As of right now, I hold in my hand an original boxxed copy of eve-online, still sealed.
I found it in a game store, in the bargin bin. The cost, about half of the mounthly subscription rate.
So the question is, what should I do with it? Should I keep it and treasure it as a keepsake. Or should I use the key to open up anouther account? I'm almost tempted to give the CD key to a friend so he can try eve, unrestricted for an entire mounth. Anythoughts or ideas?

Put your friend on the trial account. Keep the box sealed as an eve momento. I mean how many games have you played this long?

Keep it.
Stick it on ebay in a few years and see what happens.

Edited by: Commander Lock on 04/12/2005 21:49:43 Open it up and read the game manual, it's worth the price alone!

Keep it sealed, dont open it, dont touch it, hell...dont even look at it in the wrong way.
If you wanna give your friend a tryout of the game, send him a free trial via email, and burn the ZIP onto a CD for him to install later.
And as someone said earlier, sell it on ebay in a few years. You made a possibly wise investment.

Hmm, if you do that, maybe give him a trial + key so he gets 1+ month for free instead of "just" 1?

Hey, I bought my boxed copy of eve-online at frys electronics for the astonishingly low price of just $49.99 back in may or june of 2003. The game was so broken back then, missiles in empire were suicide, they collided with EVERYTHING and exploded on impact, getting you concordokken'd.

Edited by: Maestro Ulv on 05/12/2005 00:43:50 Nice one. I have two, one open and used the other still sealed.
Bought the second when I came back to eve and couldnt find the original or be bothered to DL it, got back and within 5 minutes of walking in the door saw the old one! Hence other being sealed still.
Guys above is right about the manual, its cool to see how out of date it is :)

Hmm. You know, thinking about it. It would be cool if someone could host the old game. I mean way back in the day when missiles were suicide, and frigs held cruise.
It was such a differant game back then that it would be an expericance to be able to log on and play for a little bit.
