This is not a flame post, but as with all the server downtime due to the vast majority of server errors and time lost in training skills. Will we be getting credited with additional game time free? This is what happend with a previous MMORPG i used to play whenver long periods of server side downtime happend.

Your total cost per hour of downtime should be somewhere in the neighborhood of.. oh.. $0.02. Do two pennies really mean that much to you? SoonÖ is relative.

ffs, youre complaining about an hour or two of downtime? well you might as well demand refunds for the time you lose during daily downtimes. Btw, the last time i checked, skills still do get trained during downtime. __________________________________________________ Originally by: CYVOK ASCN SPACE is now a NOW FLY Zone.

Emphasis being *long* periods of downtime. This has been what, an hour? a little more? Not even close enough to warrant any time credit. Now if the server doesn't come up until tommorrow afternoon or something crazy, they'd probably credit you a day's time, otherwise, don't count on it. Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the oth

Less than 1 day isn't, "long periods of server side downtime." You people that love to nickel and dime yourself to death are sure fast to jump on the 'refund boat' as soon as the game is down for more than 1 hour.

i have experianced this before with starwarsgalaxys but ccp does stipulate in its end user agreement that some outage is unavoidable and although they really dont have to do it ... i think the same way as you ... a free amount of time for all the paying players would go along way to soothing sore tempers ... after all the last thing they want is hundreds of people walking away because of continual server problems ... if i were ccp (who i know are trying ) i would give an extra week to everyone just to make them shut the h**l up lol

CCP have, in the past, given out a free day on days with long periods of unexpected DT. $0.02 x 80,000 accounts = $1,600 Just over one and a half thousand dollars handed out by them because a small percentage of that 80,000 lost an hour or two of play. What an evil company, eh?

An hour or two of downtime and everyone is in a uproar. I hate to see what will happen when that patch is released this week.--------

One thing you could complain about is the possible downtime during patching, but not this. __________________________________________________ Originally by: CYVOK ASCN SPACE is now a NOW FLY Zone.

Originally by: EULA While CCP attempts to have the System available at most times, CCP does not guarantee that the System will always be available, or that the System will not become unavailable during Game play. They dont have to refund you. They usually will not do it unless there are extreme circumstances, and if they do it is usually in the form of an account credit, ie. one day extra. -- Latest Vid: Bobbing for Xelas

We know CCP will cover all we loss in game that they are able to. As for guy's going on about I pay to play this so what. We all do and in end will carry on playing the game don't matter how many time EVE go down. We all not happy but in end have to put up with it. If someone say's that's it I not paying to play EVE any more, then it be more likely them who dont say a word on here that will go. Do CCP worry if some leave game no because they got a lot more to offer and will get even more new member's. So the bull of it is don't go on about I am not paying to play EVE any more when you know you will. EVE a good game and one that will get better as time go on and with that problems, every game as it's problems. Your ship will be ok and no NPC will shoot a ship because they too can't play You are and like other's flaming why because you got nothink else to do but wait for game to get back. Go and play another game or log on tomorrow. Look at the lag we will get will every one trying to log back on.

Edited by: Vishnej on 14/12/2005 00:26:19 As someone who's gone through plenty of MMOs, I'll begin *****ing about server downtime when: There are crashes < every 6 hours a majority of days for weeks, or there's > 1 day of serverdown more than once in a month. At this point, the company needs to think about seriously expanding funding for their servers or maintenance team. I'll begin preparing to leave an MMO when: there are crashes < every 3 hours a majority of days for weeks, or there's at least three days of serverdown a month for two months in a row. At this point, the company is demonstrating their inability, rather than ignorance, of the things they needs to do to run the game. I've played through worse, I've played through better[no daily downtime], but Eve is way up there as far as cluster stability. Node stability, on the other hand... ----------------------------T2 Destroyers: a proposal Requested Changes: An alphabet's worth

the only refund I remember was the infamous easter weekend 2005 - my god that was hell, nodes dying, server crashing, random disconnects, website down, etc. Everyone was given a day of free game time to make up for it. FYI: Part of the UK's internet backbone went down all evening, this would affect both TQ (based in London), and Iceland (afaik, their connection is routed through a fibre cable to Scotland). There has been a lot of stuff everywhere, such as netsplits over IRC, most people in the UK being unable to access some MMOG's (Dark and Light was mentioned on TS, anyway). So, CCP CAN NOT BE BLAMED for this one -------- FireFoxx80: If you think you can do a better job, go find yourself a datacentre to host a box, get a copy of Visual Studio, and STFU.
