And you can...that's the beauty of this game, it's so open-ended to suit any play style. You can rake in big cash by joining a mining op crew, or take it easy doing your own missions. The trick is to find someone else with your style of gaming and team up with them. Teaming is often more fun imo.

Originally by: Ilia Farstar I know there is no goal within the game. That's why I tried to formulate my own goal. My thinking goes along these lines: Mining seem awfully dull (at least alone). Hauling even worse (at least alone). Missions are kinda fun, but get's dull after doing loads of them (at least alone). I'm not too much into PvP. This is why I want to do whatever storydriven content there is.
What the advice in this thread tells me is that as a noob all I can do is support someone else doing missions. I firmly believe that anything you do gets a lot more fun with nice company but it would be nice if there was something in it for me as well.
Well, im a noob too. You can do whatever you want, cant stress that enough. The game is very free-form which means its basically up to you to plot your own 'story'. When you made your character, did you think about what sort of person they would be? Use that as your guide; are they sociable? Agressive? Helpful? Look at your skills and attributes and see where your strengths lie.

Originally by: Vladimir Ilych this game only gets really good in a friendly corp.
That's the key, if you have had bad experiences of gangs treating you as a mining slave etc, don't let that put you off the whole game. There are other, more positive experiences to have. Use the forums, the chat channels, make some friendly contacts and get out there and have fun.

I signed up yesterday and got straight onto rookie help chat. That's a good starting point if you want to find a pickup team, just post on there that you're looking for a team and who knows, you might find some friends on there.
