I've been looking for someone who I can borrow isk from so I can afford a shiny faction cruiser, but I don't know if anyone does loans or if the TOS even allows it.

Try in-game channel TRF.
If you default, your kneecaps will be broken. ---

Just went there but they're not currently doing loans/investments.

they really should add a contract feature that would enable banking/credit stuff

Reminds me of Moe the Bartender on "The Simpsons".
"Homer, I can lend you the money. But, your credit is so bad I'm going to have to pre-break your legs."
Solo playing is a valid play style. Or at least CCP thinks the money they get is valid. |

I'm affraid you'll find it very hard to get a loan from anyone. The only thing people have to enforce getting paid back is threatening to hunt you down and kill you repeatedly over and over again if you don't repay it. However, there are so many 'bad' people in Eve, that this simply isn't a threat. If you just let people wrong you and then hunt them down afterwards, you'll have 40,000 people you are hunting down, and you simply cannot play enough to do any reasonable amount of damage to 40,000 different players.
Your best bet will be to try to get a loan from your corp, but 150m is a lot, you'll need some sort of collateral.

The closest thing you'll find to a loan in Eve (other than between friends) is margin trading.
And a faction cruiser is not the most essential thing. ---------------------------- T2 Destroyers: a proposal Requested Changes: An alphabet's worth |

I'd imagine that the alt system makes handing out loans pretty much a bad idea all around.

Why not make main chars responsible for alt's debts? :-)
Buttom line, if you can't pay back, your main char will be auctioned off!
If your char is worth less than what you owe, then what you paid for EVE subscription will be converted into a time card and sold for isk!
that's so brutal, I love it

Hmm, if you are in a player corp. and you work as a member of the team, most corp's will give you a loan... or even help you buy the darn ship
