I was fitting 4 T2 Ions on a rax before RMR, so it's easy, LOLerific even, now. It's a gunboat plain and simple, to be used much like the stabber (which is also a great ship and has crap drone space, 20m3 i think)but which will get excellent damage very fast and is expendable. Think of this, if it gets popped, you dont have to whine "Ohhh fusk! I lost my drones!". Drones were always too scratchy for me anyways. Get close and watch your target's face through the*****pit as he wears into structure

Thats the whole thing people relied to strongly on the drones making people 'think' as you say it was the 'only real feature' but thats never been the case as many have said the ship is alot more and with some careful adjustments to setups your have a very nice cruiser that can deal alot of damage.

Considering the Thorax was a 6 million isk battleship before... I don't think bringing it down to earth is a bad thing and should have been done a LOT sooner. tomB just got the nerve to do it against the will of the carebears ( the majority being newbie combatants with cold war ). Afterall, 5 Medium Drones do a hell of a lot of damage.

I'm glad, since i used med blasters pre RMR anyways... and oversized plate set ups where a no brainer, and 8 heavy drones made it to easy to use and too powerfull... now we have a real ship.

Thorax is juts brought back to the line of any Tier 3 cruiser.
It was clearly mentioned that all ships get -50% drone bay, and Thorax get additional decrease to 100m3. So 50% from 100m3 if 50m3. Exactly how it should be. -=-

Well, I've switched to using a brutix now for rat cleanup. I solo mine in .2 space. Hedbergite. Very profitable. With a Retriever. When the rats showed up I would warp back to base, grab the 'rax, and wipe out the rats with 8 ogres and go get my barge back out. So the bay was cut in half, fine. In half again. *sigh* ok so I have 2 ogres now.. But oh wait there's more. Now the Ogres can't do jack to frigate rats! Apparently it was decided that heavy drones should not be able to hit frigates. Ok ok so I give up. The 'rax goes back in the hangar probably permanently. And I'll put my 50-some ogres up for sale. The Brutix isn't nearly as quick as the 'rax but I'll manage.

Maller beats both the old rax and the old/new vigilant - cuts through them like butter.
The best thing is, the amount of 'rax is overpowered', crap that gets posted on the forums makes me feel all the more happy to liberate peeps from their, 'I win', ships.
Stick to sisi if you think the rax was overpowered. It just required skill and thought to defeat.
PS. Now its just easier to defeat, sorry. |

lol this is just too funny. Or not... Like someone said: "winners with rmr: those who can adapt. losers: those who can't"
guess which category you end up in

The Brutix is a great ship now. But if you would just listen to the people advising you to switch to medium drones you most likely wouldn't be bothered by the pesky frigates... or much of anything else for that matter.

QFT...
The old rax, was a predictable ship it had two forms... small rails or small blasters plus you just had to kill its drones and it was an easy kill.. which strange enough for some people wasn't hard but for others it was
Shame that the rax never got its extra slot to make up for its drone bay loss ... for what was supposed to be the most advanced teir 3 cruiser.. it has the lowest amount of slots, this was supposedly justified due to its large drone bay.
Well since the drone bay got a double hit, maybe that should be looked at again and it getting its extra slot..

Somehow, deep down, I had a suspicion that being able to own virtually any 0.0 spawn in a T1 cruiser was too good to last.
