This guide assumes that
1. You are new to Eve online. 2. You're going at it solo. 3. You only have an hour, maybe less a day to play.
There are MANY options in eve for making ISK, and some are more profitable then others. We are going to focus on
1. Steady and predictable income. 2. Low maintenance , high return per hour.
The first thing to realize about Eve is that it is driven by a military economy. You don't have happy bubble guns that spray sunshine on others, the majority of items on the market are pvp oriented or made for aggression. This is a huge help to choose a career path that will make you the most ISK.
This means you will work for "security" agents.
Overall the best thing any new solo player can do from DAY 1 is to start training up for level 4 missions. This means getting your skills ready for a battleship. Forget everything else. Since I have experience with Caldari ships, my recommendation is to cross train for Raven and Scorpion. Then upgrade to the Navy versions, but these two ships that I mentioned are your primary goal.
As they are focused on cruise missiles this means your main focus will be training shields and missiles.
Ok now you immediately pick a corporation after you finish the tutorials (and collect free gear) that will help you improve standings with that corp. It really doesn't matter which corp you choose as long as the agent is a "security" agent. Do not use ANY of the other agent types. Stick with ONE NPC corporation and only run missions for that initial corporation to improve your standings fast.
I'm going to say that again because it is important:
>PICK ONE CORPORATION AND ALWAYS USE SECURITY AGENTS!!!!
1. Pick ONE NPC corp to run missions with. 2. Grind up to level 4's as fast as possible. 3. Use the rewards and bonuses from missions to buy gear, DO NOT SALVAGE!!!
You want to maximize your LP and mission running rate, so you can quickly get to level 4. By salvaging and looting you are delaying the process. Your primary focus is to get to level 4 missions, so run as many mission per hour as possible and ignore ALL other activities like looting and salvage unless you grab gear as you kill rats. DO NOT STICK AROUND LOOTING after completing a mission. As soon as that little green check box appears FLY BACK to station!!!!
4. Blitz missions if possible to get the LP bonuses as fast as you can. 5. Use the LP to get discounts on faction gear when you can afford to purchase. Faction gear will make you a more efficient killer, which means faster kills, which means more value of ISK/LP per hour. 6. Run all storyline missions which provide additional rewards and improve faction standing. (use eve survival "google it")
The reason Jita became a trade hub was originally due to multiple agents being in system, which meant you could run multiple missions quickly. Try to find a corporation which has multiple agents in system that will allow you to run max missions from same system.
Why missions are superior for solo players.
1. All ships that you destroy have a bounty reward that is collected as soon as you destroy one, even if the mission is not completed. This means you can tell exactly how much ISK you can make an hour just by blowing up ships.
2. Your security status and standings improve each mission you complete giving you a discount as you improve standings on gear you purchase. The better your standings are the less tax you pay for items. This is good!
3. Loyalty points, each time you complete a mission you receive loyalty points which allow you access to expensive gear at a discount. These can be traded for ISK or used to upgrade ships for a fraction of the cost then it would cost on market.
4. Every 16th mission you complete allows you access to storyline missions. These are important because they improve overall faction standing much faster then regular missions plus you can get plugin implants and other high rewards and grant you access to more security agents and more discounts on gear!
5. Each mission you complete has a reward PLUS bonus ISK amount on top of the bounties you collect, this bonus pretty much covers most of your ammunition costs and any leftover ISK is a bonus for rainy days.
bounties+mission reward + mission bonus reward + LP + storyline missions + discounted gear + less tax = a lot of ISK in your pocket! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ My recommendation for ship training progression (Caldari oriented again)
caracal (HM) / drake(HM) / scorpion(cruise) / raven(cruise) ignore everything else. Focus on missiles, forget all other weapons. Focus on shields. Get it trained and you will be running level 4 missions in about two months.
Train for HM and Cruise missiles from the very beginning, forget HAM and TORPS for now.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Do not train for salvage, or other activites that will slow down your progress and cost you ISK. Invest in a clear path that is PVP oriented and you will have no trouble making ISK.
This plan is based on a two month skill plan. This means you will have to pay for two months of eve online out of pocket until you can start earning enough ISK to purchase a plex. You dont need all level 5 skills, just enough to get you into the ships and use the modules that are effective enough. You will be slow at first but each mission you complete will help improve your ISK earning potential.
If you stick to this plan you can expand to additional branches, but your trunk and primary means of earning ISK will be trained FIRST before trying all the other stuff.
Ask questions, offer suggestions how to improve this guide. Thanks for reading!
and remember NEVER MINE! it's not free. Zydrine exists in highsec from the loot you collect from rats.

Well i pretty much have to agree with the guide..
As a new pilot that doesnt know all that much about guns, tracking optimals and kiting, missiles are a great choice as your range and transversal to target has no influence on damage.. Also being a shield ship makes it easier to tank (pasive drake) all that dps thats hitting you than straight away going into armor rep ships.. They also require certain core skills as cap etc to be fully efficient..
I would also like to add that my first ship that i went straight for was a TENGU for mission running and i can say i was so satisfied with it that i still use one today..

This is very much true, t1 versions of HM, cruise missiles cost you isk per shot say;
(Assuming price is around this)
Drake, 7 HM per launch = 525 per volley
Raven, 6 CM per launch = 1110 per volley
So, 21000 isk Per full 40 launches from Drake (grouping of course)
And 33300 isk per CM X 30 launches.
So before we go to deep, I've used CM up 2000 in some missions,
2000 X 1110 = 2,220,000 isk per 2000 units
2000 X 525 = 1,050,000 isk per 2000 units.
So yes if you want to maximize isk train for a drone boat or Amarr, but I have to disagree with OP regarding looting and salvaging, reason for this is you need to learn which rats serve the best luncheon and which rats to leave for the buzzards.
I can tell you now I quite often leave Guristas and drones NPC wrecks cause not even the salvage is really worth much. |

No, I meant PVP, and PVE training is a perfect crossover for pvp. The skills you invest in for mission running can be useful in pvp.
The better you are at generating ISK the more options you will have to invest in branches. But like I said you need a solid trunk before you begin to branch out. |

In the beginning lv 1, 2 and 3 salvage is not going to net much and the goal is to reach level 4 where salvage and loot can pay off as you kill rats. By turning over missions as fast as possible you can grind up to lv4 faster if you ignore all other distractions.
The goal is to run max missions per hour. Not make max ISK per hour, because isk cannot buy standings. |

Ammo cost shouldn't be a relevant factor when deciding what you want to fly for missions. Drones are too much hassle now, and losing just one T2 Hobgobin is probably equivalent to a rack of weapons full of T2 ammo.
It has also been proven that using faction ammo is actually worth the extra ISK, as in it will earn you more than the ISK you spend on it over t1 ammo. |

You also had to train additional skills to build the ammo taking time away from your missile and shield skills. By slavaging level 1 and 2 and 3 missions you slowed down your LP progress and access to better faction ammo at a discount.
Also if you were manufacturing with low skills in industry you were paying a higher tax then if you had actually bought the gear off market which would have been cheaper and faster to obtain if you factor in the effort needed to make it yourself.

Just to clarify,
my adice to new players not to salvage is BEFORE level 4 missions. The loot and gear is cheap crap and not worth picking up. If you happen to be close to a wreck while running the mission and killing other stuff, fine go ahead and loot it, but don't spend time looting or salvaging after you have killed the last rat or completed your mission objective.
Once you are running level 4 missions, the loot and salvage is a great way to gain additional isk.
Ideally you will one day fly in a golem and salvage while you kill stuff, but this will not happen overnight and you will need to invest in a BS ship before you ever set foot in a marauder. |

But at the same time leaving some choice salvage to goto waste.
Some of that salvage is well worth just salvaging and saving until you can built it yourself, since what I seen with large modules and their price tag (you know for battleships?) it can cost over 100 million itself. Tax is eliminated as soon as he gets 6.67 standing anyway. Only time when production gets to be too expensive is when mass producing (or making ships) when skills are needed. Three modules at a time, you're wasting very little even training production efficiency to 4, but save a mint.
The time needed to train in a ship to survive level 4 missions, means time a player can salvage enough to build his gear so he won't be broke when he finally gets his battleship.
A solo guide has to reflect that it's a player without a sugar daddy to support him (with skill books; ships; modules; weapons and ammo -- and faction ammo needs ammo to even buy). "In a world of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act." ~George Orwell
