Zincol, they have said dozens of times(to those who bother to listen) that there are many different thing scausing the CTDs, they cant fix all of them in a patch which was made in a week after all the devs come back from their(much deserved) holidays. Have you tried looking at the news and NOT equipping sensor boosters? Im not going to patronise you with all the other crap like drivers because im sure you've done all that, but you have to give them more than a week to sort out EVERY cause.

Activate boosters..CTD Jettison drones..CTD Lock asteroids..CTD NPC spawns and targets you..CTD lag hile minning and trying to activate miner beams that wont activate..CTD Someone warping next to you..CTD Some other 10 30k near you activates HIS boosters..CTD
Well it seems there isnt anythink you can do unless you want a CTD now.
BTW bosters and CTD happened to me once before two days too, but was a rare occasion, so its not like ths bug didnt exist, they just made it more obvious now!
Anyway i wonder why every bug we get is always a bug that makes you lose something, I never saw a bug that actually made you earn something by mistake..I wonder if this has to do with the "Time Sink" style coding they seem to be implementing in each patch. No one will know what the hell they have on that code unless he opens it and sees for himself.

It is, just they are charging you to play.

I have never ctd before (lots of reboots), but every one in Corp seems to be ctding all over the place now. This is something that has been introduced with this patch.
I don't mind the bugs so much, but I do object to being constantly told to check drivers, set up, etc. The rebooting when changing windows mode started at last patch, and has gone with this one - nothing to do with drivers or my conputer. I do not appriciate being encouraged to spend hours messing my system up, when clearly it has nothing to do with my computer.

Lock asteroids - stable NPC spawns - stable Warping in/out next to me - stable "10 30k"? Pirates with what boosters? I didn't try the rest since I'm not a miner, nor have I trained heavy drones yet.
I've gotten 3 or 4 CTDs since May 15th. Node crashes not included, obviously.

Reinstalling directx often helps with CTDs, it seems to get a bit mangled when applying windows patches and installing new drivers.

well actually most(not all) ctd's/reboots are faults of drivers/harware etc maybe your system was just making it for the last patch and then they put in new content(its a mmorpg afterall)and that was just too much.
do a computer stress test and see if your system is all that you thought it was.

Have the cleanest system that can be (on this OS is only eve and the necessary window plugins) ..nothing else. Defrag scandisk daily, and after I restart EVE, including when patching. Use the most stable card for EVE, GF3 (tested and prooved)
I want a "places I CTD'ed" option on my map now...to keep track of things :)

Eve patches add ABSOLUTELLY NOTHING in the OS windows folder, this game can run without being installed in the registry. If the same computer can run Unreall II and Planetside without problems, then Eve weird performance especially after new patching is absolutelly not a players hardware fault.
lots of CTD in this patch.

I have to say i thought this, that it was the fault of the game as i can run other games. It was in fact my service provider, a very famous american company (saying no names). It seems this game needs an almost flawless connection. Losing any bandwidth will make it crash, even if you are still connected. So i would recommend trying to improve your connection.
Also drivers can be a problem, dont always use the newest driver, sometimes older ones work better.
Hope this helps

Yeah, I didn't have a single CTD before the patch, now it happens frequently, for no apparent reason. EVE just dissapears.

Edited by: Rust on 15/08/2003 12:30:42 Edited by: Rust on 15/08/2003 12:26:34 So, the first time I tried to change windows mode after last patch I rebooted - happened 100% of the time. After this patch, perfect every time.
I should have changed isp, got different type of conection, gone back on all drivers checking all old ones to see if they were better, stress test my computer, etc.
As soon as we get this patch I ctd for first time - every few mins a corp member ctd - this was unusual event before patch.
Should I try all the above, or wait for next patch I wonder.
By the way - nobody was using sensor dampeners.
I understand and will acept the bugs, but it would be so much easier if CCP would make clear they have spotted a bug. Rebooting on changing windows mode has clearly been fixed - yet I have never seen any mention of it apart from a post saying almost all problems were do to the players set up.

there seems to be a thing atm that what is casuign a CTD or Bsod-reboot...
SOme ppl says it has to be only eve... other say that it has to be your setup...
Both present reasonable arguments...
IMHO, it's both... what i think is happening, is that there is a piece of code on the graphics engine which is being either mis read or understood by certain hardware and driver setups...
basic explanation...
Games says Blank Screen... G card gets blue screen Bang Mis match system reboots...
if one with actual knowlege on systems and the like, could read and see if i've got the right idea, i'd appreciate it... thanks

The best is the new High Speed AOL...
"you can use it with your High Speed Connection"... Uuuuuhh, thank you, so basically you are paying them to have a ****tier version of IE/Outlook, and you are doing so monthly... LOL.

90% of you who experience ctd's (ctd's that most of the eve population don't experience.. unlike the sensor dampener bug that all experience) have faulty hardware, bad/old drivers or a bad isp.
this means that the game isn't to blame. some issues r also due to directx 9 but that's not ccp's fault either. -------------------------------------------

Listen to your self..if 90% of players have problems with a specific game yet that 90% have not any problems with similar games is their fault?
Whats is the reason that coders code?..To make thinks compatible for a wide range of users, failing to do this, you have a product that fails,

I am getting loads of CTD now which is a shame, and part of me wants to hate the developers, but if you really sit down and think about it, think of all the possible combination of systems out there, it aint like programing something for say the playstation where everyone has the same kit.
Plus, its not just the hardware, its the different versions of Windows too, so part of me also feels sorry for the DEVS, thought not too much, or they may get sloppy :P
/me *****s whip fix my CTD !

Well I tend to think it as more to do with people setups than anything else. I don't care what other games work or don't work, Eve is the first DirectX 9 game out there. How many of you have hardware that was design for it.
I played for 8 hours last night and not one CTD. I use to get the every once and awhile but since updating my motherboard bios I have not had any.

hmmmm okay, but I have a graphics card designed for DirectX 9 - GeforceFX 5900 Ultra and the latest drivers - tried old ones too, updated everything from DirectX, have the latest motherboard bios etc, and now have more CTD than ever, and every other program works like a dream.

As long as the sound goes it seems it is trully dx9 3d, and they did a very good job there, maybe there lies the problem with most ctd's environmental audio engines and such.
