I've been trying to make a spreadsheet to help me with various aspects of eve relating to cap use. The cap recharge rate is causing me some problems though. Every formula I come up with though doesn't seem to be right, when I put it next to the data I've got in game. Anyone got a fairly simple forumla I can use? ---------- "EvE isn't a game, it's a lifestyle" Jaegerknack, 5punkorp

Edited by: Azuriel Talloth on 06/12/2005 14:48:34 I think that I read if you divide your total cap by the recharge time, then multiply it by 2.5 (or 2.4, I forget), it gives you your peak cap recharge rate, which peaks when your cap is around 30%. ________________

Edited by: Hehulk on 06/12/2005 14:52:20 I thought that was shields?
and also, if my cap recharge rate isn't acurate, then neither will the amount of cap per second be. ---------- "EvE isn't a game, it's a lifestyle" Jaegerknack, 5punkorp

quess no correct formulas at all. 1. Capasitor/capasitor rec time = capa per second
but it`s not quiet correct, because on 40-60% capasitor is more survival (ask friends on mining apoc, their usage is over 66/per sec, Recharge 30-40/per sec still their capa is holding "survival" position)
u can calculate ur usage per sec and ur recharge per sec and compare this two digits. But better put all u need and cap recharge devices, undock, swich ON all u want to run non-stop and watch ur capasitor about 5 mins. if over 80% all time - remove 1 recharge device if 60-45% u can remove 1 more and wach again if 40% if`s perfect! if drops below 30% - it wont be non-stop, capa run out anyway, it`s just matter of time. DO NOT FORGET your guns also need capasitor!

Total cap/recharge time*2.4 is generally accepted as "Peak" recharge, which occurs around 30ish percent.

What Mr Faf said is correct.
(Total Cap/Cap Recharge)*2.4 = Recharge At Peak
'Peak' occurs between 30-50% cap roughly.

yes, but hwo do you calculate the cap recharge. I know it says in game, but I was the maths behind it.....

so i calculated... (5400/149)*2.4= 86,9 and?) what digit 86.9 tells me?

The amount of cap you gain per second at peak recharge. If you can keep the total usage of cap below that value you will never run out of cap.

That's the only real thing that's stumping me.
You mean the number for "RECHARGE TIME" under the CAPACITOR section in your ships info?
Anyway, as you know there is a skill, "Energy Systems Operations" which give 5%/lvl to capacitor recharge bonus.
Right now I fly omen, which has a standard cap recharge rate of 357sec. With my current setup, I get 270sec.
I only have 1 cap recharger module equiped with gives me 15.75% to cap recharge bonus.
One would thing the math would be like this:
357sec * (1 - (10% from skill) - (15.75% from module)) = = 375 * (1 - 0.1 - 0.1575) = 265sec
Hmm, something not right. Lets try this: First take into the account my skills, then the module. Which will make more sense.
[357sec * (1 - (10% from skill))] * (15.75% from module) = = [375 * (1 - 0.1)] * (1 - 0.1575) = = 321 * (1 - 0.1575) = = 270
I pluged in other values and it works.
Therefore, it would seems your skills are taken into account first. And module modify already modified number.
Why? Well, you can probably fit a lot of cap recharge modules on a ship, and get a bonus close to 100%. Therefore, you do not want to go over 100% if you add skills to it.
Hope this helps.

The amount of cap you gain per second at peak recharge. If you can keep the total usage of cap below that value you will never run out of cap.
unless you have modules that drain a lot of cap at once (i.e. microwarp drives) as they can push it under the peak recharge point
