Hey all, i've just uppgraded the pc to a amd 64 3500+, 2 GB rams and a 7800GT grafcard. I had to, efter this, install Eve again, and patch it up to current patch. Everything went fine but now it reall does not work. When starting the game, i get to charscreene, usually there, or before charscreen i get a crash to desktop or it freezes the computer, resulting in reboots over and over again. Can someone please help me out here, i never experienced this earlier. The drivers for the Nvidia graphcard is up to date btw.

Sounds like you've just upgraded without reinstalling windows, which is a MUST when you do heavy upgrading...
Reinstall windows if you havn't, and you'll be good to go.

I also tried the "removve/empty" cache-folder, ended up not only ctd or freeze, a reboot of windows was the result this time. I am pretty nervous about this, does not look healthy.

Try the 64bit CPU thread by BBQ and see if the patches he quotes in that thread are any use to you.

Try to use any 81.8X or higher Forceware drivers. I run with a 82.10 and have no troubles.

Hmm, a friend of mine once told me he can not run EVE with 2GB of RAM. He has to use 1GB only. Maybe that is the reason?

Seems a bit odd, unless one of the sticks was faulty and failed under stress.
In any case, seeing as this is new hardware it would be a good idea to be sure its all in full working order as well has experiment with drivers. As you say windows restarted I would run memtest on your ram to be sure its error free. And if possible test the motherboard and cpu with an old graphics card you know works.

8GB huh? Memory isn't even addressable past 2GB...and you must have *some* mobo that has enough slots for 8GB or RAM. The OP said that his graphics drivers were up to date so your suggestion for him to update his drivers implies you didn't even bother to read the post.
all in all, I say you suck.

Windows 64-bit and a mobo with 4 slots and 2Gb sticks would do it. But you knew this, right?

He said update the drivers -OR- roll back to a previous set. Looks like YOU didn't read HIS post.

So, you flame someone for what I can see is your opinion that he didn't posting anything relavant, but you yourself did not post anything relavant. How does this help the OP and his issues?
Saeromar: aside from the obvious (virus scan your system, turn OFF virus scan and try again, Windows patched to full patches, etc..) you might try some alternate video drivers. I've heard Omega Drivers have worked for some people in the past when the standard Nvidia drivers don't. Disclaimer: I haven't heard how these drivers work with EVE, just that they've worked for other people with different games, (BF2, UT2K4, etc). Make a "system restore point" before installing these, so you can roll back if they make your system unstable.
BTW, I'm running EVE on an Asus m/b, AMD 939 3700+, and 2Gb RAM, no problems. I have an ATI 800Pro, so different video card, but the CPU and RAM are similar enough, so should work.

This problem generally has to do with what video card you have. There is another thread on this.
Unfortunately, I installed EVE on my computer with a Radeon X850 XT PE, and it had this problem, too. It continues after EVE is uninstalled, so it looks like the only way to fix it is to format your drives and reinstall Windows. It's a software problem, not a hardware problem. They (CCP) really need to fix this.
