Its like Quafe, no-one really knows how to pronounce it, and when it was told, people ignored that anyway.

Gallente = Gal-len-tay (French portion of their origin)
Quafe = Kwaff (think of the word Quaff, which means "to drink" or, as a noun, around a pint of a beverage).

I remember being relieved on seeing the intro movie that I was in fact pronouncing all the races correctly
Especially when I heard one of the eve-underground DJs pronounce Minmatar Min-Mater ... with the accent being on the second syllable and not on the first as I'd been saying it. -----------------------------------------------

Even tho its spelled differently, I always imagined it was said this way and meant the same thing.
quaff (kwf, kwf, kw(f) v. quaffed, quaff+ing, quaffs v. tr. To drink (a beverage) heartily: quaffed the ale with gusto.
v. intr. To drink a liquid heartily: quaffed from the spring.

Obviously, over the many millenia, the Gallente have dropped the use of acute accents, which is what causes the confusion. The word should really be GallentT.

The last E isn't pronounced in French, so officially it should be Gal-len-t. |

I think this is the most accurate interpretation, because it also accounts for the adjective/adverb form "Gallentean", which wouldn't be easily pronouceable if you pronounced Gallente differently.
