As per Polaris they are trying to establish why.

- downtime warnings are broken, so please check the news more regularily - it was exactly 11.00 am Eve Time as the cluster went down, as this has been the case every day, unless otherly specified. - If you lost your ship due to this, al I can say is that i'm sorry you didn't keep an eye on your clock. --------------------------- Gynlor Lead Polaris Player Support |

well a nice precaution is to log onto a station when the time aproaches... but there still should be warnings -------------------------------------------- My passion is to fly, nothing beats it, nothing can compare to it. Free as a bird. Bird of prey. |

You have got to be kidding, I hope CCP does not have your same approach. Items lost should be replaced.
Note: I lost nothing.

maybe ccp should keep an eye on the clock as they seem to have problems with how long a downtime is supposed to last they say 1 hour then 2 hours then no comment just look at yesterday for an example

My guess is thath he is a polaris that is a bit fed up with all the whining on these boards ... and all the personal attacks polaris people are getting lately ... like if it's their fault ...
besides, he's got a point when he says about the "daily downtime" always being at the same time ... but nonetheless ... a warning in the news would have been nice to say that warnings are broken ...

Just to point out, although it says Gynlor is Polaris, he isn't actually CCP.
well should be a bit nicer to ppl who pay and like this game it does not cost anything to be polite

How do you know you lost your ship btw?? When the server goes down NPC-pirates go down, I assume. Otherwise it would be REAL spooky. Besides The server ALLWAYS goes down at 11:00 give or take a few minutes.

I don't see the news item where it says that? Also news doesn't refresh on the ingame board for me unless I log out and in again.
I've never lost anything ever due to d/t but what about new players? And if you get a downtime warning every day for 3+ months isn't it reasonable to expect one still, even if it's just a single 5 minute one?

Edited by: Roba on 15/08/2003 11:34:11 I just lost 200k of pyro. I was relying on that 15 min downtime warning. Seems the guys at CCP are getting a little sloppy with the downtimes. You would think it was an automated warning. Now I get the feeling that some guy has to push a button, and today he fell asleep at his desk. CCP needs to get their act together.
Also how about fixing the damn missiles?!

Come on people....use some freaking common sense. Downtime has been the same time everday unless otherwise noted. This has been a fact from day one and should be no surprise!

This is one of the most stupid posts lately. It just shows your total lack of knowledge about anything. Of course CCP tries to keep the downtime to a minimum and when they say 1 hour they aim for 1 hour but unexpected problems may happen, like yesterday. They had planned for 2 hours but it took 2 more builds and a few more hours until they had a stable server and I bet you would have been whining even more if they had opened the server on schedule and it had been crashing every 5 minute efter that.
There are way too much whiners on these forums nowdays!

Give Polaris some slack people. You all fill the boards with complaints, whine that no one responds, and break the forum rules.
Then when there is a 'tone' in some Polaris members post you jump all over it. Customer Service doesn't mean Customer 'you must give me respect and I must give you none' Servitude.
Like children.

Please keep to the thread that's already there. - Orestes
If you'd like to check, I posted the other thread first. It still doesn't justify the no warnings and then just dropping the servers, Yeah they went down at the usual time, but it got everyone confused, are we left to just guess what's happening now? After last night and doing the same thing, I think everyone was on their guard.

If there's a problem with the automatic downtime message then the GMs / Devs should do it manually. ----------------------------------------- Don't jump off the roof dad. You'll make a hole in the yard. ----------------------------------------- |

What if they can't do any ingame messages at all? No automatic or manual?

That they didn't warn us before the server reboot yesterday evening was very, very bad.
But this...it's so damn stupid to complain about this. The downtime has always been at 11:00, and today the downtime started exactly 11:00. It's your damn fault if you lost, and you know it! Most of you people whine just for the whining, you don't even have a reason to complain about stuff like this.
And btw, I had a container (jettisoned) with 400 bistot in it, and after downtime it was still there :) So it doesn't really matter, you don't loose anything.

This is simply not true.
The exact downtime varies by several minutes per day. People playing *rely* on the downtime message to warp to safety, since the time Eve shuts down is not predictable within a margin of 5 minutes.
