Well there has been plenty of warning over the past few weeks that it was going to be 'ON or AROUND' the 16th. Surprisingly the 15th is 'AROUND' the 16th being the day prior.
Take a chill pill let them do it in thier own time as they see fit, they have run it absoluutly fine for the past few years. Just logon now and switch your skill to one that will cover the entire period, seems your at your PC now. ------------------------------------------------- Statement of the Obvious

But what's up taking the server down during EU primetime? .... How insensetive of the deployment team, are they all born in polynesia or alike (somewhere -12 gmt?)
The server team will be in London UK, with the server. Hence with this timetable, the deployment team are going to be working some very unsociable hours.

Actually the 16th is the next day to 15th, not the one prior. 14th is the prior which is today. Just because I have access to the forums doesn't mean I can change my skills... it is one of those advantages of beeing a sys admin, when things are going smoothly you get some time to slack off in the forums
Still, a 20 hour notice is, in my opinion, a bad service to the costumers. We will see after the patch is deployed how stable it will be and how much good service it will be as well.
But alas, no use in beating a dead horse it seems so I'll let it go so you guys can get all cheery about the stealth bombers, but Kieron... if you want to login with my account and change my skill to Energy Management 5 that would be a good costumer service... personalized too

Kieron: I was unable to connect last night to set Gallente BS to level 5, and you guys have moved the date up on me, and I have this lousy connection....Any way, can sombody do the Dev/GM thing and set my training skill for me? If not I guess I will do somtime next week.
Also any change in system requirments with the expansion? (some of us have bills to pay and upgrade to system is out of the question)
Thanks

Hmmm, I have been looking forward to RMR since I first read about it a couple months ago. But, with the servers being so unstable as of late, major lag, mods not activating, etc. is this REALLY the best time to introduce such a major change? I know I am not a server guru like CCP, but it just seems like it would make a lot of sense to fix the major problem that are occurring now before introducing something that will undoubtedly cause more bugs and problems....as all the patches do. I just hope that all the eve players get a credit for the time we have already lost to faulty servers, the day for RMR and whatever time we lose due to bugs with it's introduction.

Hurray for RMR - Good luck CCP. We're pulling for you.
And to those complaining about the advance warning. I am still a noob and I was smart enough to set a 16-day skill as soon as the servers were up again yesterday at 23:30, Clearly, the patch was coming and a hiccup of ANY kind might risk you not being able to change. The chat channel's the night before were already saying that the patch was coming and many people decide then to change their skills. In fact, you could have changed skill training a day before the final fer sur announcement just to be safe. SO, basiclally, stop blaming CCP for your unwillingness to think ahead. Just my 2 cents.
I wish you all well and safe flying in RMR - -

"eye for an eye
If you lose your ship within Empire space because of unsanctioned combat, you earn the right to revenge your loss for a limited time, and can kill the assailant on sight."
I like this one the best - Shame it ain't in any Space.
It's great to see that EVE is allways improving with more new and improved actions that you can do. With the anticpated arrival of the new ships, especially the Titan, we can see more battles and wars between Corps and much more in-depth combat techniques. I'm going to enjoy RMR right up untill the next update is released.

I wouldn't be surprised if they've been playing around with hotfixes and things went wrong... now the only escape move is forward and apply the patch.

LOL Im sure there will be a lot of happy wives out there tonight. I'll be doing the same. Just remember not to tell her that EVE is down and you may get lucky tonight.
On another note. I too am a bit screwed on my skill training. I have two accounts and had set both of them to finish skills around 20:00 GMT tonight in anticipation of setting a long skill thru the patch on Thursday.
In the future CCP please give us a little more notice. I just lost 24 hours training time on both of my accounts.

To those that said after xmas. You should of known better. It was not the tech II ships this patch is for but the lag isssues.
Notice for all noobs. Because there is a patch does not mean you can not get on Eve. Just keep hitting the connect button until you get in and buy the new skills. They will bring the game up for 10 minutes then back down. They will announce afterwards to the public after they finished and 5k are online. Get a head start!!! --------------------------

Missing from the patch notes?

Skoda, speedy recovery to you. We should have a stable and upgraded client waiting for you after post-op.
The server and database issues from last night were the result of a number of factors that could have been dealt with individually, but clustered together had unfortunate results. The size of one of the log files exceeded the memory capacity of one of the servers, the tape back-up apparently didn't catch the overflow, then the server ran into issues once this started.
The patch notes are still in the process of being updated. Some items were left out of the patch notes on purpose, as they fix exploits or prevent game abuses. Other changes or features are getting last minute touches and tweaks, features that have already passed QA and can very easily be removed from the patch if needed.
More updates to follow. T minus 4 hours and 12 minutes until TQ starts the back-up process for RMR deployment.

Thanks for the update, I do have a question regarding the server outages though, You say that due to the size of th log file on the server is fell over, do you not have any kind of montoring software for this kind of thing? Do you not have daily morning reports to report on drive sizes and %'s?
I know here at at my work we use MOM (Microsoft Operations Manager)to monitor the clusters we have. (Granted it don't always work but 99% of the time does, and if it doesn't we have the daily reports that go out from a member of the team.
I'm sure you do have something like this in place but I was just wonering. _______________________________ Waa it still too big not by much tho |

Originally by: QwaarJet I'm nearly finished training for Interdictors, so when tranq is backup, i'll be able to fly them, assuming large corps don't charge inhumane prices for them.
Speaking of inhumane, I find it hard to be believe that this could take 24 + hours.
Heh...oh, they won't, because price-gouging on T2 items never happens! heheh...
