This issue is NOT closed. They gave us a crappy font before and the uproar forced them to fix it. If they refuse to fix it this time, they can take my accounts and shove it up their ass. I am not paying so I can have a headache everyday! ---

"Yeah, you just know this is going to be a hostile change over. I doubt any amount of complaining will revert the changes made, CCP seem to have made their mind up."
Last time the font was changed (to monstrosity much like this one if not this one, iirc) the amount of complaints was so high the devs were forced to promptly roll the font back to something more readable, and did that.
It's simple really -- if one cannot play because they get font-induced headache then they cannot play, and no amount of "but it looks fine for me/on my screen" can change it or magically make that headache go away.
It's pretty much deja vu of that last time, at this rate.

Personally, the font needs to be fixed or people will cease playing the game for any time greater than 5 minutes. Currently, it is not conducive to long term play for the majority of the players.
In addition, I hope that CCP has a word with individuals under their control who insult the playerbase of the game which earns them the money to live off of. It is a very bad business move to insult your players.
Furthermore, locking all threads which discuss the issue shows a level of censorship that makes the company look bad. Keep at least one thread open that is devoted to the topic.
In Short: Give us the old font back, don't be horrible to us, and let us discuss issues without being silenced.

The level of stupidity in the devs trying to force this on the players again is baffling! ---

Okay I posted it once, but here it can get some attention:
Okay here are my problems with the new fonts.
ONE: WARP DRIVE ACTIVE, JUMPING, and DOCKING are now incredibly unfun to look at.
TWO: I can't read crap on the map anymore through the thick fonts
THREE: The current system display is not very bold and hard to read, and is unattractive
FOUR: I have to squint to read chat text, and it gives me a headache.
FIVE: The Overview is super bold and ugly
SIX: When I first appear in a system, the local announcement is ugly and takes two line breaks
SEVEN (Pro): The font is cute for the loading screen and news and even the character sheet, but not for much else.
Lastly, EIGHT: Please, please bring back the old fonts. They worked so much better and made the game interface way cooler to look at. ____ Hull Upgrades Level 4

The new font is just plain horrible - wide, narrow, large, small, whatever. The letters blend together, are bulky and awkward. Unicode or not, there was absolutely no reason whatsoever to change the existing english letters.
Free expansion could be amazing. Totally screwing up the whole interface for no reason is probably not. |

I think I have to agree, that the new font causes eye strain.
I also have recently had my prescription updated, and have had no trouble with the previous font, yet the new font seems to be inducing noticable eye strain, even after only a short usage of it. This is not comfortable.
I suspect the problem with the font is insufficient distance between letters, meaning that one has to look at pixel wide lines in order to determin the separation points between characters. That is a recipe for eye strain, and eventual eye damage.

There's a lot of cool stuff that players are ignoring because they just can't read it! What a dumb choice to make.
Also, unicode worked fine with the old font as far as I could tell. I would like a real explanation why CCP did this. Do they want to **** off all the non-Chinese players so they can concentrate 100% on EVE-China?

Back when I first started playing EVE in August, the fonts were FANTASTIC back then.
What I'm wondering is, can there be a post of the past 3 patches, showing each header, chat text, overview text, etc and have a "what font do you want here?" sort of thing with screenshots from the last 3 patches?
I would happily make this thread. August had it right. I'm glad to see the tall fonts back in the headers (such as the market and the buy/sell totals in the purchase box) but again, to have the people decide would make the game a lot more fun for everyone.
I just don't understand why every patch the font looks worse. ____ Hull Upgrades Level 4

Yep, the font is rather poor. I wasn't getting a headache but I was only in game for about 10 minutes. Found myself having to refocus everytime I look at anything that has text on it.
This is a gamestopper for me tbh. I'm only logging in to change skills until they fix this. Whose bright idea was it anyway?
And my eyesight is very good thank you very much.

Setting the font option to "wide" does not help. It barely changes it.

Signed. The new font completely sucks. I've already taken two advil tonight just so I can stay logged on to see some of the new changes for myself. My eyes are all messed up and my head is thumping thanks to this damn font. Put it back please. The ESC - Generic - Font Width is NOT a solution.

The font is CRYSTAL CLEAR. Why dont you people complaining about the font post screenshots so we cna see what it is you are talking about. Maybe its a bug or something that only some players are experiencing..... ---

hey can we get readable decimal points? lol i have played around just a little bit, and found out this already:
ships that had changes(like the condor) have a good chance of losing all items that were inside the ships hold
the new factories would be more than happy to eat your blue print copy and not give it back!
getting stuck while warping or going thru stargates is always fun
the font is terrible.
this patch has added more content than ive seen in uo for many years, but perhaps it needed a bit more testing?

Originally by: Dessa DesPlains I'm a printer in RL. I can read copy moving at 100 meters/min but I have trouble reading this font. Its too thin and too square. Remember, just cause it looks good on your 5000 (insert currency here) monitor doesn't mean it will look good on my free Dell flat panel...
Try scrolling your flat panel at 100 meter/min, it may help you then...

Originally by: Katchoo Well, I've tested the fonts on Sisi as they were pushed on, and the one that made in RMR is really the one looking best.
And anyway, I could read it perfectly from patch till; now - it *is* bigger and cleaner than my browser font, for example. BTW, do you know that there are nice check boxed in the option panel to change font spacing ?
Quite frankly, we're sick and tired of you people who are so perfect and have no problem reading the font, telling us 'rocket scientists' that there is an option to change the width. Do you seriously think that of the dozens of font threads that have formed and been locked, and the hundreds of people that have complained about headaches, that the majority of them hasn't already tried your 'magnificant' solution?
Just accept the fact that the font is giving people headaches, and that the escape menu 'width' solution isn't going to fix it for everyone.
We can't all be perfect like you now, can we?

it sucks..hurts the eyes..change it back...this is once again another good example of them changing something that works already..STOP IT..changing something for the sake of change is bad...if its not broke dont fix it..
and yes i thought it was extremely lame for a ccp rep to say 'get an eye test' __________

Quote:
It is important you undedrstand that if you have font problems it is a BUG or you failing to change the settings properly. CCP did not "chose fonts poorly" or anything of that nature. They fonts "don't need to be changed back to non-unicode format." People need to simply set their font optinos ocrrectly OR CCP needs to fix whatever bug it is affecting people. Untill I see a screenshot of totally messed up fonts I'm going to assume the problem is with palyers who dont know how to correctly set up the right fonts properties. The GoldenRatio > All.
Or as one person points out, those of us who are having issues with the Font are obviously idiots with no knowledge of our computer's settings or the in-game settings.
Then again, it might be that someone is just ignorant enough to make huge assumptions. Just because the font works perfectly for a handful of people, doesn't mean it is a good Font when the thousands of other people can't read the Font without getting headaches.

And to those who pointed out that: -
a) We don't know how to change in-game settings to adjust font size b) We should get out of the stone age and play on a decent monitor
I have changed the settings to the largest size and it still looks horrible, plus the chat window doesn't appear to be affected. As for buying a bigger monitor, where does it see in the Eve requirements that there is a minimum monitor size? I play on a widescreen laptop and a 19" monitor and the font on both looks horrible and strains my eyes. Yes, the 19" monitor is better, but why should I stop playing on my laptop?
