Systems with highway stargate should be 0.0. CCP is making it wayyyy to easy for traders. There needs to be some kind of risk involved in this game and right now there is none. Pirates have goten the Nerf bat pretty much every patch. You know it says in Eve "Power doesnt come without risk" There is 0 risk in this game. Every system is a 1.0 system with these sentry guns. .4 and lower need to not have sentry guns. Whos going to go into non empire space? Hardly anyone. Why would anyone want to anywas, bistot? Yea, you can make more mining production ore. 85% of eve are in empire space, its not fair that we get pushed to the side, you made a role for us, we decided to play that role, now we are pushed to the side. What fun is that?
Just alittle suggestion, Systems with high way gates need to have some sort of risk to it. I suggest we make these systems 0.0 so pirates can have a role here. You are making it to easy to travel and trade universe wide. ---

Edited by: Ad'rena on 14/08/2003 20:57:46 yeah.. i agree with Tank... making the highway systems 0.0 would make it more risky for traders... so they then would have to make a choice.. they can take the short route and risk runing into pirates.. or they can take the safe rout (more jumps)... |

Trading is too easy for traders, but I think the solution is randomized (or at least less predictable) supply and demand. Make traders work harder for their isk - as it is today, once you've gathered the route info, all you have to do is be last to place the order before server down and voila, isk city. Totally unbalanced geographically, and too easy imho.

You think CONCORD will consider to lower their most important systems to 0.0?
First, as far as I know, you killed people like it WAS 0.0. That's what I heard. Second, pirates didn't get very nerfed this patch. MWDs got nerfed in a way so blockade running is close to impossible with less than 2 (two) MWDs. Now, since very few ships will be equipped for blockade running like that, you can probably expect to catch a whole lot of extra ships.

It does ridiculous though.
Do you really think that the Empires or CONCORD would let such vital gates leave unattended?
And for you thinking that you aren't getting enough indies in sight...
The fact that rarely anybody goes to through the camped systems like obe jan ec fd pf and the lot is because it's commonly known these spots are camped ALL DAY LONG, if you pirates would at least move around a bit more you might catch a bit more.
And that does not include 1.0 systems ofcourse... --- soonÖ |

Its just like in real life, you got the Turnpike and then u got the regular highway, the highway is free and the turnpike cost money. Im not saying put a fine on the highway, give us that role. Something, you are making it too boring for us pirates CCP. ---

No, the super highway needs to remain super secure (acutally, it needs to be made secure - it currently isn't). There is no reasoning or logic that could justify making these systems lawless.
What needs to happen is the most valuable of trade goods, just like the best ore, lies in 0.0.
Let people trade fertilizer in empire space, but trade robotics from 0.0 into empire.

Shock, you talk about moving around a bit, where is there to move around! Almost every gate has sentry guns and now they arent able to be jammed anymore and to add to that their damage has been increased and to TOP THAT OFF, if you blow em up they reapear 1 minute later! ---

If you go back and re-read the patch message when they put the highways in in the first place, they said they are free... for now. So, it's pretty obvious they plan on adding a toll later. |

Edited by: Uragan Zelp on 14/08/2003 21:15:35 The empires would be sure to keep the vital trade routes open. However I think there should be a toll to be paid - CCP should look into it
As for you would be pirates, instead of continually camping the gates why dont you act like real pirates would have to and mount occasional hit and run attacks against soft targets?

Good idea.
There should be risky routes that give high profit margins and safe routes for noob traders to make cash with lower margins.
There is one flaw with this, the only way to be a pirate in this game is to ambush. The only way to ambush is camp a gate or station. However, the camping strategy is fool proof no one can get through. Therefore it would not work. The only way to do it with the current game mechanics would be to have a lot of parallel gates. Too many to camp. So you have to patrol the gates, that would give people a chance to get through.
You would end up with Indys monitoring the situation out a moon or belt trying to guess where you are. They would then make a run for a gate hoping you are not there. the pirates would then patrol the belts and moons looking for Indys preparing to run for the gates.
Big game of cat and mouse, more fun for everyone.

0 risk? Is that why there are over 200 pod kills spread throughout the galaxy?
Or is it because there are ONLY 300-400 ships destroyed on a daily basis?
Now with no mods in warp you should have at least 5-10 seconds longer to lock and shoot players coming out of warp.

Not moving around in secure space! The other way!
If you would not completely shut down 0.0 space people will venture more into it. And not only people who otherwise simply fought their way into 0.0 space but also the weaker ones.
Afterall everybody can handle NPC pirates.
And if you would then move around a lot, and camp the gates occasionally I think you are more likely to get something.
And for them seeing you in local...so what?
If seeing you in local only results in the gate being actually camped 1 out of 5 times, they will start betting on that 4 out of 5.
This could be seen in mara where the pirates most of the times blocked the system only one way.
Also you can start hunting them in the belts itself, like SI seems to do a lot.
Besides blockade running seems to be past tense with the new patch.
Ofcourse pirating seems to be getting more and more difficult. I think this isn't bad, only it's done in the wrong way. Pirating shouldn't become harder by making it harder to get victims, but harder because the retalliation becaomes a more serious threat, that will finally force you guys to be mobile...
Remember pirates are parasites, the moment they kill their host by leeching too much blood they have a serious problem. --- soonÖ |

Pirate hang out where money is, we camp gates that leed to possible good trade systems. Right now we are forced to camp just anywhere where there is traffic. Highway systems are not vital to concord. Why should they keep them secure. There has to be risk and ccp is ensuring right now there isnt any risk. ---

comparison to highways / tolls
Why would anyone let a pirate take the 'toll' for travveling the highways? rather than 0.50c you'd charge peeps 3M or their entire cargo/ship/lives. just like with the blockades, people would just go another way, and then you'd complain that everyone isn't just warping into your traps.
shame.

I think a large pirate faction should go blow up all the gates on the highway
And then build their own a few jumps out of empire space!
And you can go the LONG *safe* way... or you can go the SHORT *dangerous* way... ...
just a thought! -rei _________________________ Trolling is bad. Please dont do it. -rei |

There are far greater problems then this. I would use these gates if there was acculy a reason to move trade goods around the systems, but since there is not why argue over why they are in safe space or un safe space. I was always under the impression that the highway system was to facilitate rapid transit from the core of one region to the next, reguardless of sec rating. So gates in low sec space would be fair game while gates in hight sec space would be more diffucult to prey appon. "Reality is just a myth... ...or so they tell me." |

Someone suggested a while ago that we should have 0.0 "buffert zones" between diffrent empires. I think that is a really valid suggestion and make it both exiting for traders and profitable for Pirates & escort services.

I have a question.
All of these indy's use the highway to make trade runs, this much is fact.
But are their buy systems and sell systems all located in high security space?
If they had to buy the trade goods in a...let's say .5 or so system (not as safe), travel along the highway (safe) and sell the goods in another lower security system. To get from the systems with highway gates in them (high security) to their buy/sell systems, they may have to travel through multiple other systems with varying degree's of security. This give REAL pirates different places to stalk and strike their prey. I would think it would also make pirating more fun. Now you must actually recon suspected high profit buy/sell systems, keep an eye on the trade market's supply and demand. It's kinda like actually doing trade runs yourself, but you don't actually have to use your own money to buy the trade goods. It's got to be better than sitting at a gate and ganking everybody who gets in range...for all of us. If only the trade system was more well thought out to carefully choose buy and sell systems.

How is that not still risk or in your original post did you mean player pirate risk?

Im sorry but this is just plain funny, they ban you for exploiting by killing in 1.0 systems using a bug, so you just come out and ask them to make the system 0.0 so you can kill there with impunity, crawl back under that rock Tank, everytime you come out from it you make yourself look a right prat.

So risk only applys if you lose more than how much?
I understand you were trying to hammer home a point. But I'm not sure it was really that well thought out.
Needless to say I don't agree that they should be 0.0. Makes no sense, why would the trade routes of the universe be subject to pirating?
Maybe like beseb mentioned put valuable stuff outside them and you have the solution?
