the can has to belong to you to use it....
a rat can doesnt 'belong' to u as u have killed someone to get it, well thats wat i think the dev blog said, i could be wrong.

No rat cans do belong to you - thats what the tractor beam is for, collecting them!

On Sisi, NPC loot cans are flagged with the identity of the one that destroyed said NPC. You can then tractor it, but unless there's skills to improve that, the 500m/s max velocity and limited range can make even mission runners hesitate about fiting it.

Maybe not on a combat ship but sure would be nice on a looting hauler.

Item Lookup reveals Graviton Physics lvl 1 (Science 5/Engineering 5) as the only required skill. Haven't been able to log on to Sisi to doublecheck and of course it might be subject to change

We increased the sig radius on cargo containers so you should lock them faster now. I can't see any immediate problems with increasing the sig radius more if indys still lock them to slowly. I'll check in the morning. _______________ |

As much as I love the tractor beam; I think it's kinda lame that ships don't just 'get them'.
Atm as a mission runner looting the mission is quite often more painful than anything else.
In a tempest running a level 4 encounter solo with sensor boosters and the jazz for snipe setup.. I warp in at 100km .. Snipe off the encounter..
Then have to travel about 130km at 160m/s to find a couple of small shield boosters; and some non named gallante junk :(
I think looting should be the fun part not the tedious part; and having to compromise yer offence/defense just to beable to loot something at 20km's is kinda missing the point. A definate let down for myself.

Btw. Would be nice of you to also increase the number of locked targets for indys.

It's too bad this only works on cargo. First thing I thought of was slowly beaming a pod in towards your ship, towards your active smartbomb of terror! It'd be like something out of a horror movie, or a shark/croc/squid/platypus attack movie. Bahahaha!

Why can it not be used on cans that don't belong to you?
I think it's an artificial limitation that goes against the nature of eve, and as such should be removed, especially now that can flagging is implemented. Or is there something I'm missing here?

Just make it an action that will flag you and let the owner of the can decide if what he wants to do. Free for all FTW! _ ____ _______ _________________________________________________________

Can we increase the range on this thing please? Or have a skill that does so? Because 20 km isn't really that far... =/

i am not sure if this has been alrdy considered, but would it be possible to jet a can of your own, and then just drag it around forever and keep dumping ore in it?
my brother plays a crane. it is so fast it bounces off loot cans, and thus has to kind of rubberband back towards the can after the bounce. i find it helpful to bunch the cans with my retribution. the problem is my frigate has no cargo. eventually i have to jet a can, and then travel back to it once my dinky cargo fills up. it isnt a problem really, but it would be sweet to just pull a jetted loot can around constantly with my non bouncy retribution, bunch all the cans, and then just have a hauler pick it up heh.

If it can pull GSCs, then I think these will become popular modules indeed

I think it would be good to allow the beam to move "any" can too.
Just think of all the macro miners you could mess up, no need for a big indy, now a condor can break a 30 man mining opt.
Oh and what if two different beams "grab" the same can, I see EVE football in the making...
or tug-of-war!

Nice tool, but 20km aren¦t enough. It would help a slow indy in fetching a few contis, but it¦s useless for looting mission-contis, which are dispersed over 100km.

Perhaps they can make small, medium, and large versions? Double the fitting/range for medium, then double it again for large?
