I am really trying to get on in this game, I promise. just yesterday signed up for a few months.
last 2 times ive gone into the help channel and feel ive been ill treated. let me explain...
1st time -went in, asked a question politely (always try to) which I thought, answer would be obvious, received a skewed answer, unrelated to the question. think i asked it again but modified, a different way(not sure) but then I made it unmistakeably obvious and got back nonfigurable pigeon English sentence.
2nd time -have just been in. asked a question, straight after I asked, like 3 or 4 immediate following questions/statements so waited and after a while especially noting when a follower question was answered, asked it again in a gapped time, bit shorter but still polite. same again ,no answer so tried again.
perhaps it is a one off and people don't actually receive immediate answers as I am finding. perhaps ive just been unlucky wrt this. perhaps its more than being unlucky.
perhaps I am on a separately running server and I am being setup and someone is copying what I do but doing it nastily...I have no idea why this is happening but am open to suggestions and answers. so my question is 'WITHOUT silly answers which people think huh, whats that mean?' , have I upset someone from first coming into eveonline (from steam). I mean I was podded without reason, not so long in aswell. I have always tried to be friendly and assist. I have tried helping people in the help section with what little I know but as I type people always jump out the answer (another reason I think answers seem to be quick). the only problem I have had which started this was the 'api' thing which worries me because of whats happened to me away from eve.
sorry guys ,if the separately running server and the api incident which came after the podding not the answer then all that is left is for one of you to say I am imagining it (untrue) as I left reasonable amount of time with message in helproom and accounted for following questions by others and has happened on 2 consecutive occassions. if someone is spreading muddy water about me, don't you think I should know. this last sentence is obviously for eve management. if someone has said test by doing this, don't you realise how things can be skewed if the guy being tested doesn't know?? I tried by being part of the community but encountered the api scenario but on receiving an offer by a corp with more than 30 members (which i am looking for to make friends) was put off by a guy who said we use team chat so I asked some questions then a little about the members and then its we don't use tc that much....
enough said, hopefully receive a nice answer. willing to explain actions, etc but think I have actually in this. if there's more, more than happy to....obviously id prefer to as if I cannot answer to what I don't know, where's the sense in that....(and sorry guys but eves not just a game, people shouldn't view games as just games. they are a form of relaxation. never underestimate the value so that leaves why.......?????????) The EVE rookie help channel is the most active, accurate and applicable new player chat channel I have EVER seen in an MMO and I've played almost every one in existence.
Questions are answered in seconds, and 90% of the time with accurate information. 9% of the time a few sarcastic answers are thrown out but there's correct information for the careful reader. The 1% of the time people are abused or treated poorly on the channel it's because a) they're asking a completely ridiculous question that is difficult to answer by typing but easy to answer with google, b) they're asking the same question over and over again despite receiving an answer or c) they seem unable to comprehend the answer they did get due to skipping important information offered in the very thorough tutorial and they expect people to hold their hand through the entire game.
So which are you guilty of, OP? |

Ok, I read all those words. Twice. While English is not my native language, I still consider myself quite good at it after many years of studies and daily use of the English language. Still, I am unable to figure out what it is you want. Was there supposed to be a question in there somewhere? Were you trying to make a statement of some kind?
If you could try again and think through what it is you want to say, then write it in a shorter and more straight forward way perhaps I or someone else could help you out with answers or suggestions on how to move forwards.

Wow.
Might I suggest you simply ask your question and not ramble on like that?
Somewhere in there it looked like you got podded. I doubt you pissed anyone off to cause that, it just happens sometimes.
Although, if you typed in local/help chat like you did here, I'm sure someone was irritated enough to find you and take out some aggression timers.
I find that without a good mob to provide one for them, most people would have no mentality at all. |

Sounds like you're becoming paranoid already, welcome to EVE
NPC corps can also be a wealth of information if you're not getting an answer from the help channel. But of course be aware trolls inhabit both as well.
I'd say don't ask too many questions all at once, some people will see that as you can't be bothered to learn the game yourself. They would also be expecting you to ask more soon after.
Sometimes questions get missed especially if the traffic in chat is high.
Sometimes you won't get an answer because the people looking at the question might not know the answer or are unsure about it.
Nobody can copy your character's name, so doubt anyone is setting you up.
Quite a few corps insist on a full api and usually a form of voice software especially the larger corps. So if you're not prepared to follow suit they won't be interested in you.
People don't need a reason to pod you, some will anyway if they get the chance.

If your questions on the help channel were as rambling and difficult to understand as your posting, it's a small wonder you didn't get much help.
I mean, you don't have to pretend you're writing an English paper but...you know, if that helps you write coherently, go ahead and do that. |

+1
English is my native language, and I still had to read it twice. If you asked in the help channel like you post here, no wonder you got the responses you did.
EVE is full of some crazy almost evil scammers, awoxers and the like. It also has many of the nicest most helpful people I've ever had the privilege of playing with (sometimes they fit in both categories at the same time by the way).
