sorry but a little bit of planning server downtimes wouldn't hurt. If i'd do what they do in a IT department of any other corp, i'd get sacked for sure.

Dude, lemme tell you, CCP are about as good at patching as it gets. I come from DAoC and EQ where patches would sometimes take most, if not all day (and more!) Where I agree it would be nice to know, you gotta remember that not EVERYTHING in life goes exactly the way you want it to... have a coke and a smile.

I remember back in Febuary when Age of Shadows came out for Ultima Online - you were not able to do anything for the first three weeks becuase of all the server downtimes and reverts - and that was just the intial release for the North American Shards - 11 if I remember right.

 Hey all, whatever you flamers feel like saying.. basically don't.
CCP have just done a damn fine job to find the issues that were occuring with the 1163 patch. I the meantime they upgraded twice and are now on 1165..
For them to do this in around 5 -6 hours is pretty damn good, and I appluade them for the hard determination...

I pay the wages of my goverment indirectly through taxes, but I don't always agree with what they do, or nessecarily understand it, even if somewhere in there they have my best interests as a citizen at heart.
It's got to be a good thing that you don't want to be locked out of the game for the few hours that they spend upgrading, or even apparently fixing issues in patches that would have caused you grief if they'd made it onto the liver server, but to be honest, you can keep pulling the "I pay your wages" card any time you like, if they're already doing a lot better than most MMOGs, or are already doing the best they can, it's just a little bit silly.

I don't have a problem with the time taken to upgrade the server, it was the poor information provided during it...
And you can't choose not to have a government without a revolution, as opposed to if no-one bought / subscribed to EVE, a few developers would be out of a job...
Banning a customer for making a comment? That would be a tad shortsighted...
But, it's working, so, why argue?
