagement involved reinforcements and changes to the battle order, lag got progressively worse as lootcans/drones started piling up. Many ships were destroyed, many were removed from battle with heavy structure damage. The final engagement reached a point where it was a small proportion (Less then a quarter) of the original forces invested slugging it out with each other and I am quite certain that had not the dreadnaughts been in the area to reinforce the battle would have proceeded until both sides were annihilated. It was a horrific battle with dramatic turns and manuevering, and I'm incredibelly happy that I participated (and performed modestly well) in it. Well played and well fought.*snip* That's not very appropriate. - Teblin

I've tried to be fair but I know we're the good guys just like you know you are the good guys. Try to respect that before you start flaming my post. ------------------------ I had a great time last night. I was there from the first killmail to the last and I agree that it was a three part engagement. The fight came very quickly, no waiting for one side or the other to engage while sitting two systems away. ASCN was shooting POSes and got to the gate 5 or 10 minutes before G managed to get there. Initially G warped/jumped in on us from two directions. The first engagement was the most violent but also the shortest (10 mins or so). Lots of explosions on both sides, lots of BSes going down. G warped off to regroup their two groups and rearm their pilots who lost ships (at POSes I assume). They jumped back on to the gate very quickly and the second engagement commenced. This was the longest phase of the fight (30 minutes or so). I think ASCN had more BS left by this point so we had the firepower advantage but G had several very good jamming pilots sitting outside of range. We sort of negated each other. Because this engagement lasted a long time the fleets got strung out. People started shooting the support if they could not target the primaries. This meant that most pilots were able to warp out and back in. Finally both fleets only had about 10-15 BS left at the gate and they were all 130km+ from each other so ASCN warped out. While G were posting GF in local (it seemed like they thought it was over ) we jumped back in on them closer to their fleet for the third engagement. (10 minutes fighting, 10 minutes poking at each other from 150km). By this time BSes were limited on both sides. G had several scorps making many ASCN ships useless. (I was consitently jammed for about 25 minutes in the second half of the fight, despite my warp outs and warp ins ) The support had continued to arrive for ASCN though and were scoring tackles. Our dreadnought pilots could not be restrained any longer either so they came in and helped where they could. I didn't think they had much of an effect except to absorb fire, only one dread pilot reported scoring a hit on a BS and it was a single hit. A G member above said that 4 dreads were on his deathmail though so perhaps thats a better indicator. ASCN held the gate at the end of the fight but there were lots of cans from both sides. Dunno anything about numbers. Both sides had a ton of fun, many of us felt it was the best fleet fight we'd been in for months. I call that a win _____________________ We are not a mining corp. Edited by: Seleene on 05/12/2005 08:34:26 G has moved at least six Dreads to C9N. ASCN has... "more" in their space. G is determined to make a point. ASCN is just as determined to make their own. At this point, I'd not place money on either side. It's truly one of the most interesting and intense campaigns ever seen in EVE. I will say this though: all this crap about them being desperate is just that: crap . It is actually beyond crap. It's lunacy. I hope the common ASCN member doesn't actually believe that G are 'desperate' or that their morale is low. If the ASCN leadership is feeding that to their members it's a mistake. I don't think there's an alliance that could kick [ASCN] out of their regions. Fact is, some might claim they haven't got a good pvp base, but that's a misconception. Yeah, they have a huge industrial side, and maybe they are not the best pvpers out there, but they certainly are not bad. And with their gigantic industrial might backing them, well, it's unrealistic. (\_/) (O.o) (> <) This is Bunny. Copy Bunny into your signature to help him on his way to world domination.

Right Now, I've not heard of any dread fighting in AZN. If there was, I'm sure it would be up on our Corp/Alliance forums, of which it is not. For those searching for the win/lose announcement. Your not going to see it yet. It's been said in other threads & I believe it to be a reasonable reply. Each side has their objectives, of which the defenders is obvious, the attackers not so clear. When [G]/IRON/./././. believe they have won, they may post their objectives, deatil how they achieved them & sun themselves in the glory. When ASCN have won, they shall report a) The Enemy is now nolonger a threat B) whatever else they have as objectives. I dont think you'll see a winning side for some time, just people having fun & some not having fun, at different times. And for Me? Fun Fun Fun... I missed out on the Lag of E-PROS in the begining. But Thank server gods for AZN Last week. The Server was so well behave'd that I was able to Fly one character in a Raven & another in a Zealot with ease. Was a fantastic battle and loved trying to predict Interceptor flight plan's.. Those dreads are fantastic looking in battle, add a new dimention to the field. Although during AZN battle I only saw 1 Dread half way through. But then I wasn't paying to much attention to the exact content of our fleet, rather more interest in the enemy. See you in the next battle Fun Fun Fun, till ya daddy takes ya Dready away?
