I look forward to catching these videos. And I support your endeavor! Good on you.
Please take the following criticism in the intended spirit: to foster the excellence of your vid series. If this intro is an indicator of your verbal style, I suggest writing down your intended messages, and boiling it down to as few words and tangents as possible. Understanding the point of an intro, it nonetheless contains a lot of time spent talking about unnecessary information, even while allowing for context. If you can maximize the informational impact per time taken, the results could potentially be the eminent video tutorials on ISK in Eve.
Good luck! |

Dude I have to echo the above poster's comments. Frankly I think you shot yourself in the foot with that introduction video. I was expecting something useful, even if I might know it already. However, all I got was 4m 25s of waffle about what you intend to do. It wasn't a teaser, no offense, but it was the opposite - boring. What you need to do is produce something useful and use that as your introduction.
Interestingly I did learn something unexpected. I didn't realise you could right click on a gate icon on the overview and get a circular context menu up. I'm going to try that tonight. I've always clicked on a gate or other object and then gone to the selected items window. So thanks for that. |

Sounds like an interesting idea, hearing and learning about different angles on the game from people who have been around the block is always useful, especially if they're able to word it in a way that "sits well". I did it with salvage, trading, and a spreadsheet. I never made it out of lvl 3 missions. I've only purchased a single payment period of game time with $; the rest is ISK. To suggest Missioning or mining is the way to go is to handicap hapless newbies by handing out blinders. Don't fall for that trap. |

If all people would make money the way you do there would be no money in it. Better to let them mission and mine for it. Silence is the best way to protect your profit. Use that grey matter... Reopen the EVE gate so we can invade Serenity. Goons can go first. |

No need to hoarde information or wealth, you are fooling yourself to think you are protecting your investment in any way. This tactic might work in politics but not in EVE! Really great video with tons of useful tips and tricks; the importance of the quick bar and using the mouse wheel, all very useful.
I made an alt a while ago, gave it trading skills and standing and had a go but found that it's not necessarily passive as you have to monitor the prices the whole time. So to me it's a boring way to spend my time which I could use on my main character doing something more fun and profitable. Perhaps I'm doing it wrong.
Either way, really good video and I'd like to see more. The adventures of a newbie: http://kyraquinn.wordpress.com/ |

So to me it's a boring way to spend my time which I could use on my main character doing something more fun and profitable. This type of market strategy is certainly boring I agree, and I would label it "semi-passive" due to the optimal ratio of time spent adjusting orders to time spent doing something else. You will see massive diminishing returns if you adjust too frequently anyhow!
For that set of items I would seek optimal intervals of adjustment around 15 minutes each at a peak time zone, 20 or 25 if the market is slow. That should allow you enough time inbetween to do a mission, watch an episode of something on YouTube, etc, and that is where the semi-passive nature lies.
In the future we will come back to the market to look at some more advanced strategies, which will also become far more passive. Hope you stay tuned!

I watched the whole first video. I would say that much of what you covered would be second nature to even modestly experienced traders, but the info is of great benefit to newbies for sure. I look forward to seeing how this progresses and how you cover some of the advanced topics. |

Also, what is your opinion on commodities trading? Worthwhile?

Another great video, an idea could be to add some useful URLs on the subject covered. When I looked into PI I found a website that shows the whole schematics and production trees and adding stuff like that, either in the video itself or in the info, would be rather helpful and would ease people into it more.
In my case this video solidified my "oh god kill me now" stance on PI (which is why I didn't bother), not because of your narration but rather just the subject itself :P The adventures of a newbie: http://kyraquinn.wordpress.com/ |

There are only a few plays one can make at a mechanical level, so from there its just about being really clever with placement and routing, where strategy would take place in Civ.
Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for the feedback! the difference between civ and PI is that civ has depth. PI is just a clickfest; once you understand the system, there is barely any thinking involved.
as far as your video goes, you made a good effort to explain a bad system, so i guess it was good in the end.
