A long time ago, I made a post called the wishlist. With all these new things comning out over the next few months, I felt that it needed renewing.

Item One: The Baby Flat-top. Not to be confused with other nearly capitol ships like the Dom. This would be a battleship sized carrier that specialized in drones. It would, logically, have stats somewhere between a battlship and a battlecruiser, being, like it's real world analogs, faster, but smaller then a full blown carrier, or fleet carrier (ie Mothership). It would be unable to fit weapons larger then small, but would allow a smaller corps and Alliances to have a ship that fills the same role as a carrier. It should be able to use a large number of drones, but not Fighters. By large, I'm thinking a max of, say, 20, before moduals. Or perhaps it would recive a bonus for mods to control extra drones. Something like that. This would be useful, without being horrendusly overpowered. And alowed in 1.0 systems.

Item 2: Cover. I still think that LOS should be used in this game, particularly with all the drones and missiles in use that would ignore LOS. It would make the frigate significantly more useful in combat if it could use other objects as a sheild.

Item 3: Fireing Arcs. Big ships should have to manuver to use weapons against targets, not have targeting lag. The computers and sensors on a large ship have no logical reason to be slower then those on a frigate, infact, quite the reverse, with all that computing power onboard. I say that target locks should be just as fast, but that a larger ship should have to manuver to aim it's guns. Yet another improvment for the frigs, and, at the same time, makes the big ships more realistic. And unrealistic gate ganks tougher.

Item 4: Targetable subsystems on larger ships. With all the behemouths comeing in, targetable subsystems should be implimented. This would allow ships to be disabled by smaller craft, and give a new use for damage control mods (they would increase subsystem hp, or allow faster repairs). A flight of frigs could be able to disable a cap ships engines without having to deal enough damage to blow it up.

Item 5: Ramming as a viable attack. Ships exicuting a ram would deal damage equal to thier remaining structure / difference between the target and rammer's speed. Both the rammer and target would recive the same amount of damage.

Item 6: Useful Self destruct. A ship self destructing would deal damage in a radius equal to a smart bomb of the same size as the ship equal to it's remaining structure + the minimum amount of damage that it's remaining loaded ammunition can do in one shot.

Item 7: NPC crews as a means of getting missions. I'll keep asking for a crew for my ship. I'll keep hearing 'No.' but I'll keep asking. NPC crew members could be recruited at any station, and level in a manner similar to what pcs do in other mmos. But to level you would have to preform missions to actually level up the crew member in question. Unlike implants, there would only be a percentage chance of losing them if you are podded. Like implants, once they're gone, they're gone. And once you recruit them, you can't trade them or sell them (I know you Ammar out there would try) but you can fire them (dropping them off at the nearest station, where someone else might recruit them) or toss them out the airlock, to varying effects on the remaing crew.

Item 8: Mines. Please re-impliment mines so that they are deployable around POS or so that they are only deployable in systems under your soverginty. They would remain inert until a ship that is a member of a corp your corp/allaince is at war with comes in range. Otherwise they remain deactivated. Like turrets. They should be invisible until scanned for.

Item 9: It's not your Grandpa Sid's Civilisation. Colonies and such need to be implimented. I don't care if it's a set of stats or something I can blast a blast a YT-1300 out of a cantina on, but try to make planets useful and interesting. And try not to turn them into civ mini-games. Prehaps they can be like stations, or something?

Prehaps they can be like stations, or something?

Item 10: More systems. A lot more. Like, 2x more. It will make things a lot better for all the players, the whole way around.

Item 11: Concord deals and conqureable systems. Let's say that Allaince A wants a system owned by, say, the ammar empire. Why can't they have it? If you are A) An Allaince with an offical war dec and B) able to subdue the defences, the stations in that system should be conqureable under those circumstances. Further, let's say that you conqure a system. Once you have sovrignty, why not beable to contract CONCORD and raise the security level?

Item 12: NPC pilots. I dunno about the rest of you, but i have a hanger full of spare ships and ships I rarely use. Why not have a system where you can 'rent' ships to npcstp do various things? Yes, you might lose a ship, but the payoff should be worth it. Also, the ship remains insured while the npcs have it.

Item 13: Passports. The factions and alliances can simply declair an section of space offlimits (no more then 4 systems can be declaired such) but members of the allaince or faction and persons with a passport issued by the sovrgins could enter at will. Otherwise the person is painted with a criminal tag as long as they are in systems ruled by whomever. These passes might be good for a certain number of trips or days. These would facilitate trade deliveries into and out of space controlled by these allainces. (I dunno about you, but I know that I've had more then one ship shot out from under me either right before or right after delivering to an alliance held territory due to someone not being told I was cleared to be there.)

Item 14) Belt claims. by building a special mining station in a belt in low sec, an allaince can claim the belt. This structure mines at a low rate, but aggressivly defends the belt against intruders. This should have some rather strict requirements. like multiple outposts in the same system, or something. If the alliance loses sov, the station goes offline. It might also work with passports (see above) to allow licensed miners to work in that belt. It SHOULD NOT be able to mine more then three tech II mining lasers.

Item 15) Claiming and Rebuilding dead stations. I've done a lot of missions and seen a lot of abandon mining stations/empty space stations etc around. Why not have the ability for a corp to take up house in one? It would not be able to function like a conqureable station, but should have at least corp hangers, and then a choice of one factory or one research facility. It would allow the deployment of turrets around the station, and these would be governed by the same rules as all other POS turrets in the system. It should have a unique function though, like an abandon minig post when repaired would become a mining post, and would mine a small amount of a random ore tht occures in the system each day (No more then, say, a mining drone running 24/7 though.) and deposits it in the corp hanger.

1.) Lets wait for those t2 BSs here - I hope some will be like a carrier - BS size of logistic ships with drones.
2.) Same as above.
3.) I like current way of things here - wouldnt change this.
4.) AFAIK it is going to be implemented already. Soon(tm).
6.) Good idea.
8.) I support idea but only if a ship specialised for sweeping mines is implemented as well (or a module for that). Perhaps a minelayer ship - destroyer hull - it can lay and sweep mines.
10.) And more hamsters for servers if you are going to give us so many more systems. Lets say first open all systems that are in eve - NOT all at the same time, but like they are opening now - slowly. And after entire eve is opened perhaps make a couple of wormholes to different galaxies with more systems.
11.) I hope they make faction warfare serious ...
12.) You can lend ships to players or sell them - i dont see a point why would i give my ships to some NPC.
13.) Good suggestion if made serious. For example minmatar and amarr enter war - caldari and galente could block borders to prevent minmatar terrorists from entering their space and only those with passport are allowed.
14.) Suggestion is good but why should a station mine at all? Make it a sentry battery in the middle of mining field with a hangar to store ore in and let players do all work.

I dont have opinions on all points but generally i support:
6, and 13 as good ideas not heard too many times or not being rumoured to be implemented already. 8 is interesting as well but might be easily overpowered.
Some other suggestions are good as well.

WEll, I suggested the NPC ship thing as a way to make 'noise' ie npcs going about thier buisness, like a real galaxy would have.

I think one of the main problems is balance. I like the ideas, but the thought of how hard it would be to rebalance everything makes me hesitate. It is inevitable that something would become extremely broken, particularly with the maneuvering/line of sight thing.

Item I:

Escort Carriers: These have a real world parellel. In WWII the United States lost its Pacific Fleet in the surprise attack on pearl harbor. The time and effort to replace lost battleships was considered to great and they needed quick reliable firepower then, so they built smaller carriers. This allowed them to build ships fast and get them out there.

Escort Carrier could in EVE be a ship that is between the size of a Battleship and a Carrier as you suggest, alternately it could be mostly battleship size, after all most Escort Carriers were useless without their fighters.

Item II: Remember that this is set in the far future. The computers and such would easily be able to pinpoint on a display, 3D or otherwise the location and distribution of all nearby objects, it would be necessary for travel times.

I just don't see this working in EVE.

Item III: I would love to see ship firing arcs similar to that from Star Fleet Battles. I always find it funny to see my lasers or whatever firing through my own ship or parts of it...perhaps the visual redo will help this.

Item IV: Kinda like a Battle of Endor situation where they go for the shield generators on the Executor. That might be a nice addon for capital ships, give some critical systems that smaller vessals could attack and have some chance of damaging, I like.

Item V: Under current game design this is a bad idea. Think of how many times you bump into stuff when undocking. Still with some engine redoing and multiple undocking spots at stations this might could work.

Item VI: Yes this is a great idea, kinda like Battletech when your engine explodes....

Item VII: Though I would mind seeing perhaps a quality for crew and upgradeable crew qualities that provided some bonuses I don't want to see a bunch of NPCs all over.

Item VIII: Yes it is time to bring back mines. Make them usuable in only low sec and 0.0. Proximity minefields, I'm sure if we ever have empires in space we could use these, plus be nice to use those mine BPOs that I bought not knowing....

Not true mate. PACFLT was at sea (I believe on trials) when the attack happened- thank God else the japs would've owned us big time. BattleShip Row got wrecked, but a number of cruisers and destroyers were only damaged- within a few days they had mustered around 20 ships and sent them out to rendevouz with PACFLT, giving Nimitz a fair chance. The damaged USS Yorktown took one helluva beating and, in the end, the Japanese believed they sank 4 different carriers. This worked to our advantage as it worried them, making them think we not only had larger numbers than we did, but could keep replacing ships without problem.

Anyway, onto the idea:

Escourt Carriers

Gallente

Hull: Vexor

Developer: CreoDron
After the success of the Ishtar as a drone boat, CreoDron took things a step further, creating a true light drone carrier. This ship, while lacking any sizeable armament, carriers a compliment of drones that, when combined with it's advanced routing and targeting subroutines, makes it a ship capable of laying down some serious firepower.

Gallente Cruiser Bonus: 5% to armor thermic and kinetic resistance per level, 7.5% to armor explosive resistance per level.

Escourt Carrier Bonus: 10% to drone damage, Hull/Armor/Shield HP, resistance, and mining amount per level. 20% bonus to drone control range, speed, and tracking per level.

Special Bonus: +5 to drone control amount.

Item 2: Cover

LOS is very resource intensive when you have 20,000 people + how many hundred thousand NPC's and asteroids and planets and moons and random space junk. You would need a separate cluster for each node JUST to calculate this o0' I would love it myself (Picard Manuver anyone? :D) but it isn't viable right now. Maybe once quantum computing becomes more prevelent.

Item 3: Firing Arcs

Firing arcs would be rather nice to be honest. Instead of making it very difficult for large turrets to hit small ships (which makes NO sense as all you have to do is lead them and *thump*) make it so they have limited arcs.

Small: 180* arc
Medium: 90* arc
Large: 45* arcs

Hm... too tough... how about

Small: 270* arc
Medium: 180* arc
Large: 90* arc
Capital: 45* arc

This also helps with defending your pos as smaller ships would have better luck. Makes sense IMHO.

To balance it, give larger turrets potentially BETTER tracking and double? their falloff distance (more powerful tracking comps on board)

Item 4- SubSystem Targeting
SubSystem targeting is going to be added one day. nuff said :)

Item 5- Ramming

Ramming- if you've ever played Star Trek: Bridge Commander, than you know just how ANOYING ramming can be. People will set up suicide ships just for this- imagine being rammed by an Apocalypse goin full MWD with a speed setup and a 1600mm plate. Yeah... ouch. Most ships other than a BS will simply impload.

Item 6- Self Distruct
No dice mate- take an iteron 3 and load it up with antimatter L. Put a scrap armor and shield tank on it or even speedtank it or use ECM and self distruct around a few hostiles. You'll deal stupid damage.

Item 7 - NPC Crews
Two things about this, though I do like the idea.

1) it doesn't fit into EvE's backstory too well. The PodPilot controls the entire ship from his mind. Now, if they made a prequel to EvE, it would be sweeeeeeeet!

2) It'd be VERY difficult to alter all the code to accept a time/grind base skill increase on the crew.

Item 8- Mines
*shrug* I'm neutal on this. I think they'd be fun to use as an interceptor- just sorta roll em out the cargo bay in front of advancing enemies. Perhaps let em be used while you are cloaked... imagine a cov ops going around planting mines inside an enemy formation :D

Item 9- Colonies

YES Thank you GOD. I do not want another Starport GE style game!

Item 10- More Systems
No need mate. Half the systems are never even used. Jove space + the space near it is supposed to open eventually though.

Item 11 - Concord
Nah, no need to be honest. Would be nifty but that's about it.

Item 12- NPC ship rental

I think it'd be hard to impliment, but it'd be kinda cool Good way to make isk for manufacturers.

Item 13 - Passports
Oh GOD this would make 0.0 life a lot easier. Not having to add everyone and their grandma to your corp listings and address book would be SO nice. It also makes player owned delivery services possible. Makes sense to- it'd simply be a tweak to the FoF Transponder to make it work IRL.

Item 14- Belt Claims

I would personally LOVE this as I like mining 0.0 ores but NPC's and even other non-hostile players make it a pain. Though I may not agree to having it mine... perhaps a refinery? say, 35% base + skills and it runs in half an hour (sorta like a pos refinery, but it holds far less, is mobile, ect)

Item 15- claiming and rebuilding old stations

*shrug* neutral on this.

Item one: the vexor and, if memory serves, the dominix both use to have a +1 drone per level bonus that the developers took away. The only ship that I know of now that is still listed with the drone bonus is the guardian-vexor which at last count there were less than a dozen left in the game.

I would not hold my breath waiting for them to bring that back...

Not really. The server allready calculates the relitive positions of objects so that you can orbit items or bump into them (fly around a roid field to see this in action) It's just not used to resolve weapons fire or target locking.

1) Yes, it does. People must not actually read the fluff, I swear. While the advent of the pod pilot reduced crews dramatically, any ship cruiser size and up has a certain number of them. In fact, I might point out that Fighters are manned ships, not drones. I might further point you toward the fiction that even a cruiser as small as a blackbird is mentioned having a crew. And the person mentioning it is the pod pilot flying the ship.

2) actually, in the early days of EVE it had a (highly abused and quickly removed) feature where you leveled up skills faster if you did them. Prehaps a watered down varient where your crew can train skills (that degrade over time if disused ala the old standing code), say your engineering crew would learn minmatar BS, while the gunnery crew might learn Projectile, if you're flying a Typhoon. The bonus you get from the crews skills shoul be small... but... I also personally like the idea of a crew as a source of missions rather then agents. It makes them a bit more RP to me.

I think part of the idea is to have a cheaper more easily attainable carrier, with that in mind I'd like to point out that the gallente carrier skillbook costs 450mil

Yes, that was the original idea. Soemthing that filled the role for a corp that a carrier does for an allaince, IE the drone support monkey. (First person to say 'Buy a Dom'
get's one right between the eyes!) The Dominix and other drone centric boats arn't really filling this role, I'm talking a drone specific ship, like a scaled down carrier.
Example:

Class: Freya
Role: Escort Carrier
Skills: Escort Carrier I, Minmatar BS IV, Drones V, Minmatar Drones III

Bonus: +10% Drone Bay and +5% Sheild boost per level
Bonus +5 Drones controlled

All stats basically similar to BS, a little lower HP and faster, but comparible in size to a Teir 2 BS. Can only fit small turrets/one missile launcher. Drone Bay should be large enough that one MIGHT be able to fit 2-3 fighters in it at lvl 5. MIGHT. And not much room for anything else.

Also possible as a T2 BS varient. Though I think they're eyeing those for Science ships.

Why would there be a line of sight in space , unless there is a gas cloud in the way (like the extreme lag machine clouds in complexs and missions)?

There's some stuff in here that i think has potential and some thigns that would make the game even harder and may ruin the gameplay.

lets take that mini carrier ship into consideration, imagine those ships in jita and other places , how about something like this - instead of giving it more drones lets give it more damage bonuses/Logistic drone repair amount or activation time. From my understanding of carriers isn't so much for the damage it's more of a fleet logistic ship. Hence the bonuses for remote rep's; so why not make this a mini carrier for logistics but more reliable/useful and more capability of the logistic cruisers? Basicly making it a logistic bigger battleship. I would find a logistic mini carrier more useful rather than a damage dealer, but it also has the potential as a damage dealer, (no turret or missile hardpoints). If this ship or something like it comes out Nosferatus Would definatley have to get nerft( possibley stacking penalty for powergrid usage? ) to ships without the role of a nos bonus unlike the pilgrim/curse/ashimmu/bhaalgron and possibley the apoc, being NOS is/will be it's role it shouldn't get that bad of a nerf (maybe a stacking penalty for the activation time?), but looking at a dominix (can fit 4 - 6 nos with the variations on the player's setup and still tank and seems like a never ending supply of drones) or typhoon (can fit 4 heavy nos and 4 guns that take no cap to shoot) it's semi overpowered compared to other ships , and being said that the apoc's role is going to be change in the dev blogs maybe it will get a nos or nuetralizer bonus? ( reduction in fitting requirements for nos/nuetralizers ) and wouldn't receive a massive nerf being it'd be it's role but make it so no BS can fit more than 3 (4 or 5 for the apoc/bhaalgorn) nosferatus /nuetralizers and still let bs's be able to fit offense weapons with the nos nerf (High caliber guns ex. ion blasters/mega pulses/what ever the autocannon is, missile launchers)

This would make fights last longer due to less nos = more repairing, and with that mini carrier = more support tanking

Which leaves you with an overall conclusion of more gang teamwork (hopefully)

silly question ; why is there no visual missile launchers or drone bay door/transparent shield (maybe colored forcefield sorta like the arbitrator has and carriers) or something like that?

sorta long , thnx for reading Smile

Space is not an empty void. LOS comes in in areas like asteriod fields, fleet battles, POS, anytime somethin flies or is put between you and your target. (This is known as 'cover' to those of us in the RTS/FPS fanbase)

In all honesty, chatting in Jita makes it lag. (one reason I don't go there much anymore) There is nothing in this game which does not cause lag. Even logging off causes some for a second or two. Yes, if someone flew to Jita and deployed 10 drones, it would cause lag. It would, however, cuase slightly less then two people deploying drones as stands. And.. in all honesty.. how many people go to Jita to deploy drones in the first place? I hear there are no agents there now, and I can't recall there ever being rats. Or mins.

There are all sorts of things to get a corp into low sec. I think the devs aren't looking at this the right way by driving the mission runners into low sec. Here's an idea to get people there:
With factional warfare going on, the empires might allow non-alliance corps to 'claim' systems in the name of the Empire (really, effectivly, you're 'joining' the Minmatar Republic rather then a player alliance). It should have HIGH standing requirements, and the sov of the system remains the same, but the corp would be allowed to erect an Outpost or buy into an existing NPC station (should require a high standing with the existing NPC corp.) This might work by The player corp gaining 'ownership' of the station, and thus it's taxes and fees, in exchange for a percentage that is passed along to the Republic (as an example) in the form of a tithe. The original corp maintains it's offices and agents there (for free) however it otherwise now acts are a conqureable station. However, corps without a high standing would not be able ot take it (thus preventing mega-alt fleets from simply seizing it, and corps in a non-Empire alliance might also have to face off against not only the corp running it but also elements of the owning Empire's fleet (might cost a little extra, say a monthly fee for the MDA.) Might have an interesting effect, if, say, BoB, (or Curse, or 'fill in the blank here' alliance) attacked enough corps with a MDA with an Empire.... the Empire might declare war on that Alliance? An interesting RP possibility there and the potential for Alliance conquests in Low sec/Empire, or Empire expansion into allaince held areas, depending on how it goes. Interesting Idea, ne?

Before the onset of capital ships. the amarr arbitrator was once a drone carrier (cruiser). it not only had its lasers but you could control upto 11 to 15 drones at one time... I wouldn't mind having a "affordable" carrier back. I got no use for a ship that is grosely expensive and only limited to 1/2 the map. IMO you're getting screwed both ways on capital ships. If a new escort carrier should be created it should be about the size of a freighter. Why that size? because the freighter is the largest ship that can "fit" thru the gates. A battle ship would be too small.

I like the idea of a t1 BS/BC sized & cost ship that can assign normal drones to another ship on the same grid and confer typical BC gang bonuses on the same grid.

Basically, an intelligent upgrade to the logistics ships. Perhaps they could even have bonuses which are specifically intended to boost other logistics ships exclusively.

It would need to be a front-line ship. Too many drones would mean lag, so bonuses to existing objects are more desirable. Damage is too simplistic, and aircraft carriers are more about interception and response timing improvements. So I would think significant drone speed enhancements are more called for. Enhancement of specialized non-damage drones are even more worthwhile.

Other enhancements might be AWACs support. Locktime improvements if that doesn't create too much of a gate-camping atmosphere might be feasible with some counterbalancing. The more the enhancements are geared towards ganking, the more fragile this platform needs to become.

Alternately, the ship could have an effect on whole grid mechanics, for example allowing ganged ships to warp to one another in as little as 100 or even 50km. Or perhaps allowing non-ganged ships the ability to warp in on one another outside 150km to bring short and mid ranged ships prominently into fleet warfare.

If these minicarriers are stargate-capable, and designed for front-line duty, I could see a use for an exclusive technology that can disrupt existing bubbles and their formation while in play. The minicarrier would then be ideal for crashing a gatecamp with support. They certainly don't need independent jump-drives given that Titan jumpbridges are going to become more common.

I really like the idea of a pure support craft. Perhaps one that has 0km lock range, but can still target any gang member instantaneously all the way across a grid. Thus it can't sick its drones on a target, or even be used for independent combat, but is a tremendous asset against all fleets configured for static engagement tactics.
