I thought the drone bays were supposed to be cut in half.
Previous Thorax drone bay was 200m3
Current is 50!!
what gives??

Thorax was nerfed coz it was too powerfull.. and after getting nerfed it had it's drone bay cut in half like every other ship.. So 50 is right i guess..

Thorax got its dronebay reduced to half to balance it with other cruisers:
200 -> 100 m3
then all ships got their drone bays reduced:
100 -> 50 m3
that's all o.O;

Look at ALL gal ships. Most drone bays have been halved. Rax was halved to 100m3 on paper when they decided to give it extra pg, but then they decided, "Hey lets have only 5 drones MAX" So now its down to 1/4 of its former glory. Vexor has only 75m3 for drones now...

The thorax now requires skill points and skill to be effective 
It will still wtfpwn with good skills and blasters.

Got a brutix. I like the thorax for its medium feel, and disposability. its strong (er, was strong) yet fast. And has (had) a very nice drone bay. I spent a whole lot of time getting my drone skills up and I was thinking 4 super ogres now, instead of 8 regular ogres before would be just fine by me. *sigh*

Well, I must say I am upset about the total change in the Thorax's profile. What did we get for a reduction of 75% of the only real feature of the ship. We still have the same number of slots, still no missles, a bit more power.
I play as a carebear, do a bit of mining, having a couple of Thoraxes, each with 10 mining drones was nice. The ability to also have a few heavy drones in reserve if I'm ever attacked
made for a platform that I could defend and make ISK with. The reduction in total number of drones from about 14 to one heavy drone & 5 'Civilian' Mining drones or less makes these ships almost useless.
Hopefully there will be some future adjustment to these stats.
Or am I being forced to buy a battleship.

I'm just curious, but for those of you upset by the rax being brought down to sane levels, doesn't reading lists of the various things the rax was good at lead you to the conclusion that it was abit too good? The 8 heavy drones was definetly crazy though.

Thorax able to fit med blasters now, wewt. Thing is, thorax relied on its 1600mm plate, small guns and 8 heavy drones. Now, it has to fit proper plate, proper drones and proper guns. There is nothing wrong with it, trust me, did some testing on sisi.

Well, the Vexor didn't get its drone bay nerfed, and it also got a power boost, so it can carry better guns too.
The Vexor, at just over half the price of the Thorax, is probably a better combat ship now. With a huge cargo hold to boot.
The thorax was better than the vexor before, but it was also a lot more expensive.

Actually, this is as good a thread as any for me to thank the folks who screamed for the thorax to be nerfed, and to publicly kick myself for trying to stop it.

Okay. Yeah, mk II thorax is terrific. Now I have a cruiser with about 3500 armor, 5 heavy electron IIs, and all other thorax-appropriate equipment.
Drones be damned. When I get into blaster range, ('bout the same amount of time it would take slow-ass heavy drones to get into their range anyway) nasty things are going to happen.
Still vulnerable to heavy drones itself, still quite vulnerable to nosferatu (as any cruiser would be) but...still just a terrific battleship killer.

I don't really mind the Thorax nerf, mostly because I stopped flying 'raxes when I got my Cyclone. But I will say that they need to change the description; ain't no one gonna be using any hordes of anything in RMR.
Besides, it's totally got the look and set up of a blaster-boat. You can use mediums on it now. Boom boom!

Thorax did get nerfed on the Drone part, although in this Post it says drone bay reduced to 100. But it is still pretty strong and now people are forced to fly it the way its meant to be flewn. With med Blasters, No more 1600mm Overtank.
It used to be way overpowered, they fixed it. Still think it is a very powerfull cruiser.

it got nerfed since underskilled players wanted a "iwin" button that the platerax was with BS sized arnour and 8 heavies.
now you will need to learn how to use a cruiser as a cruiser instead.
there is absolutely nothing wrong with the thorax now.

Thorax got 2 changes, the regular halving threw RMR (which does next to nothing thanks to the new drones & skills) and it got the Mk2 changes applied, which is an other Drone bay halving together with an up in its grid to get it closer to its intended form.
Its a ship build for fighting with drone support, not a drone carrier, so get over it and adapt or use a Vexor because it was allways wrong that the dedicated drone carrier cruiser had less drone bay than the rax.

im happy. it needed a nerf tbh. i mean 8 heavy drones was a bit much.
now it has to fight properly and be flown skillfully.
oh and for the guys complaining that u cant fit 8 mining drones.
if u look under the dev blog for ship ';usage' the thorax is classed as an 'assault ship'
no a mining/cargo biatch.

I think part of the goal was to allow limited numbers of oversized drones for ships.
a Rax with 8 Heavys was far to hardcore anyway.
Your not supposed to fit 2 heavies in it, use lights or mediums. It still Pwns ! and is a great cruiser. Its just more inline with the other cruises now !

I'm a Gallente pilot, and I agree it needed a nerf. Now you fly the Thorax as a gunboat, and the Vexor as a drone boat, depending on which style you like. The previous combined gunboat+drone boat was overpowered, no ifs about it.

Nope, still don't see the word "mining" anywhere there. It talks about combat a lot, though, maybe (gasp) that's what you should use it for?
If you want lots of drones, I'd like to introduce the Vexor. Nice, solid drone cruiser. You can even mine with it. Been there, done that.
