Please help me decide what ship will be better for exploring the data and relic sites.
i was reading allot of posts on the internet and most of them are old, so thats why im here to not make a mistake and skill for the wrong ship.
I was asking in the help and other ingame chats and most of the time people say. Pick what you like the most. Thats not enough for me. I like the look of the Cheatah far more buts that all...
I was looking to the atributes of all 4 exploration covops and picked the Helios and Cheatah out. Im not an expert, but from what i know ( i dont know much ), the 2 are the best.
What is more importand the +1 mid slot of the Helios, or the 51 m/s more speed and and the biger cargohold of the Cheatah.
I know in the +1 slot i can put a Scan rangefinding Array, but with time i will skill up so that will not so importand.
Can i catch more loot with the higher speed Cheetah ?
Ty for reading this, i hope this will help more new players :) |

I don't know much about the Helios but I fly a cheetah and I'm very happy with it.
I've tried to fit it using its main strengths : speed and agility.
So in my low slots I have 2 Local Hull Conversion Nanofiber Structure I. The only time I lost my cheetah was when I came upon a gate camp and one of the ship used a smart bomb.
I hope that helps |

Question you need to ask yourself is: do you need that extra high slot?
Since they removed salvaging from exploration sites the only thing you would need a salvager for would be to salvage some juicy tech 2 wrecks left at gates or something.
Other thing to put in the high is a cyno, but since you're out exploring I doubt you'll need one of those.

IMO, Cheetah is perfectly fine. Really nice with three nanos to make it pretty difficult to catch. |

if you land on cam prepared to catch covops (declaoking rubbles, bubbles, instalock ships) agility of cheetah wont help. I would say that helios is supperior for exploration (due to allmighty midslot and more CPU) but if you can already fly cheetah there is surely something more usefull to do with your skill time than crosstraining helios. |

Every covops is good enough, but out of those two I'd take the helios for pure exploration. You don't need the extra high, the extra mid is very useful for various things and the extra capacitor means it's easier to permarun things. As I said though they're all good enough and if you plan to use them for things besides exploration, the demands of those extra activities should determine which to go for. |

This. I'd take the Helios given the choice. The slow layout gives you enough leeway to fit everything you need plus a token tank to carry you through smartbombs -- or at least give you a chance.
Too bad I permanently swore off flying them after the model change. |

Choose the Helios. It has a near perfect slot layout for post-Odyssey exploration and enough powergrid to fit a mwd without the need for micro aux powercore
If you wish to fit a mwd on a Cheetah, then you will need to sacrifice a low slot or rig slot to boost your the powergrid.

Will a salvage drone work on a T2 wreck? |

unlikely, I think maxed skill salvage drone has 10% bonus to access difficulty and I think t2 wrecks have a negative modifier. |

Up to medium, yes. 13% chance at max skills, -10% modifier, 3% chance per cycle, estimated 67 seconds to salvage (with a full flight of salvage drones or about 5.5 minutes with a single drone). T2 frigates have a 0% modifier and 15.4 seconds to salvage (on average with a full flight of salvage drones or a minute 17 seconds with a single drone). |

I personally think the Helios is the best ship, if you only do exploration.
The Cheetah can not fit a mwd without extra power grind, and has a mid slot less then the Helios.
2 hi / 5 mid / 3 low, means you can fit cloak and probe launcher in the high slots, and mwd, relic/data/cargo analyzer and a probe upgrade in the mids, and you can fit mwd without having to use a low on power grind.
That said, the next mid slot is nice to have but with decent probe skills you can live without it, and using a low on extra power is not a huge deal. I'm a relatively respectable citizen. Multiple felon perhaps, but certainly not dangerous. |

Helios is by far the superior choice. It has the extra mid so you can fit a Warp Disruptor, enough CPU and available low for a DCU2, and a single T2 Hobgobbie still does excellent damage against other squishy Cov Ops and T1 Exploration frigs. Keep in mind that a T1 Explore frig with a lick of sense will pummel the crap out of you with 3 drones, but fortunately most explorers just do the fetal curl when you throw a point on them, so even though they could easily drive you off you'll still get the kill. |
