Wish I'd seen this thread before I collected my mission and unwrapped it, I sat staring at my empty "items" window for quite a while wondering where my Large Neutron Blaster 1 BP had gone. oops.

Yep me too. I lost 7 million worth of stuff. Two CU Vapor bores and One Surgical Strike book. Cheers! Maybe CCP will get around to fixing it soon. They do know about this bug, as I was directly told this by a GM. Word to the wise....don't use courier missions to transport or transfer stuff until it's fixed.

Find a ussualy empty system jettison, log with other char, pick up! Now with secure containers, specialy the huge ones, its more than easy..duh!!
Edit: But strange things happening with hsi patch, i was carrying some iso. very little 38k, and after gating at one system I lost it, nothing in the cargo hold, nothing in the assets, reloged and it was in a station in a close system but, i remember very well I never got anything in there out of my cargo hold...go figure.

I lost a 100k bp like this last night too ;-(
It's not an exploit. The whole purpose of the colateral means thet people can break the seal and steal the goods if they want to loos the colaterol, this also allows you to sell items remotely (by setting the collateral to the value and no reward), or pass items to another character without having to be in the same place (set the collateral to 0).

Did you even bother to read the whole thing or find out what's been going on?
It's a bug, I lost a cruiser because of it... was only trying to be helpful by lending it to someone in the corp through courier (and I've used this a lot never without loss of the item/items).
Nice of CCP to acknowledge the problem, but I do hope they also put things to right. Now I won't go bankrupt if I don't get the cruiser back as it was 'just' a spare one that I had taken off the market. But it's still worth 2,5M that I'll be missing.

Must say I love the patches up to date, the losses you experience now is nothing compared to how you benefitted from being in on the early stages, arkanor in empire space, CUs dropping in .6 systems, harvesters by the 1000s and all that...

I had this bug happen to me ages ago. Took the GMs quite a while to see to it, but to their credit, they returned the items to me.

Courier missions do work. DO NOT EVER BREAK A PACKAGE IN YOUR SHIP. Only in your hanger. If you do it in your ship it will poof.

Courier Missions do work? Why is it then that a lot of people lost a lot of items while opening it from their hangar?
GM's/Dev's have acknowledged it as a problem post-patch. So don't you be giving me this "it does work, it's you own fault" routine just because it didn't happen to you.

After no word through my petition, I took it up with support. At least they send me the standard reply back (sorry, we're backlogged) and asked for more info. Which I supplied...
