I know this has been posted before but I am having trouble on level 3 kill missions (internal security) with my geddon. I dont have the best of skills but decent enough to fly a geddon. Basically in all of my missions with a few cruisers hitting me...my tank just dies because my cap eventually runs out. I also have massive problems with frigs and anything too close for my guns. It makes me a little nervous about doing the tough missions where I can get scrambled...I dont want to lose my geddon to a mission worth less than 1mil isk...Any suggestions you guys could make to my setup would be great. Please keep in mind that I only have 3.25mil SP so most of the T2 stuff I cannot use nor do I have a huge bankroll for T2 mods (only have about 15mil at the moment).
Setup: 6x Mega Pulse I's (Radio and Multi), 1x Limited Neutron Blaster (Iridium) 3x Eutetic Cap Recharger I's 2x Large Armor Rep I's, 3x Hardeners (Mission specific) and 3x Cap Power Relay I's 4x Hammerhead I drones
Please help a noob :) Thanks

Try using med guns instead.. A. less cap per shot, better tracking, and better chances to hit frigs and cruisers..

why not use a assault frig or a cruiser? L3 isnt hard enough to warrant the need for a BS

Because he's bored? :S Why buy the ship if not you use it?
Go with the medium pulses.. the mega's are for BS combat not firgate/cruisers.s

dual heavy pulse lasers cap rechargers 1 large rep, 3-4hardners, rest cap relays
8 heavy drones
basicly works for anny l3 mission, if you can't hit stuff then just tank it and use the drones :)

Med guns and a web. When the frigs get in close, wait till they drop their MWD and then web them.. makes them easy prey for your cruiser size guns.

I'd go with 6 heavy beam lasers, 2 large smartbombs 3 cap chargers 2 large reps, 3 hardeners, 3 relays
full bay of heavy drones.
Swap a relay for a charger and you have what I fit on my apoc for level 3 missions. I use kinetic, thermal and explosive hardeners, and dont need to change setup for each mission.

Get yourslef a Chelm Large smartbobmb or two... Toshe really kill all frigs that wanna scramble you.
The rest is easy. Train drones. more drones and then some. get tech ii drones.

When people are using t1 guns on a bs for level 3 missions dont you think its a safe assumption they DO NOT have a couple of billion lieing around for top of the range officer smartbombs?

Ok, I have an answere for you.
Step1. Sell Geddon. Step2. Buy Prophecy. Step3. Insure Prophecy. Step4. Buy a bunch of exspensive named heavy beams with extra money. Step5. put 5 hammerhead medium drones in your drone bay(if you don't have drones level 4 you should not be doing level 3 missions. train it as it only takes a day) Step6. make sure you have BC level at level 3 at the very least. Step7. Train skills for a tech level 2 medium armor repairer as it is the mod thatwill save your life. Step8. PM me in game for a rock-your-socks-off level 3 missions for noobs pwning setup. Step9. Kill all level 3 missions with ease but make sure you are aligned to warp for the harder mission such as "black market hub" and the evil "Spy Stash" Step10. Once you can do level 3 missions easily train for TL2 medium guns or a HAC so that you can do level 3 missions very easily Step11. Last but not least have a nice day

This is what I use when I decide to do lvl3's in my 'geddon while reading or watching TV.
I'd say 90% of the missions are against Guristas.
Highs: 6x 720mm Gallium Arty (nuke and titanium sabot ammo), Medium NOS, Quad light maser (radio and gamma crystals) Mids: 10mn AB II, Target painter II, Webby Lows: 1600mm armor plate, active kinetic hardener, passive kinetic x2 and thermal hardeners x2, large armor repairer II, medium armor repairer II
I'm Amarr and Minmitar trained, so I already had the gunnery skills for medium projectile turrets. There will be people out there that don't like this setup, but level 3's are pretty simple in it. The whole reason for my going with the arty in lieu of lasers is to save the cap for tanking. With Nuke M ammoand the target painter up, I can hit things out to about 57km or so. For encounter missions or those deadspace ones where I know I'mm be warping in close, I'll switch to the Titanum sabot for the extra kinetic damage against the Guristas.
I was using this setup at a similar amount of SP to yourself, and had no problems.

Would it be better if I grabbed my ferox to do these missions? I used that throughout all of my level 2 missions with no problems. 5x 250 Prototypes with 2 malkuth assaults was my setup. I've been a litle scared to risk my BC in a mission where I'm having trouble with a BS. Would it just be easier to grab the BC? Thanks for your help!

Amarr BS, Caldari BC, 3.25M SP...
You might want to stick with one race for a while. The ferox could easily end up dead in some of the L3 missions. Safest advice is to stick with level 2 until your skills are somewhat better. A BC with decent skills should be able to take on any L3.

Here's my apoc setup, but it should work for geddon as well.
high: 6 megabeam, 2 heavy nosferatu(you can fit 7 beams if you prefer) med: AB, Tracking Computer, Webifier, cap recharger(you can drop the cap recharger) low: Large Armor Repair II, 2~3 hardeners depending on mission, rest cap relays, I put on a tracking enhancer sometimes.
fire at maximum range, and try keep the distance, only a handful kinds of drones you won't hit, they'll have to be taken out by your drones + web, or fit 1~2 med pulse to help out with the drones. Even if you find some smaller ships hard to kill, most other rats die before they can reach you, you'll find yourself rarely put on the armor repair. ------------------------------------------- "Death is just the beginning..." |

not sure if you can run 2 reppers on a geddon, with mega pulses on there, wont you be tight for cap?

Your main problem is that you are trying to run 2 large reppers on a geddon. 1 does the job just fine on a level 3 mission with proper hardeners. If your skills are not up to where that is true, tack on a medium rather than another large.
But better is replacing that large repper with another CPR for more cap.
And the Geddon needs its drones if you're using megapulse. Either train to make better use of your drone bay, or you're going to have to use faster tracking guns to kill the small stuff, even with a webber.
Considering that I run most 3s in a geddon with most of the low slots in nanofiber (but T2 for my reppper) and I rarely need a warpout, a lot of this is probably that your skills are not up. Of course, with all that nanofiber I fly it a lot more like a cruiser that kills things faster rather than letting everything get close to me at once :).
